  5. Last week before the season starts. The most of it was spent cleaning up our arena after the VHLM dispersal draft took place here. You can imagine what a Bazooka Joe @ScottyP draft class looks like, especially when he invited Logan Ninefingers @Scurvy to watch, just so he can try to impress Ferro Maljinn with his draft position. Logan is now called the Bloody-Nine in Mexico as well, because there were just nine draft selections before things got bloody. Good thing red is our secondary color. Another major thing happening was naming the team captains for the upcoming season, as voted by the players, with me taking the liberty to break the 3-way tie. Giving the As to two rookies might seem bold, but Agustin Martinez @SleepyPlayz seamlessly fitted in and started leading by example with their work ethic - despite their 6'7 Philippino ass always looking annoyed - and Pepe Silvia @STZ immediately became a favorite both among the teammates and among the fans. How cool it is to see a goaltender with an A? The C going to Ronan Amnon @Breeze837 was a no-brainer in my opinion. Ronan is a beloved teammate, one of the premier two-way defenders who has been a part of this team for some time and could be remembered as one of the all-time great Kings. The first games are set to start in a few hours. The lines are in, blood sacrifice to Simon has been made. In Czechia, we open Christmas presents on December 24 evening, so I didn't get the opportunity to wake up all excited for them. Considering VHL sims are typically run when I'm sleeping, I guess they're a good substitute for me.
  6. You're never gonna let me live my SBA career down, are you jk, fair, I can imagine it's the same everywhere
  7. Let's go win some fucken games!
  8. Story building is one of the most fun things in the VHL imo
  9. I've always enjoyed woodworking. I made enclosures for my snakes, posted the photos in local reptile group, got some questions about where I got them...that's how I started building 3 or 5 custom enclosures a year lol. Plus selling some extra feeder mice and rats I breed.
  10. Šťastný a veselý fellas

  12. First thing to take care of soon after my Mexico tenure started was the VHLM Dispersal Draft. After discussing draft strategy with Agito, we came to the conclusion we should draft a goaltender in the first round, a forward in the second round, and use the rest on defensemen. With this in mind, the interviews were started. However, there was a slight oversight on my side. Our only two defensemen as well as the twi highest TPE players on the roster had to be dropped to free agency. Considering it was past the period a GM could talk extensions with their players, but before the FA discussions opened, we had no guarantee whether or not would they come back. This inevitably changed our draft strategy. Our top priority was still a goaltender, considering we had none, but focusing on a defenseman in the second. The start to the D-men interview process was quite frantic, and I didn't hear back from a lot od them, which made our draft board not as long as we would like. Things are always bound to change, comes the draft day. My first selection was Pepe Silvia. And it was definitely not an easy choice between him and Toby Bob. I had my eyes set on a particular defenseman in the 2nd round with our 15th overall pick. But he was gone by then, and the drop off between him and the next D-man was too big to justify skipping Agustin Martinez, who I believe will be a massive steal, and has the potential to build a first-gen hall of fame player. I thought I'd take a defenseman in the third eound, there was a certain player I hoped would fall to us. Sadly, he didn't. By the time we were picking in the 3rd round, all active defensemen were gone. That's how we ended up with drafting another bunch of forwards. I was really happy with the forward selections, as they were all players on out draft board - meaning players who responded to draft interviews. Immediately after the draft, I went to talk to the two defenders leaving prior to the draft, and this is where our fortune turned around a bit, as both were happy to re-join the Kings, which I'm super grateful for. I pursued another defender, however he chose to join another team. And the defender I'm pursuing now is looking like going IA before joining any team. Overall, I think we made some strides, but ultimately, it's up to Simon to decide.

  22. So, the VHL granted me the honor of being one of the general managers of the development league. It is my first full-time GM position. I had GMed at a few tournaments before, as well as a short stint as an AGM with @STZ's Houston - where, to be honest, I didn't feel like I did a good job. But STZ believed in me and said I'd do well as a GM, so I didn't give up. There was a little bit of an obstacle between me abd becoming a GM, and that's the fact an STHS client can only run on a Windows 10/11 device, which I didn't own. I don't know what was the sudden wave motivation, but one day I just said screw it, and bought a second hand laptop with Windows for the sole purpose of giving GMing a try. With this sorted out, I knew I didn't want to GM in the VHLM right away, but rather start in the VHLE (R.I.P.) or in the top league for a simple reason - I didn't feel confident enough to be the first GM first generation players work with. But this perception has since changed, obviously, mostly thanks to @Ricer13. I was his AGM at the JST two seasons ago (I think), and I actually found it fun being around new members. Kind of a 180 turn for me. Even though it later came to light Grog wasn't a first gen, but rather Achilles's multi account. Anyway, STZ and Ricer are the people most responsible for me finally deciding to give it a go, along with @jacobcarson877 trusting me enough to let me in the inner circle both in London and in Houston, a team I didn't play for. So what has happened in Mexico so far? Out of the blue, @Agito offered his help as an AGM. It was a strange coincidence, because I had not planned to actively post a job interview, but rather to dm a few people whom I know and trust and who are currently not GMing or AGMing and tell them I'd be happy to have them on board, in case they were interested. And Agito was one of those people, we have some history together from my first gen player's VHLE stint. I was so happy he came back. Currently, the draft is set to start in a few hours. It's past 9 p.m. for me, I'll try to get 3 hours of sleep before the draft. No way I'm missing my first draft as a GM. Last few days were revolving around scouting close to everyone in the draft class and creating a draft board, which is coming together nicely. Why close to everyone rather than just everyone? There were 5 or so players who have either looked like going IA already, or did not fit the plans. But the biggest news so far have been Ronan Amnon @Breeze837 and Carl Erhardt @Elite Steel having to leave for free agency. Both were at the moment the highest TPE players on the roster, and both are defensemen. I'm sure they will find great spots for the next season. No matter which team they end up playing for, I wish them both the best. That's all for this week. Next up: draft and free agency.
