Bazooka Joe! Well Rip is still wheelin’ and dealin’ with the Vancouver Wolves for his last hurrah….but, a new day has begun. Starting back in the M….I never thought I’d be playing in the VHL period, let alone starting in my second gen player! All the credit goes to Scrvy and Sharky aka Thunder. The two guys that talked enough shit, guilt tripped me enough to become part of the VHL family. Along the way, I’ve “met” some really cool people..Ricer, Frank and Gaikoku-hito…along with everyone else in that spent time in the wranglers and wolves locker rooms. Preciate you guys! I’m not the best earner or an every day locker room guy…but I’m trying! lol Anyways, I’m back at it with “Bazooka Joe”…and have found a mid season landing spot with the Savages from south beach! Super pumped to be a part of the Marauders fam and looking forward to the upcoming VHLM draft! The name, well it kinda just happened. Scurvy has some influence, but when I think of Bazooka Joe…I think of bubble gum, America, and big time clappers from the blue line. And along with bourbon, these are some of my favorite things! So, that’s what it’s gonna be moving forward…Joes gonna be a bit of a meat head, but with some skills to help the boys on both ends of the ice.

1) TNT - AC/DC 2) Hockey, NHL late 80s early 90s enforcer hayday. 3) pregame shot of Blanton’s, neat. Just to get the juices flowing. 4) Solid tender is the backbone of any successful team. Shutouts make it easy in the boys up front! Just score a geno and it’s a dub! 5) Always good to add some sandpaper to the room…grit and glue…hallmarks of a team built to last. 6) set up the goal…as a defensemen especially, my job is to feed the boys…set em op for success!

This seasons leadership group is solid! 5) Ninefingers - Hater Jones. And Bollos - Old dog, same tricks! 6) Weekend after thanksgiving…any other answer is wrong.

1) Russia hacked the server. 2) 0 3) Hoping the transition to defense helps the club. I’d like rip to keep a point per game average…probably more assist heavy this season. 4) First place in our conference. Long playoff run. 5) Riga tanks after winning the cup last season. 6) absolutely no idea.

Interviewer: Rip, thanks for joining us tonight…you're coming off a solid regular season. How do you feel going into the playoffs? Rip: Ah, man, I'm feeling uh, pretty good baud. We've uh, got a great team, and uh we're playing some really good hockey right now ya know. And uh, I’m uh excited to see what we can do in playoffs. Interviewer: Any particular teams you're looking forward to facing? Rip: Nah, um ah, not really. I mean, I'm uh, always up for a good challenge, but uh, ya know, I don't really have any uh specific teams in mind. I just want to play whoever's in front of us and try to beat them…and uh if we uh play our game, the uh rest will take care of itself. Interviewer: You're known for your sense of humor off the ice. Any funny moments during the season you can share? Rip: honestly baud, I’m kinda locked in right now…and uh just focused…I’ve taken the bye week and uh really dialed it in…and uh I feel ready ya know, uh ready to make a run. Locked in baud. Interviewer: Any words for the youngsters looking forward to a long Vancouver wolves playoff run? Rip: Just uh ya know, buckle up…we uh have put in the uh work and uh ya know It's a tough league, but if you keep believing yourself and the boys (and girl) in the room…and uh if you uh work hard and keep your head down uh, anything is within reach. Interviewer: Thanks for the time Rip and good luck in the playoffs! Rip: Thanks baud, we’re ready and uh locked in and loaded…excited to get er goin!

1) Seattle in 5. 2) Nah, when we get to the end and face whoever, it ain’t gonna matter. Gonna be in beast mode. 3) No clue…focused on mental reps and making sure I don’t let sharky and scurvy down. 4) Just nose to the grindstone, hard work and dedication…and whiskey. 5) Van all day everyday…feeling good about the momentum we have from the end of the year..let’s ride! 6) I think the curse isn’t real, but I predict Moscow will not make it back to the finals.

