:vhl:Early League Leaders:vhl:

I’m going to try to bring back a segment I tried my hand at a few seasons back until someone stole it. I am talking about looking at the league leaders in a different variety of statistics each season. Of course every player in the VHL wants to be the tops at something and when you find your name at the top of a league stat, I believe you should get proper recognition. So without further procrastination, here are some players that have been playing lights out so far here in Season Fifty-Four.

Goals: Unassisted – 9 goals in 6 games

The New York Americans have once again been the toast of the Victory Hockey League and it has really shown in the offensive totals for most of the club. One player that would really turned the corner into a superstar once he joined New York back in the off-season before Season Fifty-two. Now here in Season Fifty-Four, Unassisted has played unbelievable in the teams’ first six games putting up nine goals. With over sixty games remaining in the season, it’s unimaginable to think Unassisted could keep up this unheard of pace, but we think you’ll see Unassisted at the top of or near the top of this leaderboard for the majority of the season.

Assists: Essian Ravenwing- 14 assists in 6 games

Another New York Americans that finds himself as the league leader in an offensive category. Ravenwing was another player that really broke out of his shell when he moved over to the Americans, molding into one of to the top offensive threats in the league. With two Continental Cups to his name after the past two seasons, Ravenwing is looking for more in terms of his personal game as we move forward in Season Fifty-four. Ravenwing is currently at a 2 assist per game pace, something that likely isn’t sustainable long-term but might give him the early boost on his race for the Alexander Beketov awards for the league’s most assists.

Points: Unassisted and Diana Maxwell – 18 points in 6 games

Another paif of Americans we will look at during our look at the league leaders, Unassisted and Diana Maxwell are currently tied for the league lead in points. During the first six games for the Americans, both Unassisted and Maxwell have found their “A” game, managing an incredible eighteen points in six games. With the Americans the early North American favourite to make it to the Continental Cup, it’s not a surprise to see these two at the top of the points leaderboard, but the amount of points they have put up in just a small sample of games if quite remarkable.

Fight Won: Motherfucker Sharpe – 1 Total Fight, 1 Win

To finish off the piece, I think I would be doing a disservice to those out there that chuck knuckles by not looking into the leader of fights won. That honor currently goes to the only VHLer to win a fight this season in, Motherfucker Sharpe. After being traded to New York from Calgary to begin the season, Sharpe quickly molded into a fan favourite with his style of play. With his only fight of the season won, we wonder who will be the next one brave enough to take on Motherfucker.
