When Blake Campbell took the reigns as General Manager of the Seattle Bears before the start of Season Forty-Nine, it looked as though the team was going to be in compete mode right off the bat. As things progressed through the off-season and into the season, Campbell realized that in a tough North American Conference the time just wasn’t right for the Bears to make the push to win the North American Conference right away. Campbell took some heat but changed course and started to look towards the future, acquiring some key draft picks to help shape the future of the franchise.  Today we’ll look at the pieces that are currently in place in Seattle and what the future might hold for the players and the franchise.

Sven Wolf – C:

Wolf came to the Bears via the General Manager rule and made his VHL debut for the club this season. After a successful VHL career with the Brampton Blades, Wolf knew he was going to be looked upon to help carry the load in Seattle. In his rookie season in the league, Wolf struggled a little bit offensively putting up just four goals and twenty-seven assists in seventy-two games for the Bears. Although he didn’t have the year that he and others around the organization expected offensively, he showed his worth in the face-off circle winning over 54 percent of his draws. Wolf will need to continue to put forth the work ethic he as shown since joining the league to ensure he sees an increase in his numbers.

AK47 – RW:

AK47 was another rookie forward that was in the Bears line-up each and every night. AK47 came into the league advertised as a power forward and he seemed to live up to that in his first season. AK47 had a decent first season in Seattle, netting twenty-six goals and twenty-one assists in the Bears seventy-two regular season games. While showing off his balanced offensive game, AK47 also led the team in hits while also sitting seventh amongst the entire league with 259. With the Bears still growing both on and off the ice, AK47 will be looked upon as a leader in just his sophomore season.

Bogdan Podarok – RW:

One of the oldest members on the team, although just a sophomore in the VHL circuit, Podarok improved on his fifty-seven point rookie season by putting up forty goals and thirty-four assists. After signing an extension with the club before the season, the Russian winger was also named team Captain. The team and Podarok were expecting bigger things from the young forward after the signing of the new contract and being named captain of the club, and he did just that in Season Fifty. Time will now tell if Podarok can take his career to the next level and become a Hall of Fame player.

Jakab Holik – G:

After being drafted by the HC Davos Dynamo Third Overall back in the Season Forty-Eight VHL Entry Draft, Holik was expected to man the pipes in Davos for many seasons to come. That changed when the Bears went out and acquired the young Czech goaltender. After showing promise in his thirty-seven games played for the Bears in Season Forty-Nine, Holik knew Season Fifty might be an uphill battle. Holik might have had a less than stellar team defensively in front of him, but he made the most of his situation putting up a .923 save percentage, to go along with a 2.34 goals against average. As the defensive cops of Seattle improves in front of Holik we expect his number to hit superstar levels in the not too distant future.

hehehehe, puns.....

Always love to see things about Seattle, especially if it praises Podarok! I love having the C :) Nice to see these 2 rookies doing work, hopefully they will improve. And I'm hoping you're right about Holik that he will be better when we get our defensive guys up next year.
