Guest Posted April 21, 2015 Share Posted April 21, 2015 HOUSTON, TX - Michael Clardy, Moscow Red Wolves defender and S43 draftee, has been very quiet since his burst onto the VHLM scene at the beginning of the season. After stepping down as Assistant GM for his beloved Red Wolves, Clardy was not seen at the practice facilities, and his attendance of games was the only activity seen from a former 3rd Overall Pick. But as the season reached its end and Moscow went home empty-handed, Clardy realized he had to prepare for the next part of his hockey journey: the VHL. The newly invigorated Clardy has also been away from the team for personal reasons, citing study habits for trying to complete his degree at the University of Houston as his main draw away from the VHLM. Others argue, however, that Clardy has been secretly training with a Russian defender whilst on hiatus. Clardy has been seen skating and learning the craft of defense from Vsevolod Nikitin, Seattle Riot defender for the SHL and a Russian national. Together, their time has helped Clardy understand the finer points of training, including the commitment to being active every day, teamwork, and most importantly, the concept that the name on the front of the jersey is the name you represent, not the name on the back. Hopefully, after a rookie year hiatus, Clardy can become a perennial defender like his friend in the SHL. With the draft only a few days away, Clardy's draft stock has started to rise again after a long decline over the course of his rookie year.
