  1. I don’t think we can split our TPE but I do really like that idea
  2. But I mean a team that all season work with the rookies and make sure they're doing well and updated
  3. Why don't we have a rookie mentor team? I feel like a lot of other leagues have a team of members with league experience who teach new players how everything works right when they join. VHLM GMs and their AGMs I guess do cover this job, but maybe if we had a team of people strictly dedicated to helping new members it would help retention.
  4. 1. I'm going to spend my theme week doubles on my DF. I just want to be a two way god. 2. I'm VHLE and Oslo just needs to score goals. We have the 2nd least GF as the defending champs. Minion cant save us in net every game. 3. Brazil and Portugal I hope. 1. Would you rather be a snow bird (travel south every winter) and be a snow bunny (I made that up, but travel north every summer). 2. Where would you want an expansion VHL team to play? 3. What would the mascot be?
  5. Thanks @badcolethetitan I'm stealing your idea kinda lol. I only remember being a first gen in bits and pieces, but I am so happy to not be one anymore. Being a first gen is cool and all, random people you've never met on the forum before will raid your dms trying to get you on their team, you meet weird and very lonely people like Dil on the discord gen chat, and you get to be stupid as an adult asking other adults how things works. I am glad to not be in that stage of my VHL career anymore and can actually hold my own weight so that my GMs can trust having me on their team, trusting my loyalty. Here is my first gen experience though: Starting out on a late night in May 2021 I think. Watching youtube videos bored in covid, and I found an ad for this forum. I joined up and was too scared to post anything for TPE so I slammed the welfare button instantly. Then dlamb hit me up in the player creation thread, told me to grow up and then I went to play for Ottawa. I spent a full season under Dlamb before declaring for the VHL draft. I was buzzing around discord all season meeting lots of people and learning lots of things about the VHL. This boosted my draft stock and Las Angeles took me 5th overall as the highest first gen taken that draft. It was cool but I flipped rory the bird and went to play in Mississauga for a development season. That went great and of course my player was amazing. So after that I went to plat for LA. I wasn't good for three seasons and in those three seasons we didn't win anything, players retired and left, and I was the only one left that was half decent. SO I WENT TO SEATTLE. And we won the cup that season, so basically I was the reason we won the cup let's goooo. Played another couple seasons with my player in Seattle and retired early because my player didn't win any awards besides the cup and he was officially mid. So that's my player's experience, here is more of my experience as a member. It was good, always felt welcomed and the great first impressions are what keep me here today. I started getting jobs in GMing and finally got the GM spot in Vegas. Then I got TPE banned and booted off the team. I wanted to leave the league because I worked so hard just to have everything taken away. Butttttt I kept going and a couple months later I got hired to Houston. I've loved being a GM for Houston even if we haven't won anything past the first round yet. Also if anyone's actually reading this I am resigning at the end of the season. I have a lot of great football opportunities coming up and I want to go pro, so no distractions with GMing needed. So anyways it has been great and to be able to get rehired as a first gen makes me believe I do put a good impression on the league. But god damn was being a first gen a bit of a roller coaster. Overall first gen experience rating: 6/10
  6. @Xdjk93 welcome back!
  7. You get to choose! Head to our portal (www.vhlportal.com) then click player > manage and you should see a join team option
  8. @playmaker Welcome to the league!
  9. defnesmen Your first point has been an annoying thing about the portal for a while. I had two players from the Bulls traded away last season, one led the league in points and the other led the league in points by defensemen. So it sucked to not see their combined points in their respective top 10s.
  10. It was only a matter of time

  13. I am going to change this. I did some research and found a place in downtown London that takes donation to feed the homeless and families in need! So new thing, whatever the highest bidder donates to our charity drive from my topic I will double their donation and send that to my organization of choice called “Ark Aid Mission”! So by you donating off my thread you’re actually feed people who are in need of it. I know there are a lot of homeless people and families in need around Christmas and I feel like this is a much better option than pizza. Also only $75 covers real meals for a whole week and they serve around 70-100 people 6 days a week, which is another big reason I’d rather go this route.

  15. London Ontario has a large population of homeless people. So I plan to give out 1 pizza for every $5 donated and I will match the highest bidder as well. If you bid $100, that will go straight to the VHL charity drive. Which means I’ll spend $100 on pizza + matching another $100 for a total of $200 of pizza. Basically whatever the highest bid is I double it on pizzas. Hope that makes sense.

