  1. I’m rooting for ya Girtz!
  2. Damn, poor editing by me. Board Game Clue is so good I had to put it in there twice! lol
  3. Where are they now? The season 81 team of the San Diego Marlins had some major young talent leading up to the draft. While they didn’t make it to the finals that year, many on that team are guaranteed to be future VHL stars. Let’s start in goal. That season the Marlins had two great goaltenders. Dusty Wilson- @dustywilson22The dust bin was a more than reliable back up that went 44th overall in the VHL draft. While earning backup minutes he was a steady and reliable hand when between the pipes. He is currently with the Cologne Express learning from goaltending stud Anime Protagonist. We expect in no time Wilson will be a go to leader in the VHL. Bubbles Utonium- @fishy When God created goaltenders he had Utonium in mind. Drafted 2nd overall in the VHL by the D.C Dragons we expect he will be a household name in just a few short years. This dude is a stud and stops pucks. Currently with a struggling Vasteras Iron Eagles team he is getting top minutes and earning TPE like a beast. DEFENSE Nikita Eklund- A passing machine he led the Marlin’s dcore with 75 assists. Currently in the E for Cologne he has gone a little quiet but lookout when his game is going. He’s deadly. Maxwell Mathias- What can you say bad about this Dman? NOTHING. @Underclass_HeroDrafted 15th overall by Warsaw he’s currently tearing up the E for Geneva. A defensive shut down artist and offensively gifted he is probably the defenseman all new defensemen should model their game after. Tavish Degroot – Like Mathias, Degroot @roryis potentially another hall of famer. Plays an offensive game with a heavy dose of GRIT! With 220 hits and 162 PIMs for the Marlins he makes opposing forwards pay for coming near him. A potential #1 overall draft status he fell to the New York Americans at #20. Making the jump directly to the show has not stunted his ability. He is currently scoring and smashing people in New York. Brian Payne- A VHLM rookie last year he started slow trying to adjust to better competition. Under the leadership of his management team and a strong defensive core mentoring him his game grew a ton. He plays a heavy game and enjoys stopping pucks and hitting his opposition. Drafted 26th overall by Warsaw he is currently in the E for the Bratislava Watchman. Playing alongside former VHLM rival, Bo Johansson @Shindigs look for great things in the future for this bruising Dman. FORWARDS: Johnny Xavier- Xavier was a constant on the scoresheet for the Marlins in S81. A power play genius and pure offensive talent. He was drafted in 81 by Helsinki he is currently scoring like crazy in the E for Cologne. The Board Game Clue on Skates- Arguably the best name in Hockey all time. Right next to Ogie Oglethorpe. This dude is a STUD! Pure offensive scorer and amazing teammate. He was a scoring machine for the Marlins with 32 goals. Drafted 4th overall by Chicago in the VHL. He is currently in the E for the Geneva Rush where he is over a point a game. It will be exciting to see him grow into a hall of fame forward in the VHL for sure. A definite Lady Bing candidate too as he only had 12 PIMS on a team that was known for their mean streak. Drafted by LA in the VHL he is currently playing for the Vasteras Iron Eagles where he has 12 goals in 18 games for them. While there are many more players on the Marlins that could be listed here, I will be end here. The Marlins were a solid, active, and fun team to be a part of and it showed on the ice. While they didn’t win a championship, they formed a bond and created players who want the VHL to be a competitive and fun place to play. We look forward to seeing these former teammates battle it out. 682
  4. Season 82 for the Bratislava has been a roller coaster ride of emotions and outcomes. The talented young group has shown some glimpses of excellence and some heartbreaking costly mistakes. Let’s breakdown some of the team’s strengths: Goaltending - Orion D H Chiester is sporting a .923 save percentage and has been an absolute beast for the Watchman. Alex Parise- in backup role Parise has also been stellar with a record of 1-0 and a .915 save percentage. Power Play- This is where the Watchman really shine. Girts Galvins (7), Bradley Buzzer (2), Brian Payne (5), and Bo Johansson (5) have all been lethal on the power play. Now for the bad: Even Strength Scoring- Ok, this has been the Achilles heal for the Watchman. With scoring studs like Galvins, Buzzer, Groves, Davis, Blloiderson, Johansson, and others there is no sane reason this team shouldn’t be lighting the lamp and making goalies rage quit weekly.  I know right now that GM FrostBeard and AGM Shindigs are working the lines to find that sweet spot that will allow this team to play deep into the post season. Everyone is excited just to see this powerful Watchman team play to their level. When that happens the VHLE better lookout. 208 words

