Hello and welcome to another edition of me talking about random VHL stuff so that I can get 500 words for TPE! I hope everyone has had a good holiday break and ready for the new year. I don't have any new years resolutions except to smile more. Sounds cheesy but it really doesn't hurt to smile more and make others feel more comfortable and happy. Anyways here's my VHL rant.
So Houston is unfortunately out of the S86 playoffs after a swept series win for Philly. I hate getting swept, there's no worse feeling than losing 4 in a row and that the other team is just that much better than you are. I knew Houston wouldn't be in a spot to make a deep playoff run this season, but still not winning one game shocked me. Our record against Philly this season wasn't bad either but oh well. I am excited for next season as I feel the team is finally out of rebuild stage after two long seasons. We have 3 forwards, 2 defense and 1 goalie coming back. We also have 5 draft picks within the first three rounds. I feel like next season I can draft a good core of players who will be playoff ready when that time comes, and all my returning players will be too. I am really hoping for a good season in S87, being at the bottom of the pile for the past two seasons isn't fun and I'd like to plan my team's future a little better down the road.
Moving onto Randy Bobandy, the kid's finally broke out of his shell. 6 points in 4 games of the playoffs so far and Oslo is tied with first seed Cologne 1-1 in the series. It's so nice that my player can compete now, I think I went 30-35 games to start the season without a goal. Bobandy finished with 28 points this season and majority of those points were in the last quarter of S86. With this Christmas TPE given to us I am also trying to speed type my way to a free doubles week + 20 uncapped. With those TPE boosters Bobandy should be around 380 TPE and be finals ready if we make it.
Doing well in the playoffs will be nice, but what my mind is really on is the upcoming draft. Myself, Alex and V.2 have been neck and neck with TPE all season long waiting for draft day. I'm not 100% sure where the three of us will go, but if I could guess, Alex is going to Riga 1oa if they get the pick. Alex has had great experience under Riga and the team really needs a defenseman. I'm not sure what his plans are for his player since he is the GM of Davos, but I guess we'll wait and find out. For Bobandy, I feel like Los Angeles or Toronto is the destination. It would be crazy to get drafted to Los Angeles after my first player AJ Williams was drafted to LA in S79 5th overall. I don't really care where I play, so LA and Toronto would be cool.
