  1. Swiss Central Gazzette (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) Since our last report Marcel has played four games and Daniel five, with mixed results. Find our brief summary for your reading pleasure: Marcel's Eagles continued their downwards trend and lost against the Rush 5-3. Certainly not the return to his native country Janser had envisaged. Geneva scored first but before the end of the period Bernier and Bushtit turned the game around. In the second period the Swiss team was able to tie the game with the only goal scored during the middle twenty minutes. The game was lost in the third, when Vasteras allowed three goals but only Elsby was able to convert for the Swedish outfit. The three stars were Laperriere (1g/3a), Lavelle (2g/0a) and Bushtit (1g/1a). Arpa (.903) decided the clash of two up and coming VHL star(t)tenders against Utonium (.865) in his favour. Vasteras' power play unit was decent (2/8) and their penalty kill flawless (2/2). This game was clearly lost on even strength and in the last period as well. Maybe the coaches want to revisit their offseason workout. Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, -4 and 2sb. Not the best evening for the Rotkreuz native. In their second match, the Eagles faced the best team of last season, the Istanbul Red Wolves, in a 3-2 OT loss. At the 11:49 minute mark, Marcel intercepts Wilson's pass and after some tic-tac-toe'ing between him, Elsby and Martin, the latter had a wide open net and could not miss anymore. Blugers increased the lead by one with his first goal of the season. Wilson then made up for his blundered pass and cuts the lead down to one again before the intermission. In the second period, only Istanbul scored and the third was without any goals at all. The teams were not asked to put in an unreasonable amount of overtime in their day's work as it took Istanbul only 42 seconds to deliver the sudden death to the Eagles. Kman (1g/0a), Utonium (48 saves) and Wilson (1g/0a) were named the three stars of the game. Utonium (.942) stood on their head to help their team to win and out performed an also excellent Menace (.933) in Istanbul's net. Vasteras' power play was inefficient (0/3) while their box play was immaculate (6/6). Marcel caught up during the shake hands with Jones and Al, with whom he played last season in the VHLM. Marcel had a 0g, 1a, +1, 2 PIM (Tripping, obviously no effect on the score), and 1sb record. The third encounter was against Oslo Storm (with former team mates of Marcel's McMuffin and Teekirque) in a Nordic derby and ended in a 4-2 win. Vasteras hit the ground flying and scored four goals within the first twelve minutes. Elsby on the power play, Martin with a shorhanded goal, Bushtit and Bernier scored for a comfortable 4-0 lead and Wumbo had to vacate Oslo's crease in favour for Fletcher. This seems to have boosted Oslo's morale and they pulled one back before the horn. No goals were scored in the second period and only one by the Storm in the third. The three stars of the night were Elsby (1g/2a), Bushtit (1g/1a) and McMuffin (1g/1a). Utonium (.962) showed an excellent form and devastated Wumbo (.500) but could not touch Fletcher's mini-shutout (1.000). Both special teams excelled as the power play had a 50% success rate and the penalty kill was at 84.62% efficiency. Marcel logged 0g, 0a, +0 and 3sb In the fourth game the crowd could face the Swedish derby with Vasteras losing a tight game against Stockholm 2-0, a result which will please Bo Johansson, being a lifelong Vasteras antagonist. Stockholm took an early lead after less then two minutes played and increased the lead to two in the second period. After that they were content to nurse this lead home. Dahl (33 saves), Utonium (47 saves) and Lajeunesse (1g/1a) were named three stars of the game. Dahl showed a perfect game with a shutout but Utonium (.959) had an all-star-worthy performance as well. The power play was lack luster (0/3) and the penalty kill was ok (4/5). Marcel had 0g, 0a, -1, 1 hits and 4sb to his name. Daniel's Wranglers had a setback with three consecutive losses but recovered their stance with two straight wins. The first match was against Vancouver and ended in a 2-0 heartbreak loss. The teams neutralized each others offensive efforts for the majority of the game, until the Wolves scored with less than six minutes left in the game. Ricer did what most coaches would do in this situation and pulled Klamasteris to get the additional attacker. Unfortunately the risk did not pay off and Vancouver scored on the empty net. To absolutely no-one's surprise Sales (37 saves) and Klamasteris (39 saves) were named 1st and 2nd star, complimented with Jerome Reinhart (1g/1a), who scored the game winner. Apparently, Calgary needs more Reinharts in their line-up. As