Tagger 2,722 Posted July 10, 2015 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Sentient Microphone As you may already be aware, I’ve recently been doing two point podcasts to make sure that I reach the nine point TPE cap. Some of these podcasts I’ve done on my own whereas I’ve done others with my good friend Streetlight, the latter of which are undoubtedly my favourites. For this article, I want to look at what I want to do in the future with my podcasts and how, if you so wish, can join in on the fun. Submit My Podcasts with Streetlight as My Point Task I think in terms of the quality of the current product that I produce along with Streetlight, the podcasts that we make together are of a good enough quality to allow me to submit them as a point task and get the full six points. While I enjoy writing media spots, whether that be talking about the craziness of Encarnacion or talking more seriously about upcoming VHL events, I feel like they’re taking too much of my time to write and plan. Oftentimes I’ll come up with a media idea, write 200-300 words on it and then just end up disposing of it and never returning to it again. Another thing that I’ll do is that I’ll spend hours researching stuff for potential article ideas and then never end up using them because I don’t feel like I can effectively express everything that I want to address without it turning into a 3000 word article. Should Streetlight and myself not be able to match up on times, there may come a situation where I’ll have to record my six point podcast on my own but, while it will be more difficult without another person to fill potential dead air, I feel like I proved with the Seattle Bears GM podcast I did that I can do a decent job on my own as well. I have to podcast from within that line, otherwise I exceed the TPE cap and someone will start a complaints thread Do A Second Podcast For My Two Point Podcast Much like Phil used to do with his One X podcast, I’d like to make another smaller podcast on the side to make sure I can keep right at the nine point cap. Unlike Phil though, I don’t have a particular topic in mind that I’d like to cover for these podcasts. Certainly one thing that I would definitely like to do is have conversations with some other VHL members, but unfortunately considering my window for doing these podcasts, that is somewhat of an improbability. To clarify the reasoning behind this; I currently do all of my podcasts from the family computer (because somehow all three of my laptops USB ports are broken along with the headphone port) which is situated in the living room, which is needed for use by other members of the family around 2 PM GMT. For those not familiar with timezones, 2 PM GMT is 9 AM EST and 5 AM PST. Considering that the website’s members are predominantly American or Canadian, this makes lining up other people to record with difficult. In addition, my availability for these podcasts is limited to one day during the week, which is my day off from work. DollarAndADream 3,356 Posted July 11, 2015 Share Posted July 11, 2015 I usually listen to most of the podcasts in the podcast section on PT's, and honestly haven't listened to any of yours in the VHL Radio section because I don't go there too often. I should probably go there more. As long as you meet the rubric requirements I'm sure you'll get 6 TPE, at least from me. I'm basically the one that grades all of the podcasts anyways. Sixersfan594 247 Posted July 13, 2015 Share Posted July 13, 2015 Content 3/3 - It's a funny MS, and to be honest, I can't tell you how many times I write an MS I'm almost done and I think, "shit this fucking sucks" and I dispose it. Or even worse I try and copy and paste it to see how many words long it is, only to have my hard work be deleted. I think podcasts are a cool way of regarding any topic and it'll be cool to have more podcasts across the league.
