  1. Damn!! This is awesome, thanks Frank it looks amazing!
  2. Interesting questions! Answers: 1. Unfortunately a million dollars doesn't cut it anymore as the max amount to live comfortably or retire comfortably anymore in my area. Maybe 3 million minimum for the bare minimum? 25 mil minimum to have a exaggerated lifestyle and be able to spend more on others, do fun things and invest. 2. We actually moved out to the country side after the pandemic! Here is a what we looked for and needed accessable: schools close by for when we started a family, community grocer close to the house, access to the lake from our house (we got a 10 minute walking distance thing going on that isn't too bad at all!). Things I wish we had out here: transit (I don't have my license and have to rely on my partner to get me places), more variety in restaurants (I like food and where I live there is not a lot of variety of different foods), the convenience of food delivery services like door dash and Uber eats (we are too far away to get those and with the amount of overtime I do in my industry and working from home those food delivery services are really helpful). 3. I think I would! I'd want to explore as much as I could on our planet first. There are a ton of places here I'd love to visit and see before leaving the planet. I have a weird fear that something crazy and apocalyptic could happen on another world like the Outriders video game, or Mass Effect Andromeda, or it could be a really awesome adventure of a lifetime with no panic lol. Questions for the next person up: 1. If you had to move to a different country for work where would you move to and why? 2. Is there a brand your player won't use as a sponsor? How come? 3. If you had to live in a fictional world from a comic, tv series, novel, film, etc... what one would you pick and why?
  3. Answers for der meister because I already did them when I saw Scoop's reply come through: 1 - I got to this late but it is one of our kid's birthday's on Monday so we did a weekend family celebration on Sunday. She's a toddler and really loves puppies so we went with a puppy theme and got some of those balloon dogs with weighted feet so you could "walk" them once they are filled with helium. It was a big hit and then we got to eat cake! 2 - Slater is practicing hard this weekend. She's on her last and final season before retirement and wants to go out with a bang! Hopefully a good one. Here's to hoping all her hard work with practice pays off so she can help the Wolves win a cup. If you were at the rink at all you'd see her there the whole weekend. 3 - Breathe, Laugh, Worry, endless sleep. Answers: 1. I haven't been paying too much attention to the happenings in the league this season which is sad because it is my last season for Slater. I guess I'm just surprised my last season snuck up on Slater! 2. Gotta go with New York Americans, that is a long streak. Maybe we'll see them come through with some crazy wins. 3. Probably way to early to be excited for this but.... Christmas! Now that I have kids I'm looking forward to making it a really fun experience. I tend to go overboard on gifts for people, I really enjoy Christmas shopping. So I'm looking forward to sending gifts for my family and friends. Kids are too young to be able to go trick or treating this Halloween so I'll be more excited for that later on. Questions for the next person up! 1. Does your player have any plans for this Halloween? 2. If your player had to switch to a different position what would you switch them to and why? 3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself personally that we might not know!
  4. Ooo good questions Answers: 1. I'd pick Oslo Storm because I'm biased towards that team and won a cup with them! I'd replace London with Oslo. Mostly because I've heard some of the London team had wanted to relocate to Scotland anyways so I don't think they'd be too sad to see it go. 2. From a selfish standpoint yes, yes I do. It was great feeling seeing your player perform really well and know that you've taken your player in a good direction. Personally it felt like I achieved something great with my player that a GM was willing to take them on early / take a chance on them. 3. Took a stab at doing a comic style costume and I think the drawn on comic makeup was pretty good for my limited art skills. Questions: 1. Do you join and participate in the live drafts? 2. If you had to add another segment to the love drafts what you are? 3. Do you do anything for Halloween? Why or why not?