1) I think expectations were high this season and rightfully so. If Sharky aka Thunder didn’t piss off Simon we would’ve had a better start. Hopefully that’s behind us as we gear up for the playoffs! 2) I think Rip has met expectations. Would like to see him breakout during the playoffs. 3) I was playing in a in-line tournament in Vancouver when I was 19…absolutely smoked a dude on an open ice (sport court? lol) hit..got 5 and a game. As I was coming back from the locker room he jumped me outside the rink and tuned me up pretty good….then later we had beers in the parking lot..good times z 4) No idea…I agree with whatever Frank thinks. 5) Seattle, love smashing them. 6) Liv Slater…total stud this season!

Rookie Stories and recap with Scotty P: VHL: Games: 72 Goals: 3 Assists: 3 Pointe: 6 Hits: 129 Season 89, Calgary Wranglers: What a shitty showing for Rips first year in the show! 6 points in 72 games…hopefully the fireball in the locker room and partying on the weekends made up for it! Definitely still learning my way in the VHL, but damn…I forgot how dismal it was! Glad I had some studs to make our season a success by getting to the playoffs. Rip was invisible in the playoffs, which matched his horrid regular season output. For rookies, sometimes you’re the hammer…but for the most part, Rip was the nail. VHLE: Games: 72 Goals: 15 Assists 19 Points: 34 Hits: 158 Season 88, Oslo Storm: Slightly better than Rips first season in the show…still not exactly tearing up Europe! 34 points was decent, and a respectable 158 hits! Again, lucky to be surrounded by much better talent that helped get Rip 34 points in the 72 games. Another longer stint in the playoffs, which was fun to actually experience in Europe…if I remember right it was 13 games which got us close to the ship! VHLM: Games: 72 Goals: 30 Assists: 47 Points: 77 Hits: 194 Season 87, Las Vegas Aces: Rip actually tore it up in his first ever season. 194 hits along with averaging more than a point per game with 30 goals and 47 assists. I enjoyed my time with the aces and it was a fun locker room. I was still learning my way with Rip and in hindsight probably could have made Rip even more productive if I had a clue how to earn like a boss! Which I still struggle with! Haha A playoff stint helped me to learn what it takes to get there and about how it all works in the VHL. If I had a regret is was probably not staying another year in the VHLM. Would been a producer and enabled me to learn more about earning TPE and what it takes to make it all happen in the VHL. NHL rookie memories: Pavel Bure aka the “Russian Rocket”: The Russian Rocket stormed out of the gates with 60 points (34 goals, 26 assists) in 65 games in 1991-92. He ended up winning the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie. I remember watching him play that year…I was young (6 at the time), but have a solid memory. He was like a cheat code with his crazy speed, end to end rushes and highlight reel goals. He was young and new and just took the league by storm. That was my first girly jersey, #10 in the Canuck’s black yellow and red! And as his career progressed playing with Alexander Mogilny and Trevor Linden. Some of my favorite Canuck’s at that time was Gino Odjick. Just a savage hockey player with the toothless look to match! I’ll never forget. The battles of Alberta, the coaches corner with Don Cherry and Ron Maclean…some of my favorite memories was hanging with my dad and watching Hockey Night in Canada double headers. “Old time hockey”…”when I doubt get it out”, “he’s an absolute beauty!”.

1) 7.5 - solid memories of watching nhl faves growing up. Hard to come up with stuff. 2) it’s tough…and a lot to work through and learn. I’d say just ask questions and lean on the locker room. 3) Sharky! Haha nah, nobody, like our squad…just need to get the scoring rolling. 4) Probably Randy Bobandy…he’s tearing it up with 84 points this year…total stud. 5) I trust Frank and I’m hoping Rip stays off the block! 6) Only remember watching Johnny Hockey play. Just had silky mits and out together a ton of highlight reel goals. Horrible tragedy for that family.
