One more run for Riga

RIGA, LATVIA -- Late last night, it seemed that the Riga Reign got the news that they were hoping for. GM Kurtis Hunter was able to ink defenseman Mason Richardson and forward Jerrick Poole to one-year contracts.

The veterans, heading into their retirement years, are looking to get the elusive championship win that may just be possible in Riga this season.

With Helsinki losing Thomas O'Malley and Davos seemingly falling off the face of the Earth, this leaves Riga with the room that they need to take the European conference if everything works together.

While Richardson did win a Continental Cup in S42 with the Cologne Express, Poole has yet to win a Cup and joins fellow S40 Entry Draft pick Hunter in a quest to win their first cup.

Hunter, GM and a player for the Toast player agency, is on a quest to win the agency's first ever Continental Cup.

"It's great that Richardson and Poole signed," said Hunter. "We have a fantastic amount of talent here in Riga now and we believe that we can really make a statement in the league this time around."

"What happened in the post-season was very disappointing, but we're not prepared to let it discourage us. We have a fantastic season ahead and we'll make full use of it."
