Scoring Race

Maybe it has been awhile, but I think I can finally be regarded as a Top 10 player in the VHL. Travis Boychuk's career was decent enough, but he was never utilized on the first line, so he always hovered a little under the top ten in the big leagues.

Now, as we can see with Zach Parechkin, I finally have myself a top player in this league, after wanting one for awhile. I definitely am not Max Molholt, but maybe I could be on another team, who knows. That is not an option though, as I am staying in Toronto as far as I know. I cannot wait to keep making some more runs for the cup! But, this article is not about Zach Parechkin.

At where it stands right now, Max Molholt is continuing to show the league that he means business. He has put up 25 goals and 35 assists in 31 games, for 68 points. Will he continue with that pace? It seems a little much in this generation of VHL scoring, but if anyone can do it, it's Max. He is 5th in Goals, and 1st in Assists right now. He is also the 2nd best Face-Off man in the league with a percentage of 67.61%. He is the best Power Play Scorer, the 2nd best Game Winning Goal scorer, and also sits in 4th in the plus/minus column. Nobody seems to be able to stop him, even though he has taken some of the most hits in the VHL as well.

Right behind Max Molholt is none other than the beloved Jorma Ruutu. He is surging through the league this season and leading the goal race with 34 goals. He has 66 points in 31 games, so basically on par with Max Molholt. Ruutu has taken the most shots in the VHL with 269. He has also been quite the playmaker, where he has put up 32 assists, which is the 4th best in the league. Jorma is one of the most accurate shooters as well, where he is 9th in shooting percentage with 12.64%. Not surprisingly, he is also right behind Max Molholt in power play goals with the second most in the league. Jorma is getting what is owed to him for all of his hard work.

Coming up as the second runner up in the VHL is Freedom McJustice. He is part of the one-two punch combo alongside Jorma Ruutu in New York City. Freedom has 31 goals and 35 assists, giving him 66 points, just like Jorma. That goal mark of McJustice is only less than Jorma, with only three less. These two skaters have been scoring at a crazy rate, and it will be interesting to watch if they can keep it up. As you might guess with his point-mark being the same as Jorma Ruutu's, Freedom McJustice has 3 more assists than him, with 3 goals less, making him the 3rd best passer in the VHL. He also has the second most shots in the league right behind him, and the most points per 20 minutes with 1.51. Freedom ties Jorma on top of that with the same amount of game winners, with 5. Freedom McJustice is currently tearing the league apart on a 12 game point scoring streak.

At this point of the season, anything can change in the scoring race. We are only 31 games in, and there are some thrilling stories already. The rest of the season should be glorious.
