GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY, THAT MOCK DRAFT HAS BEEN BROKEN IN HALF!

Recommended Posts

1.  TORONTO LEGION: TORSTEN IRONSIDE

The first overall pick is one of only four picks that hasn’t been traded since my initial mock draft, and not only do I have the same team holding that selection, I also have them picking the same player. There’s not been anything on the boards to change my mind that DollarAndADream won’t take his own player with this selection.

2.  QUEBEC CITY MEUTE: FOOK YU

This was originally a Davos pick but Quebec moved up to have their pick of the top talents available in the draft. I have the same player going at this position though, as Tfong is more consistent than the other skaters available at the position.

3.  HELSINKI TITANS: HUDSON ABBOTT

Same team as my last mock draft, same player as my last mock draft. Abbott has only gone from strength to strength since coming clean about his true identity and, while there may still be doubts as to how long he will be able to maintain activity with Abbott given his recent history, his current TPE earning rate is too great to overlook.

4.  SEATTLE BEARS: ALEKSEI FEDOROV

This is the first real interesting pick for me. I think looking at the draft picks that the Bears possess, they are looking to leave this draft having selected both Fedorov and King. The real question is which one do they select first. Does Banackock risk missing out on his own player and select Marcus King or does he take the risk that neither Cologne or Riga trade in at number five to snap up King (or even have Davos just play the wildcard and select him) and snap up his own player. With the doubts that surround the strength of the upcoming drafts (meaning less value on the picks that Cologne and Riga could trade) and Riga not looking likely to attend the draft (it takes place very early in the morning in Latvia), we have Seattle securing a player from their own GM’s agency at four.

5.  HC DAVOS DYNAMO: SHAWN GRETZKY

Much like picking between King and Fedorov, it took me a while to decide which player Davos would take here out of Shawn Gretzky and Pablo. Brovy is undoubtedly the more consistent when it comes to keeping active (his players’ average TPE is greater than TheLastOlympian’s best player’s TPE) but Muller was a good showing for TheLastOlympian and there were suggestions on a pajodcast that he could get picked by Davos. I’ve gone with the player that has roughly 60 more TPE as it stands.

6.  SEATTLE BEARS: MARCUS KING

Sixth overall is clearly not indicative of the talent that King possesses, but with no-one outside Toronto currently selecting in the first round of this draft needing a goalie (unless Cologne or Riga offer more than they currently have available to them to pick ahead of Seattle), I can't see King in anything other than a Bears uniform in S54.

7.  HELSINKI TITANS: PABLO

Helsinki will do just fine with this pick. With Covington entering his final VHL season, they draft a player who will come in immediately to replace him and Pablo teams up with Higgins as we expected would happen in Season 54, but not on the same team. The wildcards are that I don’t know how DT and Brovy currently feel about one another (I doubt Higgins will give a shit) and that Pablo mentioned something about a likely switch to defenseman in a previous article (I don’t think that’ll end up happening if he goes here)

8.  HC DAVOS DYNAMO: VERNER REINHOLDT

With no defensemen currently warranting a first round selection still available, the other hole that Davos has left to fill gets filled with their selection of a right winger. Devise has been on fleek (Is that what the kids say now?) activity wise as of late and the Swiss team will hope he’s able to maintain that activity with his second player.

9.  CALGARY WRANGLERS: RUDOLPH SCHMECKELDORF

You can’t have any complaints when you’re able to draft a VHL ready player ninth overall. Unlike some of the predictions I have here, this is the very lowest I see Schmeckeldorf going. Providing he keeps up with his current updating pace, Calgary will have themselves a very handy contributor at the left wing position.

10.  CALGARY WRANGLERS: TAKASHI FUJIMOTO

There’s been speculation that, like Abbott, Fujimoto is another VHL member acting under a different identity. If he is and that is made clear prior to the draft, his stock may rise. However, if that’s not the case, his last 5 days without a post is probably enough to lock him in at number 10.

Regarding Fujimoto... So we now actively allow people to have multiple identities?!

I think he means a member from the past has come back under a different new alias.
