It was a close run for the Quebec City Meute in S42 - they were able to reach the finals for the Continental Cup. It was bitter-sweet as many could call it a success as they achieved so many individual awards and were even able to knock off the consensus favorite, New York Americans. Their main knock was that they were too reliant on their top two forwards Bruno Wolf and Aksel Thomassen. A lack of defense to help out Brock Waldron seemed to be exposed as the Cologne Express handled them rather easily in their final series of the season.
In classic Clinton Chevy fashion, the Quebec City Meute GM did not hesitate to adress this issue right away. Chevy traded a slew of picks in addition to Rami Jacobsen in an effort to create cap space and change the dynamic of the team. He was able to add two young studs, Nik Kurri through free agency, and Patrick Demko through trade. In the Demko trade, he was also able to pick up a high-end talent from the Helsinki Titans in Jake Wylde.
Wylde is coming off five seasons with the Titans where he was less than 100 hits away from taking the franchise lead in hits. While he has a hard time staying out of the penalty box, he has been able to bring a reputation of being a team-first player, and a wild force on the ice who lays big hits.
It's safe to say that for both Wylde and the Meute this is a year of redemption, as he tries to find his first Labatte trophy and the Meute try and earn their second Continental Cup in franchise history.
