  1. Ottawa Selects YaBoi Oven First Overall OTTAWA - From the time YaBoi Oven joined the VHLM as a waiver player at the Season 88 Trade Deadline, he was soaring up the draft board. Initially, Oven looked like a second round selection, but it quickly became apparent he would be a first rounder. From there, it became a question of how high he would be selected, especially once players began declaring for the VHLE Entry Draft. On Friday night, the matter was put to rest when the Ottawa Lynx selected YaBoi Oven with the first overall pick of the Season 89 VHLM Dispersal Draft, making him the first Hungarian to be selected with the top selection in a VHLM draft. "To say I'm elated is an understatement," exclaimed Oven after being selected by Ottawa. "This isn't just a big deal for me, this is a big deal for the future of hockey in Hungary as well. This is proof to aspiring hockey players back home in Hungary that you can do this, that you can be something in the world of professional ice hockey. This has the potential to mean so much more than it does right now in the moment, and it's so surreal trying to take it all in." After finishing dead last in the VHLM with a 20-46-6 record in Season 88, Ottawa now looks to make a run in the opposite direction in Season 89. Along with selecting defenseman YaBoi Oven first overall, the Lynx added another monstrous, hard-hitting defenseman in Tommy Sleeves with the tenth overall selection. With Celise Pereira returning in Season 89, the Lynx now have three quality blue liners on their roster heading into Season 89. Ottawa then selected Bruise Banner 11th overall, adding a powerful, but unproven forward to the mix. The Lynx addressed the elephant in the room in their vacant goaltending position with Andrew Cobberson with the 31st overall pick, and the fate of Ottawa's season may very well rest on him. His work ethic so far looks good, but he is untested on the ice. The Lynx rounded out their roster with three more forwards, Med, Shinoa Hiiragi, and Jakub Izacky. Preliminary lines have not been released as of yet, but regardless of who Oven is paired with, big things will be expected of the top selection in the draft for Ottawa. Along with being the top defenseman on the roster, Oven will also now be expected to contribute more offensively as well. He played well as a complimentary piece with the Mississauga Hounds, in particular with allowing Reginald the Dodo to play up more and contribute more offensively. But this season in Ottawa, YaBoi Oven himself will be looked at himself to be the guy, especially if he wants to make himself worthy of the first overall status. "To me, last season was all about getting experience and getting a feel for the game," commented Oven. "Now that I've gotten a taste of VHLM, WJHC, and Victory ProAm hockey, I feel like I've settled in nicely now. I was really concerned with not being a liability last season, but now that I know I can handle myself out there, now I want to be able to be a difference-maker for the Lynx. It's time to show how good I can really be this season." Jethro Novacek is a writer for the MSFL Times, the premium purveyor of simulation sports news. 3. Not really, but I do suppose it is the chaos ending that this game deserves.

  5. Blake Shuts the Door On Canada OTTAWA - Fans were treated to a tremendous goaltending duel betwen Jeffrey Blake and Ross Glagau in Canada's game against Team Europe, with a total of three goals combined scored during the game. However, Canada's defense simply could not slow down the relentless pressure of Team Europe, who controlled the play for much of the game. The insurmountable pressure proved to be too much for Glasgau, with Nils Andersson blasting a feed from Tyler Swift past him at the 10:43 mark of the second period, providing Europe with their second straight win against the Canadians. The second star of the game, Jasper Davis, opened the scoring for Team Europe early in the first period, although the Canadians tied the game on the power play at the 8:30 mark of the second period on ShaunYoungca's first goal of the tournament. However, first star Jeffrey Blake shut the door the rest of the way, as Team Europe protected their lead by peppering third star Ross Glagau with shot after shot, keeping Canada's offense out of rhythm and unable to mount a comeback bid in the third period, mustering just six shots on net during the final twenty minutes of the game.
  6. USA Moves To 8-0 After 4-1 Win Over World WASHINGTON D.C. - Thor Odinson scored a pair of goals in the second period and Johnny Elgar stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced as the United States of America improved to a staggering 8-0 at the World Junior Hockey Championship with a 4-1 victory over Team World. Keita Kourou put World on the board first at the 12:10 mark of the first period, with Ronald Johnson MacWallace III and Reginald the Dodo assisting on the goal. However, things quickly went south for Team World when they committed two penalties within two minutes of the goal, with Team USA converting both power play opportunities on man advantage goals by Reese McFleury and Mark Calaway, giving USA a lead they would not relinquish. Odinson's pair of insurance goals in the second period earned him the first star of the game, while Elgar's dominance in net for the Americans got him second star honors. Defenseman Reese McFleury, whose power play goal in the first period tied the game, also had an assist in the second period, giving him the third star of the game. Olivier Gauthier was admirable in net for Team World with 40 saves, but the Americans' control of the puck and high advantage in offensive chances doomed any chances he may have had to steal the game for World.

