Time for the inaugural Oslo Storm awards presentation! While the team did not make the playoffs this season unfortunately, there were still some bright spots on the roster as well as in the organization overall. I hope all the players had a fun season all in all and I wish you all the best moving forward!

Season 83 Oslo Storm Awards Presentation

1st seasonal show

🌬️ Wind Storm Award (Top Prospect(s)): Wind storms always have the potential to develop into more, just like, in this season's case, these two Oslo prospects. One of them, a defender, had 91 points (30 goals, 61 assists), a +30 rating, 139 blocked shots, 7 game-winning goals, and 129 hits in the regular season. In addition, they put up totals of 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists), 15 shots blocked, and 10 hits in 6 postseason contests for the Miami Marauders. The other player, a goalie, won 40 games, had a .908 save percentage, a 2.23 GAA, and 5 shutouts in the regular season. Then they went on to win the Halifax 21st 7 games, while saving a fantastic 93.9% of shots, and allowing less than two goals a game on average (1.84 GAA).

The Wind Storm Award goes to both:

Spoiler

Nicholas Blue and Sam Tombstone! Congrats @lidz and @samthemancub! We're looking forward to having you both in red this season!

🌧️ 🏒 Shower of Pucks Award (Most Goals): This award goes to the top goal scorer on Oslo. First on the Storm and tied for fifth in the VHLE, this left winger potted an impressive 36 goals, scoring on average once every two games. This can be attributed to this user's hard work and steady earning throughout the season. The shower of pucks award goes to:

Spoiler

Pete Mitchell! @Crstats23 well done and congrats!

:sunglasses: Sharing the Sun Award (Most Assists): Playing for the Storm means one has to spread whatever sunlight is given. This player unselfishly dished 67 assists in 72 games, setting up their teammates left and right. The Sharing the Sun Award for Season 83 goes to:

Spoiler

Jake Thunder! @Thunder great job and congrats!

🚨 Striker Award (Top Point Producer): Oslo is a hotspot for strikes of lightning, and the Storm strive to be for striker players. This player counts as one for sure, recording 89 points this season. The Striker Award is presented to:

Spoiler

Jake Thunder! @Thunder congrats again!

🌠 Shooting Star Award (Top Shooting Percentage): This forward registered on 9.24% of their 249 shots, scoring 23 goals. They clearly have a very accurate shot, which allows them to capitalize on even the so-called "worst" scoring chances. The Shooting Star Award goes to the captain:

Spoiler

Cobalt Burns! @Ledge congrats and what a shot!

⛈️ Thunder Award (Most Hits; Best Physical Presence): The winner of the first Thunder Award is someone who plays on the edge, and it benefits them greatly. They used their style of play to net them 23 goals and 28 assists for 51 points. Importantly, they did not allow their physical play to directly translate into a huge amount of penalties, only going to the box for 87 minutes. With 221 hits, most on Oslo and tenth-most in the league, the winner is:

Spoiler

Cobalt Burns, two in a row! @Ledge congrats and keep it up!

☂️ Umbrella Award (Top Defensive Performance): The player that best served as an "umbrella" this season blocked a ton of shots, had a multitude of hits, and overall contributed in a large way to keeping the puck out of the Oslo net. This season's winner blocked 216 shots (most in the VHLE), had 197 hits and the best plus/minus rating on the team. Although the winner for Season 83 happens to be a defender, it will likely not always be the case, since it is open to any skater. The Umbrella Award goes to:

Spoiler

Jake Thunder! @Thunder sorry for all the pings...congrats on your outstanding defensive game!

🌩️ 🥊 Lighting Glove Award (Top Goalie): While we only had one human goaltender this season (this is most certainly not going to you, OSL G1), their play was consistently superb. This award is definitely deserved, especially playing behind only one defender. With 20 wins, the top VHLE save percentage (three-way tie) of .934, a 2.65 GAA and a shutout, the lightning glove award goes to:

This does not need a spoiler but why not for the fun:

Spoiler

Augustus Kennedy! @InstantRockstar way to go and congrats!

👁️ :osl: Eye of the Storm Award (MVP):  The Eye of the Storm Award goes to the player that best embodied what it means to play for the Oslo Storm. They were an integral part of the team this season, both on and off the ice, leading the team in assists (67) and points (89), as well as being a terrific locker room presence. Their 89 points was second league-wide, and their 67 assists were tied for first. They have a long and successful VHL career ahead of them, I'm sure of it. The Season 83 Eye of the Storm Award goes to:

Spoiler

Jake Thunder! @Thunder congrats! And somehow I just realized this, what an appropriate name!

⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars of the Season: ⭐ Jake Thunder (22 G, 67 A, 89 P) ⭐⭐ Augustus Kennedy (20 W, .934 SV%, 2.65 GAA, 1 SO) ⭐⭐⭐ Pete Mitchell (36 G, 42 A, 78 P)

💬 🥏 Best Talking Point: This is a fun one, it does not go to a person but rather something that was discussed in the locker room this season. @ctots plays it and shared a lot about it. We now have an emoji representing it and it was a good time learning more about the game. The Best Talking Point this season was:

Spoiler

Disc Golf!

🌟 Glowing Star Award (AGM): And last but certainly not least, the Glowing Star Award goes to none other than the team's AGM. They have been very reliable and excellent in the locker room, not to mention a great person both to talk to about trade discussions and scouting, and about anything in general.

Spoiler

@ctots thank you for your dedication to the Storm and congrats! Well earned.

Thank you all for tuning in and congrats to those taking home hardware! I'm excited to see what you will do in your careers. Those of you being drafted tonight, good luck and hopefully you go somewhere you want to! In terms of the Storm, let's have a great Season 84 and build on this past season. I'm looking forward to seeing prospects and players grow and improve. Until next season, so long!

Hell yeah! Disc golf = best golf! I’m kinda good at it in the recreational sense, but not good enough to be too competitive.