mentioned the clash of the titans took place between the pipes and Calgary's Latvians stellar performance (.975) was outshone by last season's Shaw and Clegane winner Sales' shutout. The Wranglers did not allow a goal in the two box play situations they had to master, but could not convert a single one of their four power plays either. In such a tight match it is not far fetched to say that this cost them the game. Daniel was noted with 0g, 0a, +0, 1 hits, 1sb and FOW of a disappointing 34.62% In the second game Calgary was matched up against Toronto (with former Reapers team mates of Janser's, Sanderson and Ixazaluoh, in the lineup), a team which has yet to lose and lost 4-1. The Legion came hot out of the gate and and scored two goals in the first and another pair in the second without being scored against. Early in the third, the Wranglers were able to react. Daniel wins the draw in front of his own net and sees Nasherov going off like rocket, he times the pass perfectly and takes all the defenders out of the equation. The Calgary forward is now on a one-on-one with Lindbergh and denies his fellow Swede the shutout with a nice deke. Unfortunately, no further goals were scored and the Wranglers had to concede the game. Fire (1g/0a), Nylen (0g/2a) and Lindbergh (22 saves) were declared three stars of the game. Klamasteris (.920) put yet again a remarkable performance on the ice, but was outdone by Lindbergh (.957). Calgary's power play was subpar (0/2) while the penalty kill was very good (6/7). Daniel recorded 0g, 1a, -1, 3 hits and a 53.66% face off win rate. The third encounter was against the LA Stars and was lost 4-3. Calgary was first on the board with Eagles' goal after 2:07 minutes played. However the Stars replied with a deuce before the end of the period, making it 2-1 LA. In the second period, both sites scored a goal apiece. This time Perry succeeded for the Alberta team. The third period also saw a 1-1 tie with Reinhart finding the back of the net for her squad. LeMassif (2g/0a), Reinhart (1g/1a) and Fairchild (1g/1a) were given the honours of the most outstanding players this night. Klamasteris (.918) was once more the rock in the surf for his team and outperformed Rasputin (Russia's Love Machine) (.903). Calgary's lackadaisical penalty kill (3/5) was only topped by their inexistent power play (0/5). It is more than likely that the poor performance of the special teams cost Calgary the game. Daniel logged 0g, 0a, +1, 2 PIM (Holding, lead to a goal), 4 hits, 2sb and a FOW of 45.95% In the fourth match, the Wranglers faced the Dragons in a 4-1 win. Calgary scored two goals in the first six minutes. Nasherov in power play and Reinhart on even strength netted the puck for the Wranglers. D.C. was able to reduce the Albertan's lead by one before the end of the period, though. In the second period, neither team was able to bury the puck, so it stayed a one-goal-game. At 50:11 minutes, Daniel loses the draw in the Dragons' zone, but the orphaned biscuit is picked up by Johnson, who one-times it. The puck looks as it would go wide but Nasherov deflects it mid-air, against Taffe's lateral movement and scores. Reinhart's shorthanded goal not a minute later is the cherry on top. The tree stars were awarded to Reinhart (2g/0a), Vaughn (42 saves) and Nasherov (2g/0a). Vaughn (.977), who started instead of Klamasteris this match showed that he can be relied on to jump into the breach and clearly played Taffe (.889) against the wall. The Calgary power play was effective (1/2) and their penalty kill unit was top notch (7/8 and one goal scored with one player less on the rink). Daniel had 0g, 1a, +2, 3 hits and a 57.14% face off efficiency The last match of this article was against the New York Americans and ended in a 6-2 win for the Canadian team. The Empire State team came out swinging and scored two consecutive goals, which were answered in the same period by Kotkakoivu's marker in power play. The second period saw a single goal by Reinhart to tie the game 2-2. 5:29 minutes into the third, Daniel wins a face-off in the Americans' zone, passes the puck to Nasherov who relays to Eagles. The defender dishes it to Johnson. Phil cannot immediately control the biscuit but recovers it and passes it to Daniel, who has sneaked into the slot in the meantime. He sees the daylight, wristshots the disc and it goes bardown. This gave the Swiss talent an adrenaline kick, which was still surging in his veins when a mere minute later he was blindsided by Sosa, while carrying the puck into the NY zone. He did not wait for Johnson but settled the matter with his opponent upclose and personal with a haymaker which sent the American winger hit the floor. The Rotkreuz native was cheered on by team mates and crowd alike on his way to the sinbin, where he