Frank Chadwick announced today that the team will be retiring Alexander Valiq's number 5 into the rafters at the Colisee Pepsi.

"We have gathered you all here today to announce that the team will be officially retiring Alexander Valiq's number 5. After a couple seasons in which the team has been rebuilding and now looks to be as strong as ever here in Season 40, we decided that it was time to retire one of the most loyal and skilled players the Meute have ever seen. Alexander played 7 seasons for this great franchise and has been a fixture in the community from his time as a player through to his retirement from hockey in Season 37. Though Alexander never won the individual awards he was a very skilled defenseman who relied on his goal scoring ability. He was a great leader within the locker room and everything the franchise expects out of such a prominent player. Without Valiq's leadership and stellar play Quebec would not have won a Continental Cup in Season 35. I don't think we'd be standing here today making this announcement if Quebec hadn't of won that Season. Championships matter and Valiq was a huge part of what led to this franchises first championship. We hope his legacy will carry over and that we'll be able to ice a competitive team now and in the future."
