Notable cup counts of members in the playoffs

Recommended Posts

Let's start with the big one: @tfong has 10 Continental Cup wins during his time here. He is one behind Victor and sterling, who both missed the playoffs this season as members of the Toronto Legion. The race for the most cups between Victor and sterling has been a thing over the past several seasons, with sterling tying it up last year, but tfong has never equaled them at first place. The Bears won the Victory Cup this season, so you have to think he has a chance.

@Beketov, @Phil, @JardyB10, and @Green each have six. Unless Cologne somehow wins the Cup (they won't), then at least one of these players will be bumped up to seven. Reaching seven would join what is now a six-way tie for the fifth most cups. Most of the members currently a part of that tie are not active in the VHL, with Molholt being the only one who is (though some of them do have a player kicking around).

There are several members in the playoffs who, at some point in time, have experienced massive cup droughts. @Rob e Z just recently won his first Continental Cup since S8. Granted, he wasn't here all that time, but it's still worth noting that S8 to S51 is the longest time span between two championships for a members. That title had previously been held by @TheLastOlympian07 (S7 to S41), who won a Cup with Robbie last season, but they went their separate ways and could potentially end up facing each other in the playoffs. @Toast is one of the members who had been notable for never having won a Cup, a drought that ended last season. Now he has a player on both the Americans and Reign, giving himself a fair shot at a second championship (perhaps he'll get one ever season from now on?).

Looking at @JardyB10's championships, if his trend holds true, then Riga will not be winning. Nor will Jardy's next player, Motherfucker Sharpe, win a cup. The timeline of Jardy's cup wins is as follows: his first season in S18; one season later in S19; four seasons later in S23; five seasons later in S28; ten seasons later in S38; thirteen seasons later in S51. At minimum, Jardy will have to wait fourteen seasons since his last cup, because he has always had to wait longer each time.