served his major for fighting. Luckily, the refs took into account that Sosa provoked the fight and handed him a major for fighting as well. Whether his goal was the game changer or his clear win in the fight, we cannot tell, but fact is that the Americans lost heart and allowed three goals by Johnson, Eagle and Perry and never made a comeback attempt. Kotkakoivu (1g/2a), Reinhart (1g/2a) and Johnson (1g/2a) made the podium that night. Klamasteris (.955) who recovered from the dreaded man-flu, was a class of his own and Karlsson (.854) never stood a chance to win this fight in the crease. Both special teams showed a flawless match with 100% efficiency each. Daniel was credited with 1g, 0a, +0, 5 PIM (Fighting major, no effect on the score), 2 hits and a 47.06% win rate at the draw. Sosa gets some. The stats of the brothers in summary: Marcel: 8gp, 0g, 2a, 2pts, -6, 10 PIM, 10 hits and 17sb Daniel: 8gp, 2g, 7a, 9pts, +11, 15 PIM, 24 hits, 5sb, 1gwg and 52.68% FOW rate. Please stay tuned for the continuation of the two Swiss' saga to conquer the VHL. https://vhlforum.com/topic/115911-a-tale-of-two-brothers-premieres/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/115972-a-tale-of-two-brothers-two-sides-of-a-coin/ GM 17: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Geneva Rush (vhlportal.com) GM 22: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Istanbul Red Wolves (vhlportal.com) GM 26: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Oslo Storm (vhlportal.com) GM 29: Vasteras Iron Eagles vs. Stockholm Vikings (vhlportal.com) GM 33: Vancouver Wolves vs. Calgary Wranglers (vhlportal.com) GM 41: Calgary Wranglers vs. Toronto Legion (vhlportal.com) GM 44: Calgary Wranglers vs. Los Angeles Stars (vhlportal.com) GM 57: D.C. 8. fair enough, but LeDuc means the Duke if I am not mistaken... that would be more alpha than 'the Bench'... or have you ever heard anyone say 'John 'The Bench' Wayne'?
  9. Good Render choice (completely unbiased Swiss here)...
  10. Am I the only one who gets a Kacrux/Horchur vibe? On a more serious note @InstantRockstar: as sick as this gfx is (and it is) you mixed up the player's name as far as I can tell, it should read 'Leduc' instead of 'Lebanc'. This is for me the only flaw on an otherwise flawless sig.

  13. From my observation so far the VHLE is in a sandwich position. The VHLM is constantly re-supplied with either first gens or recreates. The VHLE can only resupply via draft and FA who mostly appear either IA's or 'dropped out' VHL-er (no offence intended) plus apparently the most regular earners will stay a season (like I did) or will be 'poached' by needy VHL organisations. These tend to be (but of course are not exclusively) the most active members in a LR. If indeed the 'most-leaving' demographic are between 100-250 TPE, then I have an explanation for it (by no means empirical though): the excitement of the new is gone, and the shine has rubbed off. I mean I had one guy this season who claimed within two weeks the 10 bonus TPE for the 100 first generation. Progress is made fast in the VHLM. Clickers (and I do not use this word in a derogatory way) though will have a hard time to stay motivated, seeing that they are overtaken by younger, more committed members (understandably so). This effect imo only comes to bear after a certain amount of time where the gap between clicker and max earner starts to really matter. As a clicker you can reasonably expect to make the VHLE within two seasons. From the VHLE to the VHL the gap is bigger as you do not have the 'free starting money' anymore and the PF is reduced by one, which is not helping 'clickers' as it reduces their 'income' by 1/6th, and in my guesstimate it would take you 3 seasons and I can see how people lose patience and say 'I am outta here' as they are stuck (being not necessarily coveted trading assets either). And once regression sets in, we lose most of the remaining ones. I would assume that this problem has always existed in that TPE range, but now it is more visible as it is exactly the point range in which the VHLE operates. I am not saying all is good, there is always room for improvement. But we need to be realistic and really check the data whether this phenomenon is new or has always existed. I also do not think that articles like 'The VHLE is broken and I can fix it' or statements like 'I hate the VHLE with a burning passion (even when striken out)' help to 'sell' the VHLE to new members, especially if these are coming from prominent and well-respected members of the community. I am not picking on anyone, these were just the first ones which came to my mind. I want to stress that I am of the firm opinion that everyone is entitled to their opinion and to make them known, I just question the time and place they are issued...

