With the VHL being brought back to it’s earlier state with the removal of the second player project and the removal of two teams, there are a lot of changes that are happening that hopefully will ensure the future of the league. When you look at the dispersal draft we see all teams with an equal chance for the first overall pick. The New York Americans turned out to be the lucky ones winning the first overall pick, just before the Seattle Bears and the HC Davos Dynamo.

Round One

1.      :nya:  NEW YORK AMERICANS:  (S57) C - Chase Keller, TPE: 423

The first overall pick looks to be Chase Keller, he was supposed to be the future of the Cologne Express, but he did not get the chance to bring them glory. NYA was rumoured to be his prime location before the draft already, so it would not come as a surprise if they picked him 1st overall.

2.      :sea: SEATTLE BEARS: (S54) C - Shawn Gretzky, TPE: 607

The second overall pick is the best pick available and that would be Shawn Gretzky, the S54 center would be a great addition to the Bears offense and looks to be their 1st line center. With Forsberg and Quill on the second line, their first line definitely got a boost.

3.      :dav: HC DAVOS DYNAMO: S58 COL 1st

Davos opts for the future and the Cologne first should be a fair pick.  With there not being much prospects available that look to be real stars, they hope this pick to be a mid-round pick in a draft that should give them someone for the future

4.      :tor: TORONTO LEGION: S58 HSK 1st

Firsts are always something that is coveted, so the Helsinki 1st goes early as well. Toronto has a nice squad already and might be able to use this to get another asset for the future

5.:que: QUEBEC CITY MEUTE:  (S53) C - Marc-Alexandre Leblanc, TPE: 537

The Quebec City Meute had acquired the rights of Savard so they are looking to compete, they will also check the best pick available and the versatility of Leblanc could be an ideal candidate.

6.:cal: CALGARY WRANGLERS: (S57) G - Shawn Brodeur, TPE: 324

The Wranglers have inherited all of Stockholms assets and are building a young team. They hope by selecting Brodeur that they get another young asset to build towards the future.

7.:rig: RIGA REIGN: (S53) RW - Motherfucker Sharpe, TPE: 504

The Riga Reign will be selecting Motherfucker Sharpe, with this quality they get a solid player that can play anywhere in their top 6. It is the last candidate that looks to be a player that is instant use potential.

8.:hel: HELSINKI TITANS: (S55) C - Jake Scheel, TPE: 254

The first round will be concluded with the selection of Scheel. He looks to be the last pick that is worthy of a 1st round selection.

This concludes the first round of the Dispersal draft. There are still enough assets on the board for a second and third round, but none of them look to be franchise defining.

Media spot for the week of 12/11 for Peter Quill.

Calgary would be better off taking Sharpe and having Jardy in the LR. Stopko has more TPE and is the same draft year as Brodeur, and trading goalies won't get anything of value back anyway.

Pretty sure they 4 seasons apart...

Review

I love reading mock drafts, I love them a lot more when my player(s) are involved ;) I bet no one saw me going 3rd to Davos with Brodeur. The rest of the draft other than Kedrick and I and i think Pandar have only been active. Gretzky in Seattle has worked out pretty great