  17. Randy Bobandy is a Canadian born hockey player currently playing for the Oslo Storm in the VHLE. The paths he took to this accomplishment are very long and winding but the main reason he got here is only for his love and passion for the game of hockey. If Bobandy didn't have the want of playing hockey everyday like he does, there is without a doubt he would not be playing in any professional league. Where it all began was Nova Scotia, Canada, in a small trailer park called "Sunnyvale Trailer Park". Randy Bobandy was born into poverty, drugs, and little to no intelligence. Growing up in a trailer park is a struggle since most of the inhabits are not meant to succeed in life anywhere further than where they are now. Bobandy was different though, and you could see this from a young age. His father was a huge hockey fan and while living in Canada the sport was all around. Hockey was like a gateway drug to a better life in the trailer park. It would get people active, connect people to one another, and would make you spend time away from all of the bad things in your life. Randy's father put a road hockey stick in Randy's hand as soon as he could walk. He loved playing with his son anytime he could and hockey was when they bonded the strongest. Randy and his father would play with all the neighborhood kids including the bottle throwers. Randy played hockey everyday and after a few years he became the best out of all the children. Without any money, his parents were unable to put him in an actual ice hockey league, so the trailer park owners decided to pitch in to fund it. They could tell that this kid had talent and was one of the only bright lights in that trailer park. At the age of 6 Bobandy put on his first fresh set of equipment and started in the Nova Scotia timbits league. He was a horrible skater at first but once he got the hang of it no one could stop him. As he accelerated through the trailer park in skill level, he did the same in the leagues he played. Each year Bobandy would move up with his age group and always be the best no matter who he played. This caught attention of the Atom A head coach for the minor team. Bobandy was only 7 at the time and the kids in that league were 9 years old, two years older. But with it being an A skill level team, they wouldn't be playing the top AA teams and Bobandy stood a chance at competing. Bobandy played his first minor league hockey season with the Nova Scotia Minor Atom A's and went on a storm. He lead his team to provincials and they won it all. More and more people got notice of this kid and started learning who Randy Bobandy really was. Bobandy would keep playing throughout the years with all expenses paid as each season his coaches would support his family in order to have Randy play. Fast forward through the years, Bobandy was always playing with kids either one or two years older than him. He continued to out perform most players while leading his team to many tournament wins. He was a true talent and comparisons were already being brought up before he was in high school. Names like Mike Szatkowski, Christian Stolzschweiger, and even the great Scotty Campbell. This was a lot for a young teenager, but he kept moving and always remembered where he came from. His goal was to play in the VHL, be a star, and provide for his trailer park. Bobandy eventually got to the Midget age group where scouts were hot on his tail. Big teams from all around would come and watch the under-ager make older kids look silly. The VHLM was known as the hot spot to play if you wanted to make the VHL, and scouts from all ten teams were present at every single game Bobandy played. The pressure was on for the kid to succeed but in reality there was no pressure at all, he was a natural born talent, a hockey god in his youth, and every single person who knew the name now was ready for a bright future. Bobandy would finish his minor hockey days leaving a trail of flames behind him. He was the top scouted player in the world and social media were like flies swarming around him. When he turned 16 it was time to introduce Randy Bobandy to the world of junior hockey. Although the thing was he was too young to play in any league yet as the minimum age required was 18. His talent had leagues craving for him and the VHLM officially dropped their age requirement to 16 so they could see the kid in action. With this rule change they allowed Bobandy to choose which team he would play for instead of being drafted to the worst team in the league. Bobandy had a tough decision to make with all ten teams wanting him. Each team would try to tamper Bobandy into joining them buy sending gifts, offering the nicest living spaces, cars, jewelry, you name it! At the end of the day Bobandy through a complete curveball and hopped on a plane to Mexico City to play for the Kings. The entire country of Canada was at an outrage, their number 1 star, a great to be is playing in a different country and it isn't even the USA. Bobandy was a young teenager through and going through an important stage of any boy's life. He said his reasoning was for the women and the hockey world now had their first taste of Randy Bobandy.

