  2. Great playoffs from Philadelphia! GGs to Las Vegas. Joyo lost in the finals to Vegas last season, so I'm happy he could get some revenge
  3. 1. Feels great! I felt like we were a top team all season long, and it's nice to see us put it together in the playoffs. 2. Sunglasses and suicides 3. Honestly a really difficult question, but I'd give the shout-out to Woody Dickerson for changing the culture of the team mid-season 4. Joel Castle, we're going to need to beat a top VHLM goalie consistently to take the series 5. Rex Wolfe Greggor, he needs to hold down the backline for us. 6. Winning the cup would mean that I was able to move on from the VHLM at the top. I nearly won it last season in a similar circumstance to our current team, and I'd like to seal the deal this time.
  4. From the outside it appeared that everything was going terrifically well for Sunglasses Joyo during his first VHLM season with the Halifax 21st. Joyo scored 81 points in the 63 games he played with the team, and led the VHLM during the playoffs in both goals and points while the Halifax went on an impressive run to the finals (ultimately falling to the Las Vegas Aces). The former Halifax center also received votes for the Matt Bentz trophy and the Skylar Rift trophy. It appeared that both the player and the team would have a lot to be happy about, but then came the press conference... A press conference that only had one rule enforced for their dress code: No sunglasses allowed. A not-so-subtle message about why both managers of the Halifax 21st resigned following season 84, and why Sunglasses Joyo was forced to leave the city and enter 3 separate drafts during the offseason. So what is it that went so wrong in Halifax? Was it Sunglasses Joyo's boyish charm? Did the rest of the team secretly hate sunglasses and players that wear them? Were there bad vibes on the team after Sunglasses Joyo's night terrors kept everyone up all night on road trips? We can only speculate, but now Sunglasses Joyo has found himself a new home in the city of brotherly love. Joyo joins a stacked team, so stacked that he has been pushed to the 2nd line, but the Reapers have talent to surround Joyo even there (including Sunglasses Joyo's former teammate with Halifax in Care Bear!). And, the way it always seems to work out in sports, Joyo did not have to wait for very long to try to get his revenge on Halifax for having dismantled their roster, management, and cheerleading squad. It was apparent from the drop of the puck that Sunglasses Joyo was playing with a grudge, or at least that he would be once the first line shift happened. Sunglasses Joyo scored in the 1st and 2nd period to lead the Reapers to a 2-1 victory, with both of Sunglasses Joyo's goals being assisted by his familiar teammate Care Bear. Joyo was named the first star of the game, and it wasn't long before the entire city of Philadelphia donned sunglasses in support of their new 2nd line center. But, one has to ask: Has Sunglasses Joyo decided to peak too early? It will be hard to build off of this effort and maintain the same level of play over a full season, and surely Philadelphia has bigger goals in their sights than winning their home opener. The truth is that most of this story has still yet to unfold, and that Sunglasses Joyo will need a consistently high level of play in order to make up for the fact that he will ultimately dismantle any team that he is a member of. A lot of eyes will be on Sunglasses Joyo to see if all of this spectacle and fanfare is worth it, but fortunately for the fans of Philadelphia, their 2nd line center's eyes will be protected from even the most ultraviolet of rays.
  5. The VHL Entry Draft has been completed, and the Los Angeles Stars were able to select Sunglasses Joyo near the end of the first round. Sunglasses Joyo will be a prospect for the stars, but his future looks bright after an impressive rookie season in the VHLM that culminated in him having the most points in the playoffs of any player! That run ended disappointingly for Sunglasses Joyo and his Halifax teammates, but the biggest takeaways from this season are positive. Sunglasses Joyo established himself to be a well-rounded player once he was able to acclimate himself to the game, and proved to be a plus to the 21st for passing, shooting, and blocking shots. What lies ahead for him in the future? It's difficult to say at this point, but the Stars must be happy to get a player with this much potential. Their team already has great talent, especially defensively where they have some exciting young players, and it will be interesting to see how Sunglasses Joyo fits into their team dynamic. The fit seems like a good one, but we'll need to wait to see just how good it is until some more development takes place.
