Anyone slightly interested in cricket should be watching this world cup it's providing some of the best matches around with all the minor teams sticking it to the big names of cricket

I went to India v Ireland yesterday was fun! And USA won today too, 2-0 in group stage so far which is pretty exciting :)

Yeah the USA game from today is what made me record the podcast such an amazing achievement. If they Beat Ireland then they will get through to the top 8 which is crazy for a team that has never made a world cup before

I cannot take a sport serious which is named after an insect.

That just reminds me that the Swiss National sport is called 'Hornussen' which translate into 'Hornet'...

This already looks way cooler than cricket

You cannot really see it in this GIF but at the end of the metal contraption there is a plastic (used to be wood) disc of 78g (roughly 2 1/3 oz). The stick the lad is swinging is a 3m (10ft) long flexible rod from carbonfibre, fibreglass, aluminium or plastic (probably was flexible wood like willow back in the day) with a hardwood block (oak or beech would be my guess) at the end. The goal is to hit the disc with the wooden end and shoot it as far as possible. The renowned ETH took samples and came up with an initial speed of up to 306km/h (around 190mph), terminal velocity of 160km/h (around 100mph), max altitude of 70m (230ft) and max range of about 350m (about 1150ft). Like baseball it is the batter playing against the field (yes there are people in the field who try to 'kill' the disc by throwing oversized, lightweight pizza shovels in the air).
