How does it feel to come back with a reverse sweep to win it? 3. What player was the MVP of the series? 4. Was the conditioning training enforced by your new Head Coach a factor in your ability to keep up your energy into the latter games of the series? 5. Next you guys have the Miami Marauders. Who will need to step it up to get the win? 6. What player from Miami does your team have to key in on and neutralize most?
  2. Brigade Press Conferences Week Ending 10/23 (Answer 6 for 2 TPE.) 1. How does it feel to finally know what team you will be representing in the JST? 2. What about this current Brigade roster and staff excites you most? 3. Recently, a team vote decided on Skor McFleury as the Captain. What qualities make him the ideal choice to be the on and off the ice leader of this squad? 4. What line do you think you should be placed on considering the rest of the team's talent? 5. Who do you think will be the team MVP by the end of the tournament? 6. What complaints if any do you have with the current management of the team? Thanks for your time.
  3. The Brigade are please to announce the locker room has voted on who will be the team's Captains and Alternate Captains (or as we like to call them, Lieutenants!) Now for your S85 locker room leaders. For the first Alternate.... It's Jason Lajeunesse Jr!!! It wasn't the most expected choice but we certainly hope Jason will make a big impact on the team and do us proud on the ice and off it. Wearing the second Alternate patch, it's Adam Rage!! Rage was a major reason his Marlins took their first round series to 6 games and he was an immediate front runner in voting. Rage is sure to make his presence felt this tournament and his experience, being part of last year's JST, should be a huge asset for this team. And now.... The Captain of the Brigade.... Graphic Credit: @Masu Chan Skor McFleury has been once of the most successful members of the S87 class and is hoping to make his impact on the tournament felt immediately just like he was able to with the Mexico City Kings. This is an Offensive Defenseman through and through. The only thing broken with Skor around is the ankles of would be defenders. Thank you to all the Brigade players who participated in the vote, I appreciate the activity in the locker room immensely, going to be announcing some fun stuff here soon for us all to enjoy.

  6. Welcome back to the Ripple Effect with Todd Ripley! Today we are going to take a look at the now 3-2 series between the leading Lynx and the Reapers. After being down 3-0, Philadelphia has broken the chains holding them back and battled in a tough 2 wins. Here is what Head Coach, Woody Dickerson, has to say after the game 4 loss, "I'm not taking any questions, we just have to take better advantage of special team chances and not give so many to the opponents." While that hasn't totally changed since that game, the team has seemed to adapt and focus on a more defensive style 5 on 5. This has come at the cost of offensive chances as they only managed 17 shots in a close 2-1 victory tonight. Dickerson did take questions after the team's second win in the series. "We tried to limit their chances more and they may have racked up the shots on us, but the spots they were coming from gave Evan [Bihler] a better angle to make the saves. It showed on the stat sheet. It also helps when the PK shuts them out on 6 chances. Some guys you wouldn't expect to get us on the board struck. Overall, we need to still do better to avoid the penalty kill, our stars need to get onto the stat sheet under the G column, and we need to pepper Rask with shots." We are excited to see if the Philadelphia Reapers can make the appropriate adjustments and get this series to a game 7. week ending 10/16 263 words
  7. @Matt_Oi forgot to mention you will likely get 1st or 2nd pairing time depending how we decide to split our defense up.
  8. hi @Matt_O, I'm the GM for the Brigade in the Junior Showcase Tournament. We have one of the most diverse locker rooms in the tourney featuring at least a player from every VHLM team except the Hounds. We hope to compete but more importantly I want to reward our most active participants with playing time, no matter their TPE. If you are interested in joining a solid team with solid and supportive teammates, quote this and say #fowardmarch to enlist!
  9. how did you even do this?
  10. Man, what does a fan have to do for a cup holder. LOL jk... love this. Insane work my guy.
  11. I think it can be simultaneously true that the questions are very imposing for a new player and that the solution shouldn't be giving them the answers directly. I can think of a few personal exceptions I would make but those are very niche and would always be accompanied by the path I took to the solution. To elaborate on my original point there, you join the server. Someone tells you trivia is an easy 2 TPE and you hop on the portal and start the trivia. Now you get a question about an award winner from the past, where is awards? Well on the portal there isn't an award tab. Because awards are buried under the HOF tab. Intuitively I wouldn't guess that. The only reason I personally figured that out was a lot of scrolling in a channel on the main VHL discord. Then you get to the ones where the answer is on the forum. Alot of people just simply aren't adept at navigating a forum like this or knowing how to find specific stuff. At what point is just giving an answer so much different than just linking someone the page it's on? That doesn't help them learn to navigate the portal or forum at all. Idk, maybe I have rambled a bit here but I think this highlights my general thought on this as someone who did join like a month ago.