  6. Jake Thunder @Thunder is at 100 TPE
  7. @Thunder can you respond with an affirmative when you hit 100 TPE please
  8. The road to the VHL is a long and arduous one for many players. Ups and downs come and go as players navigate their way from the VHLM to the E, and then on to the big leagues. Very few dominate consistently in each league usually having a learning curve as they reach another league and closer to their dream. No so for Bratislava forward Girts Galvins. Girts has hit each league a step above all others and competes relentlessly. Girts led his VHLM Las Vegas Aces 43 goals 48 assists 91 points. He continued this success in the playoffs and hasn’t taken his foot off the gas in the E. A high pick in the VHL to the Preds (17) and 12th overall In the E. However, I feel as Girts improves those teams that past on him will shake their heads in shame. Since joining the E he has continued to dominate. In 4 games he has 3 goals and 3 assists all of which came on the power play. His offensive play is only a small part of his game too. He’s a true leader in the locker room, amazing at graphics, and is a TPE earning beast. The ceiling is high for the young forward and teams in the E and the VHL better look out.
  9. 1. Yes, I feel like we're starting to put together some chemistry and have some good TPE earners to make us a contender this year. 2. I'm a rookie so I have no comment. Probably to trade Payne for his lack of offensive output and shitty penalties. 3. Girts is an absolute beast! Played against him in the M and he dominated there too. I am happy I am on the same club with him now and also drafted by the same VHL team. Excited to see him keep being a star for the long term. 4. Nope, I love it. We owe it to the City to make that dream come true. 5. He has been a brick wall as of late. I think his ceiling is high and he will stay one of the top goaltenders in the league. 6. Well, I am a little bummed at how my player has played the last few games. I came out decent and had a game winning goal but have been off the scoresheet since. Getting some good hit and blocked shot numbers but with that also comes some costly penalties. Hoping to find a good balance of playing a physical game and contributing to the team offensively.
  10. Scurvy recruited @Thunder for season 82 (2022).
  11. I recently read a post and several responses surrounding retention and just wanted to give you NOOBY’s take on this league and some of my thoughts. I would like to begin with a thank you to the league Admin and leadership for making this league and taking the time out of your lives, so others get some enjoyment. After reading the posts I can see there will always be differences of opinion which I guess is expected when so many care about the direction of this great league. I found this league by mistake and then tried to research it a little. After a few Youtube clips and some forum browsing I bit the bullet and created a player. Now a little about me. I am married 45 years old man with a three-year-old daughter and two-year-old Doberman. I love the game of hockey (Which is what attracted me to the league) but computer savviness is not something I am known for. I am not terrible but anyone who has seen my graphic in a desperate attempt for 6 TPE you know what I mean. To me, the forum is not super user friendly and simple to navigate at first but after a few uses it gets better. Ok so after creating a player I was lucky enough to get a great GM in the minors who helped me navigate the super confusing ways to earn TPE. Had I not had a great GM and some teammates who showed real interest in the league I can see how some newer players could struggle. For me, I was addicted immediately. I awaited each day to see who my shitty defenseman did and to see him improve if I put in some work each week to earn maximum TPE. I guess the hard part for me is there is only a few options for weekly TPE. Media Spot, Podcast, and Graphic are worth the most (6). I suck at graphics (I mean really suck), podcasts I have no clue, so that leaves me to write a 500-word article each week, 2 -150-word articles for (2), 2 reviews (1). I don’t mind writing; it’s just I don’t want to write a different version of the same story every week. I think the addition of writing re-caps for TPE is a great idea for this year. I learned quickly that if you’re willing to put in some work your player will develop and its rewarding to see your player contribute during the season. Some things I