Ho Ho Ho! Belatedly. Answers and TPE and stuff.

 

Parts A:

1. How many Kevin Brooks Trophy winners scored less than 60 goals in the season they won the award? (Credit to gorlab)

2. Who was the top scorer in the S35 VHL Super Cup? (Credit to DollarAndADream)
ANSWER: Yuri Grigorenko, the 4th overall pick, probably had the best two weeks of his career.

 

3. How many VHL Hall of Famers are named after an actual NHL player and who are they? (Credit to Kendrick)
ANSWER: I thought just one, in Cam Fowler, stolen by CoachReilly straight from the Anaheim Ducks defenceman. But Matthew Pogge, Vasteras' first goaltender, was inspired by one of Toronto Maple Leafs' many goaltending futures in Justin Pogge.

 

4. Which two franchises retired the same number twice? (Credit to Kyle)

ANSWER: Two, New York and Riga. The Americans had symbolism as they retired their most successful (back then) GM Brandon Best's two players (Best and Azevedo) simultaneously. The Reign on the other hand seemed to simply let Ansgar Snijider play with Marrko St.Urho's number and then retire him as well (although to be fair St.Urho was only ever a Stockholm Ram).

 

Part B:

Of the eight franchises founded in Season 1, how many still play in their original location?

ANSWER: Just half of them in Toronto, Calgary, Helsinki, and Seattle, with only the first two retaining their full original name (Helsinki and Seattle spent S1 as the Frostbite and Everblades, respectively).
