After being drafted Third Overall in the Season Forty-Three VHL Entry Draft, Hans Wingate has put the entire VHL on notice. After a tough rookie season on a dismal Calgary team, Wingate has put up all-star numbers the past two seasons. When General Manager Austin Gow took the reins of one of the most storied franchises in Victory Hockey League history, Gow made it a point to build his hockey club the right way by selecting Wingate. Today we’ll take a look at the journey that Wingate has taken so far in his VHL career with the Wranglers.

Wingate jumped right into the VHL after being selected in the VHL draft during the Season Forty-Two off-season. With Calgary in the midst of a rebuild, Wingate was left for dead many nights behind a horrid defensive corps. Although Wingate was being peppered night in and night out in his rookie season, his play in the blue ice left many Wranglers faithful leaving the building with a great feeling, even on nights that ended in losses. Wingate went on to win fourteen of the fifteen games the Wranglers won back in Season Forty-three, but more importantly Wingate put up decent numbers in his first VHL season. Wingate put up a .912 save percentage and a 3.23 goals against average in sixty-four games that season, which was overshadowed by some of the greatest goaltender performances of all time by the likes of Brick Wahl, Martin Brookside, and Mike Szatkowski. This was only the beginning to a great career by Wingate.

Coming into his sophomore season with the Wranglers, even more was expected by Wingate with the team ready to move out of their rebuilding stage. With a weak North American conference, the Wranglers felt like the time was right to make so moves to solidify the top spot in North America. With a depth laded team in-front of him, Wingate came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. Wingate saw action in sixty-four games for the Wranglers in his second season in the league, drastically improving in every statistical area. Wingate improved on wins with forty, goals against average with .923, and a save percentage of 2.07. The improved numbers as well as Wingate helping Calgary get back to the playoffs was enough for the young British net-minder to be named the league’s top goaltender. Wingate continued his stellar play in his first appearance in the VHL playoffs, helping lead the Wranglers past Quebec, New York, and Cologne on the way to Calgary’s eighth league championship.  In just his second season in the VHL Wingate had already put his stamp on the entire league

Wingate made sure to show the league that Season Forty-Four wasn’t a fluke with his performance in Season Forty-Five. Wingate didn’t quite have the same numbers from his sophomore season, but his numbers held up amongst the top goaltenders in the league. In another sixty-four game season with Calgary, Wingate put forty-two wins to go along with a .917 save percentage, and a 2.28 goals against average. Wingate was a rock again between the pipes for the Wranglers, which has the Calgary faithful very excited for each season he puts on a red and white jersey.

The VHL has seen his fair share of top notch goaltenders to grace the ice in the leagues forty-six seasons, but Wingate is a special player that continues to do special things for the Calgary Wranglers.

More Wingate! Thanks for the props. For some reason my guy just can't seem to do as well in the regular as in the playoffs/World Cup, but I'd much rather have that than the other way around.
