I don't even know what to write about this week, so I figure....why not a piece about a man who has won a lot already in such a small amount of time?

All things considered, when the Helsinki Titans drafted Phil Hamilton at the top spot during the VHL Entry Draft back in Season 45, they knew that they had struck gold. Mr. Hamilton is a player coming out of an agency that is famous for making great players, so picking him 1st overall was an easy selection. Not only has this man already won 2 Continental Cups in 3 seasons, but he also has a couple of World Cup Gold's to his name, and some individual accolades to go with them. He's won the Grimm Jonsson Trophy in both S45 and S46, with the possibility of winning it again in biased fashion for S47. Phil just always wins it if he has a player in the VHL. Nobody cares about the efforts of other guys like Ahma, or even DollarAndADream. It's okay though, because Phil isn't a dickhead. On top of those Grimm's, he was also the S46 Top Defenseman in the World Cup. Keep on winning, Phil Ham.

In his first season in S45, he managed to produce 6 goals and 36 assists, giving him 42 points in his 72 game debut in the VHL. He only managed 90 hits, and also had 86 blocked shots, but nobody was expecting him to crash and bang, so that's okay. Phil was also a huge +54 in his rookie campaign, and by any regard as a rookie that is amazing. In the playoffs that season, he had 11 points in 12 games. 5 of those points were actually goals, and goals by a defenseman in the post-season are big. With 18 hits and 25 shots blocked in those 12 games, Hamilton was great on the back end. The Helsinki Titans managed to beat the Calgary Wranglers in a historical 7 game series to win the Continental Cup.

In his sophomore season in Season 46, Phil was even better, putting up 66 points in 72 games. Almost PPG in only his second season. He had 11 goals and 55 assists, out-doing both of those milestones from his previous season. He improved in the hits category with 133, and also put up 85 blocked shots. On top of those stats, he raised his plus/minus to +64. This time around in the post-season, Helsinki was one of the top teams once again. Although, in his second playoff stint, Hamilton's game fell of a little where he had 5 assists in 10 games. Not the same dominating performance he put on in S45, but the Titans still repeated as champions on the back of Thomas O'Malley, where they eliminated the Calgary Wranglers again in just 5 games. Talk about disappointment for Calgary.

This season in S47 which we are still in the finals of the playoffs of, Phil Hamilton had his best season. As a defenseman, which is awesome, Phil produced 32 goals and 53 assists, giving him 85 points. He didn't beat out his assist milestone at 55, however. (What a loser!) He also out-did himself in both hits and shots blocked with 170 and 113, respectively. Phil was basically at his best in all aspects of the game, and had a career year. The playoffs this season did not go as the Titans had planned, however. The playoffs are still underway in the finals, but the Helsinki Titans aren't in them. The Titans were taken out in the Conference Finals by the Stockholm Vikings in 6 games. Phil in these playoffs had 5 points in 6 games, but was a -5 with 17 hits and 9 blocked shots. Sadly, Phil Hamilton could not win 3 cups in a row in his first 3 seasons. That's a tough dream to live though.

Moving forward, I for one will be keeping an eye on him. Hamilton is obviously not done yet and there are still phenomenal seasons to be had for him. Also, fuck you Phil.

Thanks for highlighting myself. I may have my own biases but I honestly believe that I have deserved all the Grimm Jonsson Trophies I've ever received :( and honestly think no one rivals me in this regard. But, at the end of the day, as long as it's not sterling, that's fine by me. Hopefully by the end of Hamilton's career, he'll have a couple more Grimms, a few Labbates and Beketovs and Cups to speak of :)

Grimms and Labattes? You just want to take everything away from sterling don't you?

:P You definitely deserve all the Grimm's.

But I want one. I guess I'll wait until Hamilton retires just like how Boychuk won.