  16. Swiss Central Gazzette (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) The Janser brothers had played two games each since we last reported from their adventures. Please find a summary of said encounters here below. Marcel's Iron Eagles had to face Cologne a third time in a row and kept the streak alive by losing 5-3. This time though, Vasteras looked like they could win this game for a long time. They won the first period 2-1, with Martin scoring in powerplay and Bernier netting in for the Swedes on even strength. The second period ended with a 1-1 draw. It was Martin's second goal of the night. Unfortunately, Marcel's team ran out of steam and folded like house of card in the third period, when they allowd Simeoni to score a natural Hattrick. The three stars went to Simeoni (4g/1a), Komaryk (1g/4a) and Martin (2g/0a). Utonium (.839) was bested by both Protagonist (.885) and Wilson (1.000). The latter only minded the net for 17:13 minutes as he was sent off for Abuse of Officials (at that point his team was leading 1-0). It is interesting to note that Protagonist let his rage have the better of him as well and received a minor for slashing. From what we could see, the officials could also have pulled the 'intent to injure' card, which would have left Cologne to play with a Zamboni Driver in net. This handicap could have had changed the flow of the game considerably. Vasteras' power play was respectable (2/7), the penalty killing abysmal (2/5). Marcel was noted with 0g, 0a, +0, 4 PIM (2xHooking, both penalties lead to a goal against), 1 hits and 2sb The next match was against Bratislava and the Eagles lost 3-2 after a thriller of a game, where no team was able to score the decisive goal in either regulation or over time. So it was up to the shootout lottery to find a winner. The first period went to the Watchmen with a 1-0 lead. The second period was a 1-1 draw, Bernier scored for Vasteras. The third (but not final) period ended 1-0 in the Scandinavian's favour. Jockesson with his first of the season tied the game. As already mentioned, Sudden Death did not happen, so it was for the keepers to decide this game. Buzzer was the only one who could beat his opponent and sealed the deal for Bratislava. Jockesson (1g/1a), Galvins (1g/1a) and Chiester (37 saves) were named the three stars of the game. Both Chiester (.949) and Utonium (.946) performed on all star level, with a slight edge for the American keeper. We think, that Utonium was anally fisted by a troupe of circus monkeys for not being named one of the three stars. Vasteras' power play was okay (1/4), but the penalty kill (2/4) cost them the game. Marcel had 0g, 0a, 2 PIM (Interference, lead to a goal against), 3 hits and 4sb to his name. We had a chance to talk to Marcel after either game. Here is what he said after the Cologne game (still fuming): 'Disgraceful, these refs should see an ophthalmologist or two. I learned that when you double-handedly apply your stick to a players calf, without the biscuit even near, that this is a game misconduct. Protagonist should have been sent off. I cannot think of any explanation why he was not. Maybe the refs did not have the guts to send off two goalkeepers of the same team in one match. This 'oversight' cost us the game.' and here his statement after the Bratislava game: 'They are one of the best teams in the league and they are deservedly on third. We are quite happy to have them brought to the brink of defeat, looking at the standings. I just saw a spot from the local tourist office on TV Bratislava, where they brag to be home of this season's Renaissance Cup holder. I have been taught to not a sell a bear's hide, when you have not killed the beast yet. My lesson learned from these two matches is, that I cannot take to many penalties, as at the moment we seem to have troubles to keep the puck out of the net when I am in the sin bin.' Daniel's team had much more fortuna in their dealings and stand proud with an immaculate record. The first match was against Riga, which is managed by a distant cousin of Klamasteris'. The Wranglers came out of the gate strong and were the first on the score board when 'Miss Calgary Hockey' Reinhart put the biscuit past her relative Tobias in Riga's crease. Reign equalized in power play but Jokinen would have none of it and reinstated the one goal lead during a Calgary power play. The second period went 1-0 to the Wranglers, when Perry scored his first goal of the season during a man advantage. The Latvians won the last period 2-1 but it was too little, too late. For Calgary's last goal, Daniel won the draw in Riga's zone, the puck lands with Nasherov, who only hits metal, Funk picks up the biscuit but misses the net. However, luck is on his side and the disc bounces right back on his stick and this time