  12. @BlueEagleWelcome to the VHL, I'm Piffer - Assistant to the General Manager of the Philadelphia Reapers. We are currently an underdog looking to make an impact in the postseason after just clinching a berth recently. Currently we are unable to offer more than bottom 6 ice time, but the potential to earn special teams minutes exists. The GM and I are both pretty active. I personally am around a lot of the time and will generally be able to help you in any way you need to start your career. We are building a good locker room culture and getting newer players in and helping them grow is my top priority! If this appeals to you, quote this saying #fearthereaper and our wonderful GM @Lemorse7will get that contract drawn up ASAP! Good luck no matter where you choose to play.
  13. Week of 10/16 Press Conferences!(Answer all 6 for 2 TPE.) 1. After no games in the previous sim, the team came out with great performances at both ends of the ice. How much does that extra rest help the team as far as fatigue and preparation? 2. The Reapers have officially clinched a playoff berth. How does that feel after a long season of hard work? 3. What playoff matchup would you like to see most in round 1? 4. Which team are you hoping to avoid? 5. How many wins do you think this team needs in the final 6 games to feel really good and confident heading into the postseason? 6. Who do you think will need to step up the most as an individual for the Reapers to make a deep run? Thanks for your time.
  14. this offer seems really good, you should totally accept it Woog. also, im the AGM and im like... the coolest guy.

  18. Hello again readers of the Ripple Effect. I'm Todd Ripley and welcome back to your favorite blog. Last week, I got into the nitty gritty of being a VHLM GM and after reviewing my records, realized I made a mistake. I left out the interview of the General Manager for the top team in the whole league. To my loyal readers, I'm sorry for this graves error. I hope to improve in the future. With that said, the following is the transcript of that conversation with Shindigs. - Ripley: With the deadline approaching and your team solidly atop the conference, many view Las Vegas as a likely destination for players on the trade block. Does your front office currently have any plans to make moves in preparation for a cup run? Shindigs: Not really, I believe in building my team at the draft. Any trades I make this season will be to setup the next GM (as I'm stepping down at the end of the season) to do their thing next season. Just like the trades I made last season were to set myself up for success this season. I believe in the roster we have and the growth throughout our lineup. So, unless a golden opportunity presents itself, we'll likely not make any moves. Ripley: The Aces are one of just two teams to have multiple top 10 defensemen in points. I've asked many General Managers about the uptick in more offensively minded defenders, and I'd like to see where you stand. How much does it matter to your team's offense to have great puck movers behind your forwards? What composition of defensemen archetypes do you prefer to have on your units? Shindigs: We've got more or less a full set of DFD making up our primary core. They all have some offense, but in an ideal world I normally run DFD/TWD Since even OFD in our engine are essentially TWD by normal hockey standards, due to the power of the DF rating in our engine. We play a very possession centric style in Vegas though, so I absolutely 100% want at least one Checking DFD on every pairing if I can help it. Beyond that it's whatever my defensemen want to build. The DFD will funnel so many pucks through them, they will get points even without a large investment in offensive attributes. Ripley: Your team has lost 3 of their last 4 games. That rough stretch was directly preceded by a dicey game against the Mississauga Hounds in which it took a goal in the final 2 minutes of play to win the game. Do you find it necessary to make adjustments after these types of streaks, or do you generally err on the side of a "it worked before, it can work again" type of approach? Shindigs: We've just had a run of unlucky goaltending. The shot totals have still been massively in our favor for this rocky stretch, apart from I think one game against HFX where we got outshot? Most games have been pure domination as far as the skaters have been concerned, with the goalies swinging the games on their own. Nothing I do has any impact on the game-to-game performance of goalies, so no changes are needed. We had that 14-game winning streak leading into this rough patch, so we were due some tough luck. Since a lot of the wins in that 14-game stretch we didn't really deserve and were down to, again, goalie performances. I see this as our luck just evening out a bit. I'm not worried long term though. It also helps a lot of the losses have been in OT/SO so we're still picking up points. - Thank you for reading. See you next week.
  19. Hello @tylerwest, I'm Assistant to the General Manager of the Philadelphia Reapers. We are a likely playoff team with tons of opportunities for young Defensemen to make an immediate impact. You would step in with top pairing minutes alongside immediate Special Teams opportunities off the jump. I'm around often to help with anything you may need on your VHLM journey as I'm personally quite active. If you are interested just reply with #fearthereaper and @ our GM @Lemorse7to get yourself into the contract signing process!
