Becoming a GM in the VHLM and for San Diego has been surreal. It was something that has been a goal of mine every since entering the league. I would not be in this position if I had not lost in the playoffs of another hockey GM game, which shows you that losing can actually lead to better things sometimes. That is when I had some extra time on my hands and @Laine suggested I join the VHL.

Getting the Marlins job in particular was ironic after playing my time in the M in Yukon, during the times of the heated rivalry between the two teams. Although @Juice will probably never forgive me for it, I am glad to be a part of the Marlins organization. I never thought I would say this myself. That being said I will always love Yukon and appreciate my time there, what a ride it was.

I learned from my tenure in Ottawa as AGM that I enjoy the atmosphere of the VHLM. I like to see new players getting involved and having a good time in the league. Over the last couple seasons I have been able to see players become great and succeed. This has been awesome, and I look forward to seeing more of that each season. I remember first being named AGM by @dlamb back in April. I was so happy and excited to start. Big thank you to him; I would certainly not be where I am now. In addition, @16z was very helpful this past season and cool to work with in building the Lynx for the future.

Two more thank yous to @diamond_ace  and @McWolf  for believing in me enough to hire me as GM. It is truly a dream come true. I’m happy with how things are coming along and I cannot wait for what more is to come.

As for the Marlins:

We made sure to do a good amount of scouting for the draft. This draft was very deep as a result of the large recruiting drive this past offseason. We were fortunate to pick up what we believe are steals in the later rounds.

Obviously a goal we have is to compete as soon as possible, hopefully next season. However the main goal we focus on each day, no matter where we are in the standings, is helping all our players grow and introduce them to the greatness of the VHL.
