  1. Samsayz is an 18 year old defenseman form the cold tundra in Antarctica. He can be described as the huge monster of the South. He is currently 6ft 8in and weighs an incredible 250 pounds. Those living in his hometown Antarctic field camps nicknamed him the "Southern Elephant Seal" growing up. He has always been tall since a young age as he was 6ft since the age of 12. He was originally skinny but since 12, he has worked to bulk himself up so that his body could be more thick and strong rather than a fragile giant. He has matured and grown wonderfully into a hockey prospect. As his name states, the resident smell expert Samx from the VHL had visited the South Pole on her yearly expeditions. This particular year 17 years ago she noticed a small baby left in his crib. At that time she could smell a foul odor coming from the baby and all she could comment was that that baby smelled. Her fellow scientists would comment to the others that the baby was smelly and the first words of the child ended up being "I-Smell". So the family following tradition named the baby Samsayz I-Smell. Sam knew early on that the baby would be different and offered to host the kid when he grew up to 16 and teach him the sport of ice hockey. The parents would not forget and had waited until the kid would grow bigger in size before sending him to North America to follow his childhood dreams. The only thing is he knew nothing about the sport. He didn't know how to play, the history or anything related to the rules. The first impression as a baby was so strong he just felt destined. So during his 6 month initial stay adjusting to the weather and city life, Sam sent him down to Houston to her good friend AJ to be taken care of. AJ was the GM of the minor league Houston Bulls and took the young kid under his wing. He would have him attend the practice facilities and study game tape. He would spend the next 2 years living and breathing in the team facilities until he finally hit the age of 18 to play ice hockey. He is still a very raw talent and even with this diehard training is a novice to the sport. However due to his physical traits AJ feels I-Smell has the potential to not only play in the VHL but be the best bench warmer there could ever be. AJ was smart and knew this would be a long term project so he has always trained I-Smell to be humble and to consider him a bust so he would not disappoint any other teams, teammates and himself. So Samsayz takes a positive perspective in life and to the game so he cherries every moment and can be seen early in and out of the practice facilities. He just is a bit slow so the GMs and coaches hope the hard work will eventually catch up at some point. Regardless, he hopes to be figuratively the biggest bust and benchwarmer in the league and hopes to disappoint one unlucky GM sucker that drafts him. And that person can just blame poor AJ or Samx on the colossal failure of a pick as he is more hype than substance.
  2. This is the prospect scouting report for the new player - Samsayz I-Smell. Basic Bio He is an 18 year old defenseman form Antarctica. He can be described as a huge size. He is 6ft 8in which is the same height as the tallest current NHL player Tyler Myers. The typical heavyweight in the ice rink is typically 240ish pounds, but this prospect weighs an incredible 250 pounds. Those living in his hometown Antarctic field camps nicknamed him the "Southern Elephant Seal" growing up. So the biggest thing you will notice from this prospect is his size which makes him a great body to deliver and absorb hits. Strengths As a young prospect, his biggest attribute is his defense and skating. His coach and personal trainers have given him advise to focus on those two aspects along with his secondary skills of puck handling and strength. Those four skills will define the course of his minor league career as he keeps looking to focus on them. His big size gives him the advantage of absorbing strong shots and he is not afraid to take a hit and enjoys giving hits to others. The other Weaknesses On the other end, he will struggle on a lot of the offensive skills like passing and scoring so don't expect to see this prospect to contribute on that side of his game. Growing up in Antarctica meant having to reply on individual skills so he is not refined in either scoring nor passing. He is still new to the game so he will only grow as he better understands the nuances of the game. It also means he isn't a natural leader and may have the occasional awkward group conversations. What he will need to do going forward is working on the basics as he oozes potential physical features and strong work ethic. He projects to be a long term project and any scout wanting to check him out must not be too dismayed by the lack of early fundamentals in the game like the other prospects that have played hockey since youth. I-Smell is a natural skater so he will need to have room to grow and need GMs that are open to mentoring and not instructing. Leadership is not something that comes natural to I-Smell so he is really trying to learn in the minors. Making friends and opening up to his teammates is what he hopes he can do more comfortably as time goes. Teamwork is an essential aspect of the sport so he will need to keep working on these aspects of his development. All in all, I-Smell projects to go to the bottom of the draft and be a career bench warmer. Draft at your own risk as he has bust written all over him. - Barry Melrose, NHL Analyst
