Wranglers struggling early on

The Calgary Wranglers were expected to be in on the running for the final playoff spot in the North American Conference, but that couldn't be father from the truth nine games into the season. With only two wins on the season, some in Calgary are already starting to get impatient with the slow start. General Manager Austin Gow is one of those who is annoyed by the slow start, something that was evident after the stepped out of the Wranglers locker-room from a team meeting. With eight rookies on the roster growing pains were to be expected throughout the season, but few expected everyone on the roster to be under a point per game right out of the gate. With such a young roster assembled, the team tried to make sure they had some sort of veteran presence by acquiring goaltender Ariel Weinstein from the New York Americans in the off-season. So far you could say that Weinstein has underplayed significantly since putting on a Wranglers jersey, which isn't good news for management and fans alike as the ink has just dried on a new three year contact for Weinstein.

Currently Weinstein finds himself in last or second last in the more important goalie statistics. Weinstein sports a .904 save percentage 3.05 goals against average and five losses, each of which is second last to non-computer goalies. Weinsteins' two wins he has under his belt this season is the worst out of the seven active goalies. With the high price that the Wranglers paid for Weinsteins services, the team will need much more out of him going forward.

Another area of major concern for the Wranglers early on would have to be the lack of goal scoring the team finds themselves in. With only six out of the eleven finding the back of the net so far this season, the team seems to be snake-bitten around the blue paint. The deeper you look into the goal statistics the more concerning the problem seems to be, as half the teams goals have come on the power-play. Although the team has been struggling to put the puck in the back of the net, the club's top draft choice from the last draft, Theo Axlesson, has been showing up each and every night giving the club his all one the ice. Axlesson leads the team in points with eight, while also putting the fear of god in the teams opponents, with forty-nine hits in nine games.

With fives actives on the team on the team currently, including two goalies, the team seems to be in good shape for the future. The team is experiencing a low point right now, but if they can keep up the work in the weight room over the course of the season we should be signing a different tune in the not to distant future.

as long as eaglesfan is in charge, Calgary will suck. True story based on all the facts. What facts you ask? Well.......all of them. Don't question my judgement!
