  1. Such an underrated movie
  2. Wade Landry: A Biography The Landry family lineage is a familiar one to fans of the history of the Victory Hockey League, particularly fans of the league’s purple teams. The story began with Thomas Landry way back in Season 32. Although he was drafted by the New York Americans, Landry became a household name as the passionate captain of the HC Davos Dynamo, leading them to four straight European Conference championships, with two Continental Cup championships as well. The two-time Grimm Jonsson Trophy winner as the VHL’s top leader eventually had his #24 retired by Davos, the ultimate reward for the team-first player that Landry was. In Season 71, his son, Thomas Landry II, was drafted fifth overall by the Prague Phantoms, continuing the legacy. Just like his father, Landry II was a team-first player, eventually becoming the Phantoms’ captain, and he would spend his entire career in Prague, playing all 576 of his career games there. He retired as Prague’s franchise leader in goals and points, and his #48 was also retired. Now, as the 100th season of the VHL approaches, the third member of the Landry family lineage has arrived: Wade Landry. Born to Ashley and Thomas Landry II, Wade very quickly took to hockey, especially with both his father and grandfather still very much involved in the front offices of VHL teams. Being around the game growing up meant that Wade was given every opportunity imaginable to become a hockey player himself. He was skating at a young age, often getting the chance to skate during team practices for the Stockholm Vikings of the now defunct Victory Hockey League Europe, which Thomas Landry II managed. As he grew older, he began to play organized youth hockey, and it was quickly apparent that he possessed far more knowledge of the game than his peers. Wade was far and away the best skater in his age group, often better than many older players were as well. It was hardly a surprise: hockey was in his blood, after all. Even at a young age, it was a matter of when, not if, he would be a professional hockey player. As Wade grew older, it became apparent that he was far from finished with growing. He continued to be one of the bigger kids in his age group, and Wade quickly learned to use that size to his advantage. He was problematic in his opponents’ crease, as defenders had difficulty preventing him from screening their goaltender, while Landry could keep them away from his goaltender with ease. His strength also made him very successful on faceoffs, and his positioning in each zone of the ice made him a natural center. Wade was also very unselfish when it came to offense: he was just as happy to set up a goal as he was to score it himself. As long as the goal was scored, he didn’t care who did it or how it happened, just so long as it did. Landry also carried the family trait of being a natural leader, and wore the C for many of the teams he played on. Coaches often doubted whether or not Wade was as young as the age groups he was playing for due to his size and hockey IQ that simply seemed beyond his years to anyone that did not know his lineage. Following his high school graduation, Wade Landry surprised scouts by foregoing the junior level, choosing instead to accept a Division 1 scholarship to play at Penn State. A native of Pennsylvania, Wade had always dreamed of playing for his beloved Nittany Lions, which his grandfather, Thomas, was also an alum of. Even though junior hockey is often considered to be a better gateway into professional hockey, Landry simply couldn’t say no to being able to live out his childhood dream. However, he wasn’t going to Penn State to simply play hockey, as Wade declared as a kinesiology major. He believed that he could use the knowledge from the program to better the physical conditioning of himself and his teammates, along with setting up a career in sports medicine for himself after his playing days. With Penn State having one of the premiere kinesiology programs in the nation, along with a D1 scholarship offer, it truly was the perfect fit for Landry. Now, after four successful years on the ice and in the classroom, Wade Landry is graduating from Penn State. After working his way up the depth chart, eventually becoming the Nittany Lions’ top line center and team captain, he departs Happy Valley with his degree in hand and now enters the next stage of his hockey career: the VHLM. With the season nearing the conclusion, Wade ultimately had the choice of choosing to either take an option with the most playing time or picking a team that would be going to the playoffs, but couldn't offer as much playing time. After mulling his options between the Philadelphia Reapers, the Saskatoon Wild, the Miami Marauders, and the Halifax 21st, it turned out that it was Halifax that offered Landry the best opportunity to play on a team with playoff aspirations with decent playing time, just as they had done for his father nearly 30 years before. An open spot on the deep 21st's roster on the third line gives Landry the perfect opportunity to ease into the next stage of his playing career while getting the opportunity to compete in the VHLM playoffs. Wade Landry is finally here in the VHLM, but now it will be up to him to prove that he belongs and can live up to the lofty expectations of the family name.
  3. THANK YOU HUN
  4. 1. It's a great position to be in, this is a pretty deep roster with forwards, defensemen, and goalies. All it will take is to get hot at the right time and find out the lines with the best chemistry to get the job done, and this is certainly a roster capable of winning the Founder's Cup. 2. Well, 6/7 ain't bad! We'll just start up a new streak today! 3. Shot Blocker isn't just living up to his name with 60 blocks, but he has double the amount of hits as the next closest Halifax player. He's the top physical presence on the team, and is contributing offensively as well. He's the kind of guy getting the dirty work done so the stars can shine, and he's doing a great job of it. 4. This is very likely going to be considered heresy, but poutine. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes or gravy, and those are huge elements of what makes poutine what it is. It's just not for me. 5. It's well-deserved! He has lost parts of multiple seasons due to lockouts, yet still broke the record in the exact same amount of games as Gretzky played. I personally still believe that Mike Bossy is the best pure goal scorer of all-time, but Ovi's greatness is indisputable and breaking what many considered to be an untouchable record just shows how amazing of a player he has been for the duration of his career. 6. Knowing me, it'd have to be about something absolutely absurd. I think a musical about a struggling basketball team that's trying their best to sing and stay upbeat and positive while they're getting absolutely demolished, the coach is cheerfully singing while having a nervous breakdown over his team's lack of fundamentals... I'd pay to see that.

