Daniel Janser 2,183
Swiss Central Gazzette Since last we reported from our intrepid hockey exports, the training camps have opened and Marcel went back to Vasteras to re-unite with his team mates to get ice-ready for next season. During the inter-season period, Daniel won the ProAM tournament with the Dekes of Hazzard. During the round Robin as well as the medal games, the young Rotkreuz native was a force on the ice, dominating the hash-marks and bring grit to the Dekes' game, while being one of the highest scoring centers in the tournament. He stayed out of the sinbin for the most part and was only out hit by Dabnad Shaw. We also learned from our well informed sources, that the older Janser brother received a hefty bonus for signing his five year, NTC extension with the Wranglers. The unnamed informant colports an amount of two million US Dollars. A further indication how much Daniel is appreciated in Calgary is, that he will wear the coveted 'A' on his chest in his sophomore season. Kotkakoivu will lead the charge in the leadership group and Johnson is complimenting the trio as an alternate captain in his final season. Draft happened as well and the Wranglers were able to secure some important pieces for the future. AirRig GoodBrandSun, a promising two-way defender from Houston, was picked at 5th overall and will be thrown into the deep end of the pool in Calgary's defensive department. With his 6' 5'', 220lbs frame, AG will be an intimidating sight in the Wranglers own zone. The other players picked up in this draft will need a season or two development time in the minors before they are ready to face the battlehardened veterans in the VHL. Leandro Gonçalves, the Portuguese Wonderkind, was locked by the Wranglers at 9th overall. The 6' 5'', 220lbs play-making center will beef up a season in Vasteras, where he will join Marcel Janser. The defensive minded defender is also projected to get a call from Kris Ricer in S84, together with 'Ferragus' Gonçalves. But the Wranglers were not done building for the future, with their third 1st round pick, at 13th overall, they snatched the rights of Landon Wolanin, a rather small (5' 9'') but stocky (169lbs) grinder for the left wing. His defensive mind set and puckhandling skill will be an asset for the Wranglers in the seasons to come. At 26th overall, the Alberta Franchise elected Babushka, an athletic defender a 6' and 215lbs from the freezing plains of Siberia (which should make him immediately feel at home in the plains province he is moving to). This Kalashnikov of a defenceman can play on both ends of the ice, but still needs some development, so S85 is more realistic than S84 for his VHL debut, but maybe this ambitious young player will surprise everyone with a leap in his performance, as he has proven in San Diego already, that they are capable of scoring above a point per game. Sam Azjha was chosen at 31st overall. This Canadian raised center does not stand out physically at 5' 8'' tall, but has already a considerable amount of muscle on their frame (195lbs). With this low center of gravity it will be difficult to knock them of the puck. They re-signed with Halifax where they already spent the last full season. Last but not least, the Wranglers elected at 50th overall Ty Heisler, a defender who also re-signed with his last season's franchise, the Mississauga Hounds. The 5' 10'', 160lbs Canadian allround defender needs another season or two in the minors to reach the level it takes to compete in the big show. The Wranglers could also secure the services of James GloveDropper in the FA market and he will compliment the otherwise center-heavy front row on the right wing. He is coming fresh from Stockholm where he scored 166 points in 144 games. We will revert with updates on the brothers as soon as same are available. https://vhlforum.com/topic/116462-a-tale-of-two-brothers-quick-wrap-up/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/117076-a-tale-of-two-brothers-playoffs-in-sight/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/117330-a-tale-of-two-brothers-mixed-results/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/117475-a-tale-of-two-brothers-jekyll-and-hyde/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/117857-a-tale-of-two-brothers-off-season-once-more/ VIctory ProAM - Individual Leaders Pro (sths.ca) https://vhlforum.com/topic/118435-a-tale-of-two-brothers-almost-all-quiet-in-the-west/ Spoiler @Dabnad, @DollarAndADream , @Phil, @Rhynex Entertainment, @leandrofg, @Morcar80, @jacobcarson877, @BrutalBoost, @Azjha_59, @Ty Heisler, @Jamomayo @Ricer13 Edited April 13, 2022 by Daniel Janser jacobcarson877, DollarAndADream, Ricer13 and 2 others 2 3 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/118968-a-tale-of-two-brothers-the-long-offseason/ Share on other sites
