This award was renamed from the Bourque Trophy to the Ryan Sullivan Trophy in S42. One of the greatest VHL defencemen of all-time, a three-time recipient of the Sterling Labatte Trophy, Sullivan proved his mettle in the VHLM in S28. In addition to an illustrious career, Sullivan's case was strengthened by his victorious role as Kolari Panthers GM and later becoming VHLM Commissioner.

Passing the halfway point of the season as we’re now 38 games in the race for the Ryan Sullivan Trophy intensifies, but you can now figure out who are the real competitors for the award. This season in the VHLM there has been an impressive three-way race for the Ryan Sullivan Trophy between Golden Jedtsson, Chuck Goody, and MC Hammer. Along with those three there’s a deserved honorable mention to Bratislava Watchmen defenseman, Michael Clardy who’s fallen behind from the top three, but that’s not to say he couldn’t contend for a nomination if he continues his intensive training. At one point in the season it looked like MC Hammer would dominate that the other defensemen wouldn’t have a chance. However, the other defensemen have become elite in their own end and offensively. There are three defensemen in the top 10 league scoring those three are Jedtsson, Goody, and Hammer, so the offensive talent is strong between all three, but have all three been reliable in their own end? It seems as if Jedtsson’s been the stronger defenseman in his own end and if he keeps that play up; he could separate himself from the rest of the pack with the elite defensive play.

(S43) - GOLDEN JEDTSSON, TPE: 188

TEAM: BRAMPTON BLADES/NEW YORK AMERICANS

GOALS: 9

ASSISTS: 53

POINTS: 62

PLUS/MINUS RATING: +50

HITS: 95

SB: 48

Jedtsson posts the numbers of an all-around defenseman as he’s found himself leading the way as the number one defenseman for the Brampton Blades this season. Jedtsson’s 95 hits leads all of three competitors, but the gap between his hits and the others is surprising as the next leader in hits, MC Hammer only has 65. Jedtsson’s nine goals finishes third out of all the competitors, which isn’t bad or good. However, he leads the way in shots blocked with 48, but this time his lead is only four. Although, this signifies Jedtsson’s impressive all-around play.

(S43) – MC HAMMER, TPE: 124

TEAM: BERN ROYALS/RIGA REIGN

GOALS: 16

ASSISTS: 53

POINTS: 69

PLUS/MINUS RATING: +57

HITS: 65

SB: 44

Hammer whose game is the opposite of Jedtsson finds himself being an offensive defenseman recording 16 goals and 69 points, which leads the three defenseman. Hammer’s numbers aren’t one to overlook as he’s found himself being the best defenseman for the Bern Royals. Despite holding the title as an offensive defenseman Hammer’s posted some impressive defensive numbers such as 44 shots blocked and 65 hits.

(S43) – CHUCK GOODY, TPE: 115

TEAM: BERN ROYALS/CALGARY WRANGLERS

GOALS: 16

ASSISTS: 47

POINTS: 63

PLUS/MINUS RATING: +59

HITS: 64

SB: 39

Goody’s found his game to be more of an offensive defenseman netting 16 goals and 63 points, which are numbers similar to Hammer. One thing Goody does better than the other three is that he’s a game changer when he’s on the ice with a plus/minus rating of +59 leading the pack. Goody’s 64 hits aren’t bad as he’s one behind Hammer and his 39 shots blocked are just five behind Hammer and nine behind Jedtsson.

Wouldn't you rather have the big one? Cuz if not I'm calling dibs. That scrub Labatte only won 3.

I'm just busting your balls guy. I'd rather not have either as changing award names again would be stupid

Content: 3/3 - Good work! That race is definitely a good one to watch.

Grammar: 2/2 - Not a whole lot to see regarding mistakes.

"in the top 10 league scoring those three are Jedtsson," - scoring, and those three are