  5. League Drafts: A Damn Good Time What makes the live drafts in the league so darn good? There is something in the air during draft time. The atmosphere, the excitement, the smell of the VHL! There is nothing more exciting than finding out where your player will potentially be drafted and watching your teammates and friends be drafted as well. The live drafts in the league are one of my favorite things to tune into too. A lot of work goes into them. The Hosts of Commissioners, GMs and Special Guests that present always seem to excel in their knowledge of players, the league, past seasons, etc… They do an incredible job of keeping the draft serious and light hearted at the same time. The shoutouts to those joining in the twitch stream chat and keeping the viewers engaged while engaging with them is a tough task that they make look like a walk in the park. The addition of graphics, videos, music and not to mention marbles! All of these help to sell the draft as the total package of a good time. If you are a newcomer who isn't sure about tuning into any of the drafts I highly encourage you to give it a chance. You'll get to hear from some fantastic members in the league and be part of the moment! Kudos to the Commish, GMs, AGMs, Hosts and Specials guests for the VHLM and VHL drafts. You guys have been doing an awesome job with them! Word count: 251
  6. Stone is holding on strong to the Jake Wylde Trophy! Slater's dropped off since then, isn't even a defensemen anymore haha
  7. The title made me chuckle! Enjoyed your dot com
  8. Answers: 1. The Houston Bulls I really enjoyed my time on that VHLM team and it was the first team I joined. If I had time it would be enjoyable walking new members as an M GM through motions of the league. 2. Ah shoot I haven't been paying too much attention this season to know who might be drafted first. Looking at the M leadership board for stats at points right now Joel Jakobs might have a good chance at a first pick? 3. I like Halloween stuff for kids and to celebrate with my kids. Candy is always a plus. But I absolutely hate the fake plastic masks and gore the adults have for Halloween whether that be costumes or decor. It just grosses me out, I'm not a fan of those Halloween baking shows because why would I want to eat something that looks gross lol. I get the fun in it, I'm just a party pooper for that side of it. Questions: 1. Do you have any new rivals going into the new season? Or if you are retiring who would you say your biggest rival was last season? 2. Is there a forum user who media spots, podcasts or graphics you really enjoy checking out more than others, what makes their stuff stand out? 3. Are you celebrating or doing anything for Halloween this year?
  9. I swear I love them! Lol, I actually just really like using the grey the text colour personally. Good call out for those using the light mode haha! I can switch it to a darker grey so it works better for both modes, or just a different colour. I like changing the text colour for articles
  10. VHL's Unofficial Hot Topic of the Week Trivia Edition Brought to you by the *VHL's Unofficial News *The VHL's Unofficial source of happenings around the league There have been grumblings among discord and on the forum of users running out of Trivia questions. This also includes yours truly. It turns out users were running out of Trivia questions and trivia was deactivated. However some people still had a few remaining questions so it's been turned back on. In a bid to help with the little amount I could, I frantically submitted two new trivia questions. Please hold your applause, there is no need to thank me. I'm just doing my part as any good old VHLer would do. Hot off the press from the VHL general discord chat this Monday morning in Pacific Standard Time, it sounds like the BOG is working on a solution for trivia and there has been a suggestion to remove old outdated questions. The latter is a bit up in the air and was just part of the discussion happening in the chat with no hard evidence yet as to whether or not that will be done. With trivia being one of the more popular Point Tasks to do in the league, many users who rely on trivia as their extra 2 point TPE task will now have to resort to either doing a press conference or a couple of reviews. It seems that looking at the forum's recent flood of activity on replies to graphics and media spots that most users have resorted to writing reviews this week. Do these users enjoy doing reviews more than trivia now that they have to do it in place of a trivia question? We don't know as we didn't ask anyone! But time will tell once trivia questions have been replenished and if we see a multitude of responses to graphics and media spots on the forum. Exciting news in terms of Trivia was also announced recently! A new Head of Trivia was announced. A big congratulations is in order to Corco who is taking over as Head of Trivia from N0HBDY! Thank you N0HBDY for an outstanding job as the HoT during your time as the HoT. Corco wishing you all the best in your new role as HoT! May it be as spicy as the acronym for Head of Trivia is . With all the commotion surrounding Trivia recently, we are all looking forward to seeing what happens next. May the trivia gods give us an abundance of questions! That folks is a wrap for this week's Hot Topic of the VHL. See you next week! Is there a trivia question you'd like to see or have been aching to pitch? Don't forget you can submit trivia questions! Each season you can submit a maximum of two trivia questions for review that might be picked up in the trivia question rotation for a maximum of 2 TPE each season if picked. Check out this link if you've yet to submit a question and would like to: https://vhlforum.com/topic/135300-trivia-question-submission-thread/ Word Count: 520