really like: Draft Hype- watching my player be discussed by people who have watched was nice. Also, being sent draft cards from teams that were interested in me made me want to keep putting in the work. Draft- Draft was awesome!! I have never watched Twitch in my life, but I found myself immersed in where I went in the draft. Junior showcase - Off season can be rough but this Junior tournament was great. Especially getting like 100 PIMs in 4 games was a nice shake up. Some things I would like better: TPE Points and where/when to get them- Things like prospect report, Junior review, Recruitment, etc are invisible to know when/where to get those points. Thankfully a GM or teammate can point you in right direction but could be clearer. CONCLUSION Overall, I love this league and the people I have met so far. I am a noob still, but I couldn’t be more happy logging in each day to see how my player performed. I am in the E this year and excited to make the jump to VHL someday. As for retention, I am not sure what the answer is. I just wanted to give a newer player’s view of the league. I think for me getting into a good locker room and having good leadership was great for my development. The tutorials are good but having someone tell you what you need to do and when is even better. Maybe more TPE points earned to get players to VHL faster? Incentive points for longevity? Increased points for players starting a new player after retirement so he/she starts with more TPE? For what it’s worth, thank you from Brian Payne.
  12. LOL. We're all friends. Its a ploy to get them to earn TPE fast so I get those damn recruitment bonuses!! @Thunder
  13. What happens in Vegas doesn’t always truly stay in Vegas. When Brian Payne booked a last-minute trip to Vegas to see some family prior to his inaugural VHLE start he never thought it would end up with him in handcuffs, and two severely beaten Las Vegas Aces rookies at his feet. Former San Diego Marlin and current Bratisalva defenseman Brian Payne had been minding his own business walking through the Mandalay Bay casino when rookie Aces Hugh G. Johnson and rookie Jake Thunder started chirping him. Both were taking a night off from training camp and it appeared the White Claws and Orange Creamsicle Martinis were too much for the two promising rookies. What happened next will be re-played on Youtube for decades. The rough 602 225 southpaw defenseman made short work of the two Aces, landing massive bombs on each, knocking the half-drunk Mango White Claws to the ground to be forever lost to the carpets of the casino floor. Feeling bad, Payne tried to sit the two up and revive them, but casino security took him to the ground and detained him. The two Aces decided to not press charges but vowed they would one day get their revenge when they all meet in the VHL. Payne wasn’t concerned, he figured at rate they both earn TPE, he would be retired by then. 

  22. The S82 draft came and went with many players from the VHLM scattering around the world. Defenseman Brian Payne found his way into the Bratislava Watchman locker room with no idea even where this city was located. Feeling like a dumb jock he did some research. Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia, by the borders of Austria and Hungary. Despite higher-than-average petty theft it is a safe city and being located along the Danube River it offers some beautiful scenery. When not in practice or games Payne can enjoy hiking in the Little Carpathian Mountains, bars, bars, and more bars, and museums. Payne looks forward to living in a new City and just hopes the internet is high speed enough for him to play NHL22 in his off time. Having only traveled within the United States, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, and London he is excited to learn more about this exciting and vibrant city. Rumor is he might be rooming with fellow draftee defenseman and renowned ladies’ man Bo Johansson so Payne is excited to see how that goes as well. 182 words
  23. 1. It seems like we got an awesome group of people from all over. I wish them all massive TPE gains, good health, and some wins for Bratislava. 2. That sounds like a massive undertaking. I feel like its a great opportunity as he seems passionate about this league. 3. Its awesome! Buzzer has a great name and getting another solid forward to add to an already solid team. 4. I love the fact that Groves stays in the E for another year. A 40 goal scorer is a huge bonus, and being a rookie its nice to have some solid vets to guide us NOOBS. 5. I'm going with may favorite number. 9 6. I am working at getting may defense to at least 85-90. I want to focus on that before anything else. After that strength and skating will be elevated.
