One of The Greatest All-Time?

Over the past three seasons I've been lucky enough to share a team with one Odin Tordahl who is represented by player agent Boom. This guy has been lighting the league on fire for the past four seasons and for the first time he was able to capture the Campbell Trophy as the league's most valuable player, an award I think he deserved more than once during the past three seasons we've been together. Unfortunately, his career stats will not put him amongst the VHL's elite forward talents as he will likely finish around the 800 point mark after this season concludes. Tordahl has managed to become and remain though the single best forward in the VHL over each of the past four seasons which I think is an incredibly difficult thing to do as you're being depreciated.

When I was first talking to Chris Miller about going to New York, which started long before Tom Slaughter was drafted, he asked me about a number of moves he was looking to make. He mentioned he wanted to trade for Boom's player who was rumoured to want to come to play in New York. I'm fairly certain Chris gave up a first round selection in exchange for Tordahl. That selection ended up going to Helsinki and becoming a very good player in Don Draper in an otherwise putrid draft. That price was well worth it as Tordahl has been the lead dog in New York's rise to power in the North American conference since my arrival for the second time.

As most people know, Boom adds a lot to a team's locker room. He probably adds more to a locker room than any other member in the league currently. I've had the great pleasure of sharing teams with the majority of the members in this league over it's seven plus years and he goes up there as one of the best in my memory. He's a quiet leader who more leads by good example. He's very respected and never really says anything negative. He also expects a lot out of his player and last season when he wasn't preforming quite up to expectations I had to straighten him and Low out with a stern lecture.

Odin Tordahl is now entering his final season in New York and I for one will miss his presence on the team and in our locker room. If there was a way for him to stay longer I'm sure Boom would be all for it as would the rest of our team. We've drafted really well over the past few years and I think the team will be in good shape to replace the irreplaceable Boom. I anticipate another Campbell Trophy and Continental Cup for the veteran as he embarks on his final swan song. This season I'm hoping to play on Tordahl's line again as New York goes through a bit more of a youth movement. The rest of the VHL has improved a lot as teams like Cologne, Helsinki,Calgary and Quebec look to join the playoffs for the first time in seasons (aside from Calgary`s weak showing last season). The one thing they all don`t have though is the best forward in the league and especially this season as Slaughter, Xiao and Tordahl all continue to maintain their places on New York`s dominant offence. Here`s to you Odin, let`s go out on top!

Somewhat strayed off-topic in some parts of the MS, but it still flowed nicely and was a joy to read. 573 words, over the requirement. Tordahl seems to be a good player, he picked up quite a few awards the other night.

Easily the best of the generation and he became that when he overcame Kellinger in TPE. The caveat for me is the level of competition. Very few elite forwards since the "post-S18" era, especially ones consistently on top. But even in TPE.

Not to take away from Tordahl's accomplishments, but as you titled this one of greatest of all-time, that is my argument against.

When I was doing NY all-time stats I was blown away, and even more amazed when adding his trophies since joining the team..

* 1x Continental Cup Winner (League Champs)

* 1x Devon Marlow-Marta Trophy Winner (NA Champs)

* 2x Victory Cup Winner (Best RS Record)

* 1x Scotty Campbell Trophy Winner (MVP)

* 1x Brett Slobodzian Trophy Winner (MOP)

* 3x Mike Szatkowski Trophy Winner (Top Scorer)

* 2x Kevin Brooks Trophy Winner (Most Goals)

* 1x Alexander Beketov Trophy Winner (Most Assists)

* 1x Grimm Jonsson Trophy Winner (Top Leader)

So he has led the league in scoring every year he has played for New York..

I had to go "unlike" something in order to thank you here. Not being typical Boom, but I agree with Victor probably. I guess it depends on how long the greatest list is.

Thanks Sterling for the article, I appreciate the content and sentiment. And Chris, I added the achievements up the other day and was surprised myself. I still preferred Boomchenko as a player agent, but Odins a decent #2 :)
