NotAVHLM-GM 1,858
Time Flies The 35th season of the Victory Hockey League is finally underway. After a delay of a few weeks the league had all of their issues worked out and kicked off the new season. A new season also brings new chances for goaltender Remy LeBeau. The 34th season in the league was a disaster for his team since the Legion missed the playoffs in a stacked North American Conference. Award Time On a personal level the 34th season was quite the opposite. He was the prime reason for the Legion to be so competitive and his stellar play even gave him a nomination for being the league’s Most Valuable Player of the regular season. He did not win that trophy but his play was good enough to bring home his first personal award, the Aidan Shaw trophy for the league’s best goaltender. While he is still the only elite goaltender of his generation (Skylar Rift and Tuomas Tukio) without a cup ring, he is the first out of the trio to pick up the Aidan Shaw award; a special moment in LeBeau’s career. The first four seasons Four seasons have gone past before LeBeau finally received the recognition that he feels he deserves so much. His whole career he has been held back by the team in front of him as well, so it feels good that despite not having the best team in front of him, to be able to post the best numbers that year. The first two seasons of his career were on an empty Toronto team enabling him to train hard on all the incoming shots. While receiving this amount of shots it became clear that he was one of the goaltenders in history of the VHL with the most shots against; a perfect opportunity to train for the youngling. The third season in LeBeau’s career entered a whole new dimension. For the first time in his VHL career his team made the playoffs. They managed to push the Calgary Wranglers to six games but the star power they had was just too big for LeBeau to withstand. LeBeau really hoped they could improve in his fourth season and Odin Tordahl was traded for winger Smooth Jive to get them more offensive power. The season went different as expected as the Quebec City Meute had gotten Yuri Grigorenko and Skylar Rift in Free Agency and becoming an instant competitor in North America with these additions. Next to the Meute the Wranglers and Americans managed to reach the playoffs. Toronto came close to a spot but it just was not enough. The Future The halfway mark of LeBeau his career has passed and he is starting to bank training points in order to keep his abilities up to strength in the upcoming years. He has maxed out his most vital statistics and still hopes to be one of the highest first generation players in the VHL. The Toronto Legion should return to the playoffs again this year and once they are in, anything will be possible. The back-end of the team received an upgrade since both Ville Sixten and Dan Tremblay have made the jump to the majors. This is also the last season in the career of Smooth Jive. Wouldn’t it be the best present to give his friend a cup in his final year? Time flies when you are having fun and LeBeau is ready for the next four years of his career.
