Davos is the best franchise in the VHL

Historically speaking, the franchise that began as the Amstel Tijgers is better than all other in the VHL. While most would say this reputation belonged to Calgary throughout the first half of the league's existence, Davos has definitely taken over in recent years and it is hard to make a case against the team.

Over the past 21 seasons, Davos has made the playoffs 17 times. They have appeared in 11 finals, winning six of them (with the potential for a seventh). This brings their total number of championships to at least nine in 39 seasons, while Calgary sits in second place at seven.

Early on in the VHL, the Wranglers were the team to beat. Making the finals in six of the first eight  seasons, Calgary won their third cup in Season 8. However, the Calgary of those days was not like today's Davos, and they couldn't compete forever. They went nine seasons without winning a cup, while the Dynamo tied them at three with victories in S7, S11, and S13.

Calgary did win cups four, five, and six between Season 18 and Season 23, but Davos remained right on their tail throughout, winning in Season 20 and their own back-to-back in Season 24 and 25.

With their victory over the Riga Reign, Davos became just the second team to reach the finals in four consecutive seasons. The other are the New York Americans from S25-S29. Unlike that New York squad, Davos has been able to win in the finals; while the Americans won no cups during those four seasons, the  Dynamo are searching for the third during their run. If Davos can accomplish this, they would be the first team to win three championships within a four-year span.
