ThePerfectNut 563
1. Vancouver Wolves - Henry Eagles - C A lot of people had him as rookie of the year in their predictions, but they can cross their hopes for a TPE already. The top rookie currently, Phoebe Bridgers has 29 points in 22 games while Henry Eagles only have 8 points in 22 games. Even Dogwood Maple who is 10th in the racing and his linemate has 15 points in 22 games, which is 7 more points then him. Notsomething you'll expect from the 1st overall pick so far. Well to be quite honest, I won't be too harsh on him. I don't know why people expect players who were freshly drafted to be in the race for rookie of the year. Why do they ignore the people that were in the VHLE for multiple seasons with a way higher TPA amount for their VHL rookie season? That's on them not doing their research. The real reason for his low rating is the fact that his team, the Vancouver Wolves, was supposed to be a top team in the entire league. Yet they have a losing record and are only 1 point away from missing the playoff! He's one of the least productive players on that team. Being the 1st overall pick on a stacked team like the Wolves, but are now not even making the playoff possibly? Let's hope things turn around from now. The story of his first season is looking quite horrible tho. 2. Prague Phantoms - John Jameson - B+ I still believe he was not the best pick for this team, but his talent is the real deal. In his first season in the VHLE, he has 38 points in 22 games with a +19! His helping his team to claim first place in the entire VHLE league. He's easily already the best player on his team despite being the youngest while having the most points in the entire league as a top goal scorer as well. If we compare him to Henry Eagles first season in the VHLE. He only had 25 points in 72 games while being a 0 in +/-. This shows a lot of promise for him and I already predict him being in the rookie of the year race in season 86! He is for sure the best forward in this class....so far. 3. Calgary Wranglers - Phil Strasmore - B- Despite only having 8 points in 20 games, which btw I predicted he would have a slow start offensively in his first 3 seasons with the Calgary Wranglers. Unlike Henry Eagles, he's helping his team win by doing the other small stuff by landing 51 hits and 31 shots blocked. The Calgary Wranglers are in third place and will most likely stay in the top 3 in the NA conference. I believe this pick will become the best pick in the season 5 draft for a team need and he might receive individual honors in his bright career for the Wranglers. Ricer truly knows how to produce talents for the league. 4. New York Americans - Daniel Weaver - C+ Daniel Weaver only has 11 points in 22 games, 3 more than Henry Eagles, but his defense has been quite horrible with a -10, but he recently changed his entire build so that stat will only go up from now on. He really had a slow start to the season, but he has been heating up ever since and I can see him easily cracking into the top 10 for the rookie race one week later. He's been the most productive second liner on the team and with how bad the Americans are doing. He might get an early shot with the top line for a couple of games eventually *cough @thadthrasher cough*. We won't know if it will be a bad thing or a good thing, but it will make or break his first season as a rookie. He's been the most productive offensively within the season 85 draft in the VHL, but he needs to take the next step for his team to crack into a playoff spot. 5. London United - Astro Singh - D+ Again with the D+ RIP. I have nothing against him but compared to the 4 people in front of him. There's a big gap we can see between him and them. He has 10 points in 22 games this season in the VHLE, but he's at least doing good defensively for being a +8. He's looking to become a scorer and he could break numbers in the upcoming VHLE season if he decides to stay down another season, but if he's called up to play in the VHLE. He will lose all those scoring opportunities he would have had since the start of his career. I see him being a good player for bad teams, but not a wanted player for winning teams. It's a weird spot to be in, but I'm still rooting for the dude! 6. Menace Moscow - Matt Murdock - A+++ He is hand down the best player that's coming outta this class. I'm already calling it, a future HOF goalie in the making. I don't like the user behind it since of course it's a commish, but his stats are unreal so far. In the VHLM with 14 games as an incoming free agent goalie mid-season. He already had a 0.919 sv% for the team and then he went for a 0.914 sv% in the playoff for them in 4 games. As a 90 TPE goalie, that's quite amazing. In the WJC. He took a step further with team USA and had a 0.937 and a 1.965 GAA for 8 games. Then a 0.931 in 2 games in the playoff, team USA was given the silver medals all thanks to him. Then in his first season in the VHLE as a rookie goalie again. He produced a 0.927 sv% with a 2.39 GAA in 51 games. Those are ELITE numbers, and he has done the same in the playoff for 12 games with a 0.927 sv% and 2.7 GAA. Leading his team to the finals yet again, but losing once again. Now he is in his second season with a different team and he's doing even BETTER. in 17 games he has a 0.940 sv% with a 2.3 GAA. If you thought his past stats were incredible, he's not done getting better. I still can't believe he went THAT LOW in the draft. I don't care if you already had a goalie, this dude is the REAL deal. Moscow already has a HOF goalie right now and they now have another HOF goalie incoming. Must be great for them right now. Gaikoku-hito 2,154
Review: Good overall article to read as it is always interesting to see how players drafted stack -up against each other after being drafted. That being said it really needs some color, maybe some bold to make the article stand-out a bit more overall. Also player position, team as most might not have a clue what league they are playing for, who drafted them or the position that they play. Treat us like we are dumb when writing an article. I would also suggest adding pictures for the article but most don`t bother so I wouldn`t either. Overall: 7/10 P.S. Vancouver struggles are not down to Eagle alone as we have three rookies on the roster making up 50% of our forwards line-up but as they grow so should the prospect of making the playoffs. We knew this would be a bit of a risk compared to other teams but compared to where we started the off season to where we are now. It is a huge improvement with these three players being a big part of our future success. With the limited ice time and skipping the VHLE. Eagles is holding his own. He didn’t skip VHLE tho and every second line in the league has the same amount of ice time Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/127458-the-top-6-s85-draft-class-performance-so-far/#findComment-951518 Share on other sites
