Tyler 885
Every season that I remember to do it I like to get a VHL season prediction media spot put out. I've probably been dead wrong nine times out of ten but the effort is what counts. With the World Cup underway both on the site and in real life it's an interesting time for sports online and real. The VHL is looking like it should be a very competitive league this season with lots of key players changing places this season. 8. Toronto Legion -- They did not have their first pick last season and it hurt. They have it this year though and should be getting a quality player in return for a probably dismal season. Their GM player Ironside will only get better though which is a small shine of light in dark times in Toronto. 7. Seattle Bears -- The team that benefited from Toronto's previous wheeling and dealing is probably the 7th team in the league. With their luck they will probably win the lottery anyway, but for now they will have to rely on developement from Roger Sterling and Matt Thompson who is already poised to be a superstar in this league as soon as his second season. 6. Riga Reign -- The Reign are a long way from where they were in their mini dynasty days even if it wasn't that long ago. They are rebuilding quite clearly but with two Season 61 draftees in the lineup already it should be a pretty quick turnaround for the Latvian team. It's good to see hedge staying on as GM since it's pretty hard to go from really good to rebuilding in terms of your interest, but fair play there. 5. Quebec Meute -- The team from Quebec has a very good young core although one has to wonder if it will ever really be good enough to win anything. They have a full roster which means depth and having added defender Samuel Gate this draft they could be a team that is difficult to deal with. I don't know if any of the top four will want to see them in the wild card game. The key here is further development from Veran Dragomir as he is the face of the franchise in a lot of ways. 4. HC Davos Dynamo -- Still feel like we are one defenseman away from the top. I think our offense is up there with any other team in the league and Brodeur is one of the best goalies still. I won't say too much here that I haven't already said in other media spots but the depth up front may be our key with six active forwards. If Roux breaks out I think we can easily make a jump this year. 3. New York Americans -- They still have the best goalie in the league (okay that's arguable) but they return a lot of their team from last season. They added Kiaskov from Quebec who is poised to be a key playeron a contender for the first time in his career. They have a small roster but may not matter as they do have star power at every position. If Felix Savard remains a star player for the American I think they have a shot at that elusive cup. 2. Helsinki Titans -- A mix of veteran depth and star power the Titans remain near the top. Most expected a rebuild but it's been almost ten seasons of success in Helsinki so why stop now? Ay Ay Ron is a first ballot hall of fame talent although one wonders if he will slow down at all now. He is getting older but was still an incredible piece to last seasons cup winning team. Borrowing half of the Seattle Bears roster was a bold strategy but we'll see if adding even more cup experience helps them. 1. Calgary Wranglers -- Not really a surprise here but the Wranglers have made some very solid moves this off season. Bushito has put together a very good team on the backs of his two mega star players in Stopko the goalie and Canmore the centre. This season they add a little bit of youth to their team as well as signing the biggest free agent in recent times Matt Jonsson to a contract. It's unsure what he will do after this season but for now he should be the piece that puts the Wranglers over the top. The team does have apparently some minor cap issues to work out but it should be sorted out in due time. DollarAndADream 3,357
Review: Fun looking back at this. You were right about the top teams. I'm surprised however at how NY is doing this season. Kiaskov hasn't been that great either even though he's like 800+ TPE and playing with players similar. The sim is weird sometimes. Exlaxchronicles 415
I agree. My guy's very inconsistent but he's picked it up these past dozen or so games like he usually does near the end of the season.