  8. Nah, they hang just as well as you will tonight.
  9. Adrest's info and last night's actions confirm there are two members of the Coven: Eagles, a Poisoner, and someone else is a Necromancer.
  10. The Jugg attack came from a Necromancer using Spartan's body - it's the same Juggernaut, not a different one.

  12. Oven Relishing WJC Opportunity BEIJING, CHINA - When YaBoi Oven did not get the call for Team Europe, as he fully anticipated, he figured that was that, and he would be back in Season 89 for the World Junior Championship. However, with Team Asia short on eligible players, Kris Rice instead tapped the Hungarian to fill in on the roster and gave him that extra chance at facing top competition after all. It has been tough sledding for Team Asia, who has gone 0-6-1 in their first seven games, but that hasn't deterred the young blue liner in the slightest. "Getting to play against competition like this will prove to be very important," said Oven following a 3-1 defeat to the 7-0 Team USA. "I gotta admit I'm not used to losing like this all the time, but winning isn't just handed to you, you've got to work for it. We aren't playing against pushovers here, every single player taking the ice is virtually a future professional player. If you can't cut it here now, what chance will you have later on?" Despite sporting a -5 rating, Oven has shown to be a dogged defender even against more experienced players. In seven games, he has blocked 19 shots, recorded 12 hits, and is averaging over 26 minutes played per game. He has also added two goals, one on the power play, and two assists to give Oven four points in the tournament thus far. However, he is tied for the tournament lead in a less-desired stat, with Oven and teammate Big B both having served twenty penalty minutes each, double that of the next closest players. "That has definitely been an issue," admitted Oven. "Seems like I can't get away with as much at this tournament, but this is a lesson I would rather have right here, right now, than in the VHL. That's the type of opportunity that has been given to me by Mr. Rice for adding me to Team Asia, and I'm going to get everything out of this experience that I can." 16. It's worth noting that the invest results for Sheriff (Eagle's claim) includes the Poisoner.
  17. I investigated @woog last night, I'd like to hear a claim before I reveal my results. Additionally, I have been poisoned. Could use your help, Doc!
  18. 1. Draft season is always a lot of fun! Just watching teams wheel and deal in the days leading up to it, trying to predict who's going where, and seeing if you were right makes for good fun. YaBoi Oven is also in the VHLM Draft this season, so that's exciting for me as well. 2. The big thing is making sure they would be happy to play on your team, along with ensuring that they are active and fit with both your locker room and future plans. 3. Honestly, they really aren't a big part of a player's legacy, outside of getting a gold medal to complete Triple Gold. That being said, they're a great tool for GMs to evaluate and get to know prospects, so they definitely have their place in the VHL. 4. Daniel Janser has been absolutely iconic, the face of this generation of the Calgary Wranglers. He's a slam dunk first ballot VHL Hall of Famer, and the epitome of what it means to be a Calgary Wrangler during his tenure. His name will be spoken alongside of Calgary greats like Slobodzian, Boulet, and Labatte. 5. Camping is a major component of reenacting, and I really enjoy it. The most important component at the end of the day is having a dry place to lay your head at the end of the day, you can make due without luxuries if you have that! 6. The most important thing an AGM can bring is a presence, to be there and to help make the locker room fun. If you have that, every other component of bring an AGM can be taught and learned.

  20. I would appreciate protection tonight, as I don't have a good feeling about surviving tonight with my claim. I have a target in mind to investigate, but I'll keep it to myself to reduce the likelihood of said person being attacked again.