  20. Great article like always Leandro. I wanted to comment on this quote. I don't understand how everyone thinks this way and it is SO annoying. I'm not hating on you at all for saying this, but the second I considered retiring my player early, I swear to god everyone was shitting on my new player saying my draft stock will be tanked. FOR WHAT? Missing one season?! Like the 7 previous seasons meant nothing? I get that GMs want to be able to use a player for it's entire career but come on. It was my first gen player, I had a tpe ban on it, the only award I won was a team award, and my points were getting shittier the longer I kept him alive... it was super boring watching him be mid tier towards the end of his career... But now I get a fresh start, carry over tpe, and I'm already 2nd on the leaderboard for tpe. I am so much more determined to earn for this player than my previous since I have no obstacles in my way anymore. This post to be clear wasn't sending hate your way for saying that, it was just me ranting about the topic because it really does upset me how much people care about missing one season with my first ever player.
  21. Randy Bobandy is a 6'4 centreman playing in the VHLE for the Oslo Storm. Bobandy is one of two exceptional status players in S86 that moved up to the VHLE instead of sticking around in the VHLM. Bobandy was seen as a gifted player and projected to perform well this season in the VHLE, although that is not the case so far. In 29 games with the Storm, Bobandy seems no where to be found as the center accomplished 3 assists for 3 points. On top of that Bobandy averages less than 2 shots a game with a 0% shooting percentage, he has a -3 ratings, and his faceoff percentage is 46%. Bobandy currently plays on the second line between Vinny Lecavalier and Jon Webber Jr who both have less than 20 points in 29 games played. It's no surprise the team has a losing record going 13-14-2 so far, and Bobandy is not doing anything to help out at the moment. He averages just shy of 20 minutes a period and just recently has been put on the powerplay but has no points for it. Keep in mind the kid is still developing. After skipping the VHLM, it is a struggle to compete with professional players right away. Bobandy is growing rapidly with 12 capped TPE earned weekly plus extra uncapped opportunities. He should be fully developed for the VHLE come playoffs, but after a rough start to his season it is hard to trust that he can perform down the road. Bobandy is focusing on his defensive game and is slowly but surely catching up to his teammates in that sense. Bobandy is determined to be a VHL star, and hopefully his hard work can pay off as the season continues. GM JB has been making changes this season after a S85 Cup Win with the Storm, and it is no doubt he will find a way to bring this team down a lengthy playoff run in S86. The entire team has been struggling this season with a -4 GD and no players in the top 10 for points. The team will have to keep battling and working together in order to be playoff ready. Playoffs will be here in around 3-4 weeks, which means Bobandy should be around the 300-315 TPE range. At this level he could definitely wake up from this slumber and help the Storm out for once. Bobandy is currently 2nd in his draft class so if he wants to shoot for 1st overall, now is the time to start acting on it. Now that we're on the topic of the draft, let's see potential spots Bobandy could go by looking at the bottom 3 teams in the VHL standings. Riga Reign are still deep in rebuild and after drafting OD first overall last season, I don't think they need another center on their squad soon. They do lack in defense including their prospects. So I believe this will be Skor McFluery's home especially since Alex's played for Riga with this previous player Alex Johnston. Malmo Nighthawks are a bit similar to Riga in the centerman department, except their number 1 center is an S83 with 3 seasons left guaranteed, and their number 2 center is an S84 welfare player with 370 TPE. Malmo does have their defence complete but their goalie is also an old veteran. So Malmo will most likely be looking for another center to replace the two in 3-4 when they retire, and with this draft class lacking any talented goalies, I believe Bobandy will be drafted here if Malmo holds the second pick. Then to Toronto, who has no good centermen, they are extremely lucky that 3/4 of the top prospects are centermen. If Toronto has the 3rd pick and Bobandy is still on the board then I believe he will go there.

  25. Hello and welcome to week 2's edition of "The Houston News" Today I will be covering a lot of topics including a captains reveal, 3 stars of the week, new additions, and much more. I hope you enjoy the read and can get caught up on the Houston Bulls of the VHLM. Captains Reveal Captain Shadow Thompson - @Kelsey Shadow Thompson is entering their second season with the Houston Bulls and rightfully deserves the role of team captain. Thompson was drafted 70th overall to Las Vegas in S85 just before being quickly traded to Houston. In S85 Thompson was a key leader for our team, starting in 57/72 games for us while being one of our assistant captains. It was a tough season to play through as the team was going through a rebuild, but Thompson was there for the whole ride with only positive thoughts and attitude. Thompson is projected to start all 72 games this season for Houston and will be a big contributor to our success this season. Assistant Captains Ray Alexander - @TheRoyalEmpoleon Ray Alexander is a new face to the Houston organization this season after signing to the team off of waivers, and quickly planting their seed as a leader to this team. Alexander has been an active voice in the locker room this season and is currently the team's top points leader. Alexander not only shows their leadership in the locker room, but leads by example through their play. Grunkle Stan-dingyouup - @Big Newff Grunkle Stan-dingyouup is another new face in Houston this season. After being drafted to the team 36th overall in the S86 draft, Stan-dingyouup has been looked at to be a top performer for the Bulls not only this season, but for future seasons to come. Big Newff is not new to the Houston organization though. Their former player was a main reason for the success Houston had in S84. We trust Stan-dingyouup and believe they deserve to wear the A this season. New Additions! We had a couple new faces join the Houston Bulls this past week! Three skaters joined the Bulls organization from waiver signings, including two forwards and one defenseman. Welcome to the family! The Eastern Conference will have a good look at the Bulls this week as 10 out 14 of Houston's game will be against the opposite conference. Houston is currently 2-4-0 against the Eastern Conference this season, meaning we will need to pull up our socks if we want to go above .500. Miami will be the main rivals this week as the two teams will face off against each other four times. Great work Raph! And for the rest of the team too, great job on staying consistent and updating weekly! We had a 9-way tie for second most TPE earned, with only 2 out of 12 players on the team not updating this week. 83% of the team is putting in the work each week to make this team the best we can be! : Jeff Beukeboom jr @Raph98 11 TPE : 9 way tie - 6 TPE That'll do it for week 2 of "The Houston News"! Houston finishes off the first week of the season with a 4-6-2 record and lots of room for improvement. We aren't slowing down anytime soon and are extremely excited for week 2 to start. I hope to see you all again for next week's news!