  3. I just created a player and just joined a team and wanted to do a basic first impression of the team and players knowing nothing about the team and league yet. So this is all pure first impressions. Let's start with the team. The team is already tied for first place in the conference and is battling Saskatoon Wild for the top position. If you look at the two team, the records are the same but the Wild have a bigger goal difference and it is mostly due to the difference in defense and goals allowed. 36 vs 47 is still a manageable defense and as a new defenseman joining the team, I hope to help shore up the difference as a solid backup. The Wild lost the last game and the Bulls riding a bullrush is on a 3 game win streak. If you take a look at the rosters, the Wild have 3 forwards and 3 defensemen already maxed with 1 forward and 1 defensemen on its way to maxing soon. The only weakness I can see from this group is at the goalie position. On the flip side let's take a look at the Bulls. The Bulls have 3 defensemen and 1 goal maxed so a very strong defense and an improving offense. As the forwards continue to improve and work its way up, the team has a lot more leeway to grow vs the Wild. I-Smell will be a nice backup to the group and fill in valuable minutes for a team that could use someone to spell the starters during breaks. The Bulls have 8 forwards, 5 defensemen and 1 goalie compared to the Wild which has 7 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goalies. So the rosters are similar in build. Both teams also have 8 teams from S93 while the Bulls have 1 (guess who?!?) S95 on their team. So from an aging roster prospect the team two teams are really very similar. The biggest difference we will see though is in the GMs. Their leadership, strategy and roster building will impact how the teams perform with similar rosters. The Bulls being led by AJ and Wild being led by Dadam30. The funny thing is if you look at the past 4 seasons the teams are really pretty even as each has done better twice and they seem to be both going in cycles on rebuild vs contending. So even the GM battle is dead even. Then now what will determine who does better and what does the odds show? Will it be the Wild that started off hot and has a more maxed team strong in the wings? Or will it be the Bulls who are on a hot streak riding the wave of its defensemen and goalie and their youth at the forward spots? Well, trying not to be biased and biased at the same time, I have to give the edge to the Bulls. One is the ability for the team to keep getting better to the playoffs and the recent win streak as it rides its momentum to the playoffs I feel is a key factor. And then having a new youth S95 player to pump up the energy may be the X-factor the team is looking to get over the hump. Make no mistake, both teams will be looking to compete and will not concede as the race will go into the final weeks.
  4. I will request all scouts that want to scout me to call be by my full name It sounds a lot funnier that way
  5. Review Task: Being new to the league and not knowing anything, I love this idea! I love how the minors in baseball or other sports have regional minor leagues and there was an attempt by the NFL to do a Europe league. I feel this would be a great similar notion and love how you used the various states. The only change would be to replace Syndey with Darwin and have them be the Crocodiles as they are known for the most salt water crocodiles there and have Syndey be more a place for the final events! And then you can have Melbourne be the Platypus!

What is your favorite NHL team? > None but if I had to choose Las Vegas is a cool looking team. 6. Is this your first time in a sim league? > I'm a part of the PBE and ISFL
  7. A new big monster is entering the ice rinks this season. His name is none other than Samsayz I-Smell. And yes you guessed it, he is a big tall fella ready to cause havoc and madness on... the bench! The rookie defensive benchman can't skate nor use a hockey stick so he is hoping to ride the coattails of the top minors team in Houston to victory. Determined to be the best benchwarmer there can be, I-Smell goes about pumping the crowd and throwing funky items on to the rink pretending it was fans when the referee does not look. He is intent on being a decoy and hitting players on their way over so that the rest of the team can attack. The team is on a hot 3 game winning streak and is 2nd in their conference with many players returning so the future is already looking bright. I-Smell is most likely to be the 4th defenseman and one that is willing to go into the game as long as the GM does not regret. The Bulls have had a great defensive season only allowing 130 goals which is the 3rd best in the whole league so all I-Smell need to do is knock the winds out of the players when he comes in to give the team new breath.

  9. Welcome to the League everyone!
  10. I also vote creating at TDL to give your next player the best opportunity and career potentially possible
  11. Any reason ISFL (football) isn’t included? I know they work with the SHL and think it would be another good affiliate to partner if an option
  12. Have great users join other affiliate leagues. I find longer term the users themselves sell the league
  13. I’m glad there are at least 3 “others” to join me