  9. Before I answer, congratulations on your engagement!! Try not to lose yourself in wedding planning, and just remember that the day itself is what matters more than any expensive, lavish things. Becoming one with your life partner and having everyone important to you there for a memorable celebration together is what you will take away from it all. Don't lose sight of that! 1. I always alternate between positions, but I've always enjoyed creating power forwards the most. A player that doesn't need to put up points to make an impact is always a fun player, but the scoring definitely helps! 2. Honestly, game reviews are a quick and easy way to get those last TPE, but I definitely don't think having more of a variety hurts. Content is content, which is always a win. 3. I would love to see the VHL one day be able to build their own sim engine that is created around the way our league works, and break free from the goofy inconsistencies and flaws of STHS. 1. What's an aspect of ice hockey that you feel like hasn't translated or carried over to the VHL? 2. What's something you enjoyed as a child that simply hasn't aged well with you? 3. What's the best purchase you've ever made?

  13. When I presented, I would make a placeholder post which all the winners would then be edited into following the conclusion of the presentation. Or, to avoid spoilers, it could be placed at the end of the presentation as a recap.
  14. The formatting is super sharp, really well done! Good luck to all the nominees!
  15. I'll repent by buying a Hustler magazine at 7-11 and reading all the articles.
  16. Must be all those drugs!
  17. 1. Getting acclimated in Calgary with my new teammates! One last shot at a Cup, so I need to make sure I'm up to speed in time for the regular season. 2. I wouldn't really say I prefer a specific color on a jersey, it's all about having the right accentuating colors to make the whole thing work. Blue is my favorite color, but I wouldn't prefer it over a jersey where the colors just work together just because the other one is blue. 3. Helsinki is going all-in this season, and with their recent history, them winning would definitely be a dark horse candidate, but I feel like Davos is about to majorly break out and go on a run this season. 1. Which VHL/VHLM team have you had the most fun on and why? 2. Which VHL member has made the biggest impact on you? 3. The Four Nations Tournament was recently a huge success for the NHL, do you think there is anything the VHL can learn from it?

  19. YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
  20. Still soaring! You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF JANUARY 6th TO JANUARY 12th 1. The North American Conference has become a house of horrors, with all five teams in playoff position recording at least 15 wins in the first 24 games of the season, with New York on the outside looking in with 13 wins. In what could be one of the strongest conferences in league history, what will it take to survive? 2. On the other hand, the European Conference is split between contenders and rebuilders, with one of the rebuilders making the playoffs by default. That is currently the London United, with a -26 goal differential. Could this potentially be the catalyst to have a deserving team that misses the playoffs in another conference replace one in a different conference? 3. In just over a season's time, the first members of the Season 100 Draft Class will be entering the league. How crazy is it that the VHL has been around for so long that we are entering the triple digits in seasons? 4. What is the best mascot, in your opinion, in any sport? 5. The NHL has announced that it will be holding not one, but two outdoor games in FLORIDA next season. On a scale of 0 to 10, how well will the ice manage to hold up for those games? 6. What's the best compliment you've ever received? 7. With the NFL Playoffs about to begin, Super Bowl Sunday is just weeks away. What's your favorite aspect of the NFL's biggest day? 8. What do you find more terrifying: deep sea exploration or space exploration?
  21. The Phoenix rise! You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF DECEMBER 30th TO JANUARY 5th 1. In the first twelve games of the new VHL season, your Chicago Phoenix are 9-1-2, with their 20 points first in the entire league. What's got us off to such a strong start? 2. In recent times, Chicago has had hot starts to the season, only to simmer down and taper off as the season continues. What can the Phoenix do differently this season to stay hot? 3. @badcolethetitan is going to have a fun off-season ahead of him: none of the players on the current pro roster are contracted beyond this season. What's ahead for Chicago in Season 98? 4. What's a band that gets a lot of love and acclaim that you don't think is warranted? 5. Who's the funniest person you've ever interacted with? 6. Did you get anything cool for Christmas this year? 7. What's your favorite gift you've ever given? 8. Have you been watching the NCAA playoffs? Who's going to win the national championship?