  6. 1) We're currently sitting in 2nd place out of 6 teams in the tournament (5-3-1). Do you think we improve or worsen? We get to the playoffs and nobody cares about our seed anyway. As a team, I think we improve and play our best hockey then. 2) Has your player been playing to their expectations? If no, what will you do this week to improve your player? I'm happy with Joyo, I'd like for him to be more of a passer but it's also hard to argue about him having success as a goal-scorer. I like that he is consistently good at +/-, which I think reflects him being well-rounded. 3) We are slowly but surely adding people to our locker room. How does the amount of people change the vibe in the locker room? I like recurrent active users, but I also prefer a smaller team environment personally. I feel like it's easier to know your teammates then. That being said, if they're on our team I hope they join us in the locker room too 4) As we get closer to the end of the tournament, are you worried about the GMs and AGMs of the VHLM scouting your player? Nope, excited! This is the furthest I've gotten with a player in the VLH before and it's been cool to see my guy mentioned in mock drafts and prospect rankings. 5) What team would you most like to join/be drafted to in the VHLM? I loved my experience with Halifax and would be happy to go back, but Sunglasses Joyo is ready for any experience ahead of him 6) When you were younger, what was your dream job? How has that changed? Probably a sports commentator, and I think it changed from me placing less meaning on sports. I still enjoy watching and playing games, but I also found a career that felt like I was doing something better/more needed.
  7. 1. We have added two new players to roster since last week in center The Mediocre One and goaltender Christian McGowan. In an effort for everyone to get to know each other somewhat, write a sentence or two that helps describe who you are! Nice to meet you, my name is Sunglasses Joyo! The entire personality is based on the sunglasses 2. Suppose the VHL were more like the WWE. What would your player's entrance music be? "Sunglasses at Night" - A cover by Sunglasses Joyo 3. After a couple of YouTube ads, we have a stream of new recruits joining the league. What's something we can tell them to convince them to sign with Halifax? I feel like 'playing time + playoffs' is our best recruiting pitch, and then we trick them into signing contracts by holding a spur-of-the-moment 'Who can sign their name the fastest?' contest. 4. Speaking of recruiting new players to sign with us, most GMs usually do so by coming up with some snazzy hashtag. Should I also be utilizing a snazzy hashtag? If so, what should it be? If not, why? I'm having trouble pretending to be disappointed about the lack of hash tags up until this point. What we need is the Hali emoji rebrand. 5. What is something you would say you're the most passionate about? Stopping hatred. I think a lot of people in the world choose to hate when they don't need to, and that it's frightening to me how casual some forms of hatred have become. 6. Suppose you were Naked and Afraid™ on a small jungle island for two weeks. What are three things you would bring with you? Number 1 has got to be my Sunglasses, otherwise I would possibly die. 2 - A decoy island to place away from mine, just in case my enemies find me first. 3 - Hard call when I still don't have food, shelter, and potentially drinkable water. My hearts telling me it has to be a backup pair of sunglasses though
  8. 1. I guess I can write a Press Conference now and then. Write at least a sentence describing how nice @Quik is for doing last week's PC. Very nice. 2. Sam and I will most likely be fired after this season because of discriminatory league leaders. Whom do you think would be good candidates to replace us as a General Manager duo? Your alter egos who wear sunglasses full-time 3. We're less than a week from the trade deadline! Should Halifax be buyers or sellers? Why? Buyers! It would be nice to have a 2nd defenseman for the playoffs if we could get one 4. This week is Theme Week! Are you going to do a Point Task to take advantage of the double points? What specifically was it/will it be about? easy +15 uncapped 5. Speaking of Theme Week, the VHL is now 15 years old. What memories do you have from being 15, if any? That's probably prime World of Warcraft years for me, so I guess you could say I was pretty damn cool 6. Saskatchewan is starting to calm down from a heat wave, despite how much I love it. Describe your perfect Summer day. I like end-of-summer into Fall the best, Fall is my favorite season actually. My perfect summer day would be out by the water with a breeze
