Bubbles LaFleur and the San Diego Marlin currently hold a 2-0 series lead over the Saskatoon Wild in the 1st round of the VHLM playoffs. San Diego was granted 2nd seed after finishing 3rd in the VHLM standings, but 1st in the Western Conference, 1 win ahead of the Houston Bulls. If San Diego is to beat Saskatoon this series they will more than likely faceoff against the S97 Prime Minister Cup winning Halifax 21st which will be a tough battle. San Diego did have a winning record this season against the 21st (4-3 with one win decided by shootout) but the team will heavily rely on on their defensive power backed by goaltender Ricky LaFleur @DarkSpyro heading into that series. The Marlins have been buzzing all season and hopes for a deep playoff run are high, but Bubbles does have the future on his mind.

Bubbles LaFleur was drafted prior to this season by the Los Angeles Stars, 6th overall, alongside his brother Ricky LaFleur. While Los Angeles has struggled in the recent past to produce a solid team, Bubbles is determined to continue developing in order to be a face that the Stars can rely on each and every game. The Stars hold rights to S94 Wally Lose @youloser1337 as well as S95 Roger Eagles @Greg_Di, which can be seen as the majority of Los Angeles' "core". Although, after the S97 draft, there is far more potential to come within their prospect pool. Bubbles LaFleur and defending partner Mikko Tuomala @flyersfan345 will be moving up next season to join the roster. At this current point in time the two defenders should easily lock into the first defensive pairing and play an extensive amount of minutes throughout their young careers. Goaltender Ricky LaFleur will also be moving up to fill the backup role next season, then after that, a few seasons later will see many other S97 prospects joining the roster. Defender Victory Hockey League @TheHockey_pro, left winger Hater Tottingham @Trunkxolotl, right winger Jacob Seed @oilmandan and defender Ron World Peace @stevo should hopefully all be able to move up following S98 with the rate they are earning. Left winger Old Man On Skates @Jason 2.0 is not too far behind, but may need more than one season of development compared to the rest of these prospects. Either way, Los Angeles will have to struggle through a few more seasons of rebuild before reaching a prime era. But the future is bright though, and with a projected S100 draft class to be heavily equipped with talented recruits, Los Angeles may be able to draft a few more studs in the near future.

That’s not how the brackets work. 1v8 and 4v5 are on one side of the bracket, 2v7 and 3v6 are on the other. So Saskatoon / San Diego will face Vegas / Miami.
