Scouting Report (excerpt from player biography)

Full Bio can be viewed here: https://vhlforum.com/topic/51359-julian-borwinn-biography/

Borwinn was scouted as an elite play-maker. A play-maker with the capability of finding the smallest gap to his target. Julian has always been able to hold his own when his time came to score. His skating ability is exceedingly impressive and has the ability to turn on a dime, especially in the corners. His all around nature also provides Borwinn with a strong defensive game and can be relied upon even if he is the last man back. Fitness has always been important to Borwinn's development tactics. His on and off season workout plans include carefully prepared meal portions and daily workouts of his upper and lower body. When the time comes for him to take or receive a check, Borwinn can certainly hold his own. Discipline was never an issue for Borwinn. His teammates would agree he would be in the running for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy each and every season if he were an NHL skater.

Borwinn amassed 104 points in 48 games during his final roller hockey season. His coaching staff had nothing but glowing remarks for the left winger.

Prediction

Julian will require some fine tuning but projects to be a force that will fit in to any teams top 6. Trying to gauge his outlook is a tall task. He has the potential to be an elite skater but will need to convert his roller hockey skills to ice hockey know how. This is not expected to be an issue for the 27 year old. Keep an eye on this talented left winger.

The dedication Borwinn brings to the arena each and every day will prove crucial in his development.

Strengths

Passing - As stated above, his ability to find even the smallest avenue gives Borwinn a strong chance at becoming an elite playmaker in the VHL.

Shooting - Accurate passing typically means accurate shooting ability. Borwinn possesses strong wrist action and above average puck handling.

Skating - Borwinn's edge work is certainly one of his strongest assets. His corner work and possession game will complement his ability to move the puck. Borwinn has been known to use the odd rap-around attempt. His long leg span also assist with his ability to gain speed down the wing. Look for Borwinn to be involved in odd man rushes.

Defense - What do GM's desire most in a forward? A balance of strong offensive and defensive ability. Julian certainly has these capabilities. His take away game was near the top of the roller hockey league.

While inline hockey and ice hockey are vastly different, Julian's prior years of ice hockey helped to develop a strong hockey sense. These skills complemented with the accuracy requires to play hockey on roller-blades provides confidence that Borwinn will find success at the VHL level.

Areas of Improvement

Checking - While Borwinn can both take and receive a check without much concern, his strengh and conditioning will need to be held in high priority as he ages.

Strength - Borwinn's corner work is nothing to shake a stick at, however, his board play does leave something to desire. Improvement in this facet begins with continuous strength and conditioning training.

Face-offs - Yes, he is a winger, but every now and then a winger does need to step in on the draw. Roller hockey does not follow this same rule therefore leaving Borwinn's face-off abilities rather raw.

Aggression - More of the same to say here similar to strength. If Borwinn can spend an extra few hours in strength training we believe his aggression will also benefit greatly.

I mean, not so much fitting the criteria and there has to be a specific word amount for Pros and cons. I think 150 a pop if not mistaken. Though, clear effort and great work. I’d say passable-ish. @DollarAndADream

Yes.

Should include at least 3 solid pros (strengths) and 3 solid cons (weaknesses). The pros and cons section is the core of the rookie profile and should be around 350-400 words at minimum.

RP's also need to be at least 500 words, as per the guidelines. This is almost 400.

So basically, you can take some of that stuff you wrote about his assets, and put it underneath the pros headings. Then expand a bit. Take a look at other Rookie Profile's for examples of how it usually looks. Here's one that is a good example.

The TPE I'd dish out for this RP is probably 5 TPE.
