The wave effect is VERY strong but I think it works to get the render as a focal point. Sadly it does make text very challenging and I think that's where you faltered a bit. Personally I would have tried a small text, maybe on a black bar, to get it out there without feeling like you are hiding it but not making it a distraction either.