  11. A rambling of random thoughts as retirement looms ahead... With retirement right around the corner I've come to the crossroads of do I recreate right away? Or do I take a break... Things in the real world have been a bit hectic. As some of you know Triller and I welcomed another future VHLer this year. This new change has taken some time away from being able to do point tasks ahead of time which I enjoyed doing previously. I find myself scrambling till the last minute to get something out. I've been finding the quality of my point tasks for graphics are not as up to par as I'd like them to be. Any articles I do, I will go through and edit but with my mind half functioning most of the time, my grammar edits tend to slip through the cracks. This has been due to time limitations and sleep deprivation. I don't think either will be slowing down anytime soon! Even so, I don't want to let my team down and I'd like my player to perform the best they can. So while my quality of work is down and things are being submitted at the last second, I'll continue to push through. “For the Horde!” Or I guess this isn't WoW so I should be saying “For the Wolves!”. Getting back on track to the first sentence of this rambling, recreating. I would like to recreate but I think I will need to take a break and then come back once I feel like I have more time to invest in the league. I like max earning and I don't really want to come back immediately to a new season as a welfare earner. Nothing wrong with being a welfare earner. But personally if I start another player, I'd like to continue to max earn to get the most out of my player that I can. One of things I'll be looking forward to when recreating are the drafts. It's probably one of my favorite parts about the league. I enjoy watching it live and seeing most of the community come together to participate in the stream. Also the lively LR chats are fun to see while it happens. Even though I haven't been as active lately the social aspect of the draft and LRs are a big draw for me to the league. One of the hardest aspects I'm going to find when recreating is figuring out what the heck to name my player! Every video game I ever play I spend way too much time trying to figure out a name that works. With the VHL seasons lasting quite a while I find myself taking the name a little more seriously since I'll be stuck with it for a bit. I'm also already considering what position my recreate will be. I've been inspired by the likes of Jesse Teno and Lachlan Summers during my brief time in the VHL. Both are amazing Goalies with some serious skills that have me interested in trying out a Goalie next time around! My current player recently made the switch from a defenseman to a forward, so I think mixing it up to a position I haven't tried out yet as well would be fun. Anyways that's all I've got for my current rambling. If you read through all this, kudos to you! Articles are not my strong suit so I commend you for getting through this tangled web of thoughts. 12. Juicy words are where it's at! Sound advice
  13. This was a very entertaining read and I think we should use the bean scale for everything now. Let's get it up and running for all VHL needs involving a scale! For the beans!
  14. Slater was in practice with her VHL team when she received the news that the VHLE was being disbanded. Currently a forward for the Vancouver Wolves in the VHL and previously a defenseman for the Oslo Storm in the VHLE, Slater played in the E for season 88. A season where the team won the Renaissance Cup. This would be Slater's only season and cup in the E but a memorable one for sure. After playing with the Houston Bulls in the VHLM, Slater was excited to play a season in the VHLE overseas where she was drafted to Oslo Storm in Norway. Slater had looked forward to playing for a team that had great leadership and a solid roster of players. It didn't hurt as well that the team was in Norway, a place the avid traveler had always wanted to visit and then had the opportunity to live and work in. During her season in the E she was able to continue to hone in on her defenseman skills which would help propel her into the VHL. When asked if she had any thoughts on the VHLE being disbanded, Slater had the following comments: “It is sad to see the league be disbanded. There are a lot of great players in the league and luckily they will be shifted back to VHLM teams or forward into the VHL. The fan base for the VHLE pool was fairly small and decreasing with time so it doesn't really surprise me that this happened. I had some great memories, including a cup win and experiences from my time in the E. I'm glad I got to be part of it. Be part of its history. It sounded like a change was needed and this was the best action.” While the VHLE no longer exists we can all still enjoy the game we love through the VHLM and the VHL. Word Count: 320
