  1. The Benoit Devereux Trophy is awarded to the player deemed to be the top goalie in the VHLM. Our three nominees for the Benoit Devereux award this season all made a major impact for their respective team. The top three seeded teams in the regular season find their top goaltenders fighting for this award. Justin Lion of the San Diego Marlins found themself surrounded by a cup winning roster this season. With lots of stars on the team, Lion was more than capable of holding their own weight and helped the Marlins reach the top of the standings. With a 43-8-1 record, 0.909 SV%, 2.09 GAA (league leader), and 5 Shutouts, Justin Lion is our first nominee. Matthew McCagg of the Ottawa Lynx was a brick wall for their team this season. McCagg was the backbone of the Ottawa Lynx’s 2nd place regular season seeding and helped the Lynx make a solid Founder’s Cup run. With a 50-17-5 record (league leader in wins), 0.911 SV% (league leader), 2.41 GAA, and 3 shutouts, Matthew McCagg is our second nominee. Evan Bilher of the Philadelphia Reapers returned to Philly after a Founder’s Cup victory in S85. Bilher brought the veteran experience to the Reapers and had a VHLM career high season in his stats. With a 43-21-5 record, 0.900 SV%, 2.57 GAA, and 6 shutouts (league leader), Evan Bilher is our third and final nominee.

  11. With the 4th overall pick in the S87 VHL Entry Draft, the Seattle Bears select, Randy Bobandy of the Oslo Storm. It should be every player's goal to one day make it to the VHL, and to be drafted in the top 5 should be every player's dream. Randy Bobandy's dream came true tonight and he will be taking his talents to the Seattle Bears. After a monster VHLE playoff and WJC performance, Bobandy was expecting to be drafted high and he is honored to go to Seattle. Randy Bobandy is excited to lace up his skates for a VHL team, and is super excited to start his rookie season. Bobandy was the leader in points in the WJC tournament and the VHLE playoffs. It seems like the kid has finally developed into a star hockey player. Bobandy is projected to play center on the second line for Seattle, and with lots of split time he should have a good chance at leading all rookies in points. Bobandy focuses on his defensive play of the game, but having good defence will result to good offence. Bobandy plans to keep training his defensive play to be one of, if not the best two way center in the league one day. Bobandy also has a playmaker's eye. In today's STHS games, most forwards focus on their scoring abilities to get as many goals as possible, Bobandy wants to focus on getting the puck to those types of players to rack up the assists. He knows that the competition level will be the most extreme he has ever experienced, playing with pros for the first time will be a test. But Bobandy also knows how talented and hard working he is and he wants to compete to the best of his ability this upcoming season. Bobandy has been chatting with Seattle Bears S83 Continental Cup Champion AJ Williams recently. Williams has taken the role of Bobandy's mentor and wants to train the kid to be able to accomplish the same things he did while in Seattle. Williams rents out his basement to Bobandy so that he always knows what he's up to and makes sure the kid is focused on his training. Bobandy appreciates all the help and is determined to work his hardest under Williams' arm. Bobandy will take to the ice in a couple weeks for his first VHL game ever. Nerves are high but Bobandy has his eyes on the prize.

Hello I am here again writing random words to upgrade my player. I waited so long this week because I thought I would have written the VHLM awards already, but we're still waiting for votes. Instead I can talk about my player like I do every week. Bobandy has been a monster this off-season in the WJC for Team Canada. In 8 games Bobandy produced 15 points and helped Canada clinch the first seed. Canada would take silver in the finals against Team Europe, but overall it was a great tournament for the team. It has been really nice to see my player succeeding in the leagues and tournaments now. After skipping the M Bobandy was a very underdeveloped player, but near the back half he started to get better and eventually lead the Storm to a cup. Bobandy lead the playoffs in points and he did the same this tournament. So hopefully he can continue this trend entering the VHL next season for the rookie race. Bobandy was also recently drafted in the VHL. With the 4th pick in the S87 VHL Entry Draft, Randy Bobandy was drafted to the Seattle Bears. I am super excited to make my return to Seattle after winning my first cup ever in S83 there with my old player AJ Williams. I love the atmosphere with the team and the locker room is always a great place to be. Going to be a lot of fun getting drunk and spamming bana pictures of my drinks. I know the old guy is retiring one of these days, so to be on the team to see him kick the bucket will be nice for me, I wouldn't want to miss it. The VHLM draft is also coming up! Houston currently has a 3-0-1 roster, but with two free agents coming back that will change to a 3-2-1 roster. In the draft we hold the 5th, 15th, 24th, 25th, and 29th overall picks. I feel like players in the round 1-3 range are all solid players and will eventually earn to max. I'm hoping to draft two defensemen and three forwards for a 6-4-1. I know defense are hard to find since most people make forwards and goalies, so getting 4 of them for game 1 would be amazing. I am hoping to sign waivers throughout the season and not only have 11 players, but we'll see how that goes. I feel really good about this upcoming season and I feel like Houston will be a contender again. After two long unsuccessful seasons, it's nice to have that confidence again. To close things off I'm back to reality working and training for football. The holidays were very relaxing, visiting family and friends and not doing anything crazy. Lots of drinking happened of course, but to not have to worry about working for 5 days was the gold star. I think I need to book a vacation for once and get away for a while again, was much needed.