  9. Is the VHLM ready for a star player who exclusively wears sunglasses? A player by the name Sunglasses Joyo has been making some headlines in the VHLM recently, and the Halifax 21st must be pleased with how the first-year center has played. In a developing story however, it appears that not everybody is so keen on congratulating the youngster... -- “It disrespects the game” said a referee who asked to remain anonymous, and whose name we were entirely unaware of anyway. “All he does is sunglasses this! sunglasses that! Back in my day, you come into the rink with sunglasses like that, you’ll be leaving with a whole new pair!” -- -- After spending a few minutes explaining his joke, the referee then chose to speak out about the competitive advantages of wearing sunglasses. -- “How is a defenseman supposed to know where he’s looking if he keeps on wearing those sunglasses? What if I was trying to shine a bright light in his eyes before a shot, and the sunglasses made it impossible? Other players don’t get that kind of an advantage! His sunglasses can only be bad for the game!” -- -- Potentially true, but amidst the controversy of the mysterious Sunglasses Joyo has been a surprising season for the Halifax 21st. Jeffrey Bezos leads the league in points with 68 in 41 games. Defenseman Brodie Landry is tied for 2nd in the league in assists with 39. Goalie Geoff Bezos is top-5 in the league in save % (.912%) and Goals Against Average (2.39). This is especially impressive considering that Halifax 21st only have 1 defenseman signed to a contract. There are a lot of stories that make Halifax a fun team to follow this year, but for some this is all for naught. They will judge the 21st solely on the player who aims to break down the eyewear boundary, Sunglasses Joyo, and his insistence to always wear his sunglasses. -- “I think of the greats. Tiger Woods. LeBron James. Michael Jordan. Ethan Mann. Jacob Cookie Jr. Wow. I don’t see any of those players needing to hide behind sunglasses to play the sport. It's a gimmick, and I can see right through it!” -- -- Time will tell whether Sunglasses Joyo is able to establish himself as a player beyond his sunglasses, and perhaps even win over some of the more old-fashioned fans with his play. Joyo has proven himself be a creative passer with 24 goals through 32 games. Recently his goal-scoring has sky-rocketed, with Sunglasses Joyo having 6 goals over the past 3 games. He also appears to be an effective player on the ice for Halifax, as he is the 2nd-highest player on the team for +/- at +14. Amidst all the controversy that surrounds him, it appears that no stage is too bright for Sunglasses Joyo and the Halifax 21st. The team continues to improve as they prepare for the upcoming playoffs, where one can only imagine what kind of signs opposing teams will make to attack Sunglasses Joyo. -- With a talented roster and strong leadership in place though, perhaps this could be the stage where Sunglasses Joyo truly breaks out…
  10. When Sunglasses Joyo decided that he was going to play minor-league hockey, collegiate-basketball, and professional Rocket League simultaneously, some questioned whether the man was spreading himself to thin. Indeed, some of these questions seem to be valid. How would he change the dimensions of his body so drastically while also playing center in basketball? Does he know how to skate? Has he ever experienced a world where he was not wearing sunglasses? Most of these questions have been somewhat answered by now, as Sunglasses Joyo continues to make all who chose to doubt him look like fools, soaring his way towards becoming a competent minor league Hockey player. "The kids in school used to pick on him about how he could never grow up to be a minor-league hockey player, and I think that ended up really motivating my sweet Sunglasses Joyo" said the mother of the 1st-year center in an unprompted voice mail she left for several local news agencies. Sunglasses Joyo has had some impressive moments with the Halifax 21st. He has 18 assists through 23 games (to go along with 7 goals), and he also has the 2nd best +/- on the team at +5. Perhaps Sunglasses Joyo's biggest impact has been off the ice though, as his presence has unveiled a deep discriminatory attitude from the VHLM executives and referees against players who wear sunglasses. Consider: VHLM game 165: Halifax 21st win 2-1. Sunglasses Joyo assists the game-tying goal, and then scores the game-winning goal in the shootout Sunglasses Joyo is still not named a top-3 star. Neither Sunglasses Joyo nor his mother will stand for this treatment in the future.
  11. 1. What's the best thing for a new player to know 2. What's the best VHL team to hope to be drafted by 3. What's your go-to karaoke song 4. Would you rather have no feet or no hands? 5. Favorite album of all-time? 6. What was the best NHL game you've watched?
  12. 1. I would like to welcome Sunglasses Joyo with bags and bags of cash. Jacob Cookie Jr should be rewarded similarly, with excessive amounts of money. 2. Loosely I like Matt Barzal as a player model 3. EFL affiliation 4. We've got to keep building as a team! Only matters how good you are at the end of the season 5.
