TEAM MERCENARIES The Story This is a rematch from the Season 43 World Cup Quarter Final where Team Canada, who had finished in third place in the round robin phase, were shockingly eliminated by a Team Mercenaries side that had finished in last place in the round robin phase. Arguably the best personal story of this was Marcus Hurley's hat-trick for Team Mercenaries dealing the killer blows that eliminated his country of birth from the tournament What To Watch Considering Hurley's performance for Team Mercenaries last year, it will be interesting to see if any of the five Canadian players on the Team Mercenaries roster can be as effective as Hurley was against their own country. The big names to watch out for will be the two former VHL Playoff MVPs Tyler Cote and Brady Stropko. GAME EIGHT TEAM WORLD VS TEAM WESTERN EUROPE The Story The last time that these teams met in the playoffs was the Season 37 World Cup Semi-Final, where Team World narrowly missed out on making the Gold Medal Game in their first ever tournament when Felix Zamora converted his team's sixth penalty shot attempt after Nikita Lebedev had his penalty shot saved by Remy Lebeau. What To Watch If you want to see the progress of some of the most recent first overall selections, this is the game to watch as four of them will be playing in this game; Bismarck Koenig, E'twaun Delicious, Edwin Reencarnacion and Phil Hamilton. GAME NINE TEAM USA VS TEAM SCANDINAVIA The Story This is a rematch of the Season 40 Gold Medal Game, on that occasion Team USA annihilated an over-matched Team Scandinavia that only managed to get off 12 shots. What to Watch This is a match-up of the oldest team at the tournament versus the youngest team in the tournament. While Team USA have just two players on their roster that were drafted later than Season 42, Team Scandinavia have just one player that was drafted before Season 42. GAME TEN TEAM CANADA VS TEAM SCANDINAVIA The Story A rematch from the Season 37 World Cup Semi-Finals. That time Team Canada managed to sneak past with a 3-2 victory, although both of these teams are recovering from poor World Cup performances last time around with both teams failing to make the Semi-Finals What to Watch This will be a terrific game to get an insight into how well some of the VHLMs stars will perform in the VHL, as there are five players that will be playing today that were playing VHLM hockey last year. GAME ELEVEN TEAM MERCENARIES VS TEAM WESTERN EUROPE The Story The last time these two teams played was in the Season 43 World Cup Semi-Finals. Team Western Europe ended up winning a surprisingly competitive game 5-3, ending Team Mercenaries hope of making their first Gold Medal Game What to Watch With Team Western Europe rotating their starting goalie through the first two games, there's a chance that we may see a sibling match-up in goal; Sandro Clegane (Who was extremely impressive against Team World in Week One) will potentially match-up against his brother Greg (Who has the highest save percentage in the league with his performance against Team Canada). GAME TWELVE TEAM USA VS TEAM WORLD The Story Team USA and Team World have met at the Semi Finals in the last two World Cups, but it has been one-sided to this point as Team USA progressed through easily both times. What To Watch This match-up sees the two highest TPA players square off as Lord Karnage of Team World comes up against Thomas O'Malley of Team USA. While O'Malley got off to a great start; picking up two goals against Team Mercenaries, Karnage has picked up just the one point via an assist in their victory over Team Scandinavia, although he did convert the game-winning penalty shot in that game also.