he did not miss. The three stars for this match were Jokinen (1g/1a), Sandstrom (1g/2a) and Eagles (0g/3a). Klamasteris (.906) had Reinhart's number (.889). Calgary's power play was remarkably efficient (3/5). Same cannot be said about the penalty killing unit (4/7). Daniel was credited with 0g, 1a, +1, 4 PIM (Hooking and Roughing, both lead to a goal against), 1 hit, 1sb and FOW of 48.65% The second match was against Chicago and was won in a convincing manner 6-1. The Phoenix never had a chance, as the Wranglers scored three goals within the first two minutes of the game and won the period 4-0. Kotkakoivu with his first of the season, Jokinen, Reinhart and Eagles scored for the Alberta team. For our readers entertainment, we will take a closer look at the third goal: Daniel wins the draw at Chicago's hash mark, passes the puck to Nasherov, he releases, misses the crease but gets a second chance. This time a Phoenix defender stands in the way. Reinhart picks up the lose disc and buries it via the post. The second period ends 0-0 and Klamasteris has a solid chance for a first shutout this season. Alas, halfway through the third, Chicago scores the so called 'dignity goal' which is very unfortunate for the veteran net minder. However, Reinhart and Janser, with his first goal ever in the VHL, set the record straight. Reinhart's goal was almost a carbon copy of her first goal. Daniel takes the draw after a Chicago Icing and wins it. This time the puck ends up directly with Reinhart who one-times it. Due to the traffic in front of the net, the Chicago goalkeeper's view is obstructed and he sees the puck too late to parry it. For Daniel's first goal the video shows the following. The young Swiss wins the draw yet again in the offensive zone. The biscuit lands with Nasherov, who blasts away, the shot is deflected by Reinhart and misses the net, but ends up on Daniel's tape and he forces the puck through the goalie by pure determination. Chicago bench screams 'the toe was in' and the goal is reviewed. After what appears an eternity the referees call it a good goal. The Chicago netminder is not happy with the decision and refuses to hand over the puck to Johnson, who wanted to give it as a souvenir to Dan. Before the two can come to blows, the referee casually skates to the Chicago player and tells him to let go of the puck if he does not want to get a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Grudgingly the net minder releases the biscuit. One can see that the rookie is very popular amongst the Wrangler as everyone and their mothers hug and high-five the Rotkreuz native on his way to the bench. Reinhart (2g/2a), Janser (1g/2a) and Nasherov (0g/3a) were declared three stars of the game. And even though Janser was 'only' second star, we cannot help but feel that the cheering and clapping in the Saddledome was the loudest when the 'Swiss God' took the stage to receive the honours. Klamasteris (.950) was clearly better than the Chicago netminder (.902), who was still decent. Calgary's penalty kill was as efficient (1/1) as the power play was not (0/3). Daniel left the ice with a record of 1g, 2a, +3, 2 PIM (Tripping, no effect on the score), 7 hits (most of both teams) and FOW ratio of 80%! Happiest moment in Daniel's career sofar. The goal counts. The Jansers' stats as of now: Marcel: 4gp, 0g, 1a, 1pt, -2, 8 PIM, 9 hits, 8sb Daniel: 3gp, 1g, 5a, 6pts, +9, 8 PIM, 11 hits, 2sb, FOW 58.40% https://vhlforum.com/topic/115911-a-tale-of-two-brothers-premieres/ GM 10: Cologne Express vs. Vasteras Iron Eagles (vhlportal.com) GM 16: Bratislava Watchmen vs. Vasteras Iron Eagles (vhlportal.com) https://vhlforum.com/topic/108941-bratislava-watchmen-press-conference/?do=findComment&comment=908148 GM 18: Riga Reign vs. Calgary Wranglers (vhlportal.com) GM 23: Calgary Wranglers vs. Chicago Phoenix (vhlportal.com) 1513 words

  18. Welcome back @Brandon I am Daniel Janser, the GM of the Mississauga Hounds in the VHLM. @Ente2997 is my AGM. We are a franchise in a rebuild phase and therefore can offer you a lot of icetime, which will certainly boost your draft stock. The Hounds encourage locker room activity and the management and the Alumni are always willing to help to develop your player. We encourage you to build the player as you imagine him to be, but also offer assistance if you are at a loss how to achieve your preferred build. If you want to be part of this rebuild/project and we could attract your interest, please quote this message and add #releasethehounds. We will send you an invitation to our discord channel (this is not mandatory but helps enormously with communication) and a contract which kindly accept in order to join us. Whatever team you decide to join, we wish you best of luck and more importantly lots of fun with Tomas Sogaard. Daniel Janser
