jRuutu 2,467
Colton Rayne has been playing on extremely high level all year long on Quebec Meute´s blueline, 24 games : 8 + 34 = 42 points, that is the best total among all the defenders in the league and also 7th best among all the players, so it´s fair to say that the ongoing season is fairly surely going to be career year for Rayne. Naturally many are wondering what are the reasons behind Coltons success? Last year in New York he had 54 points in 72 games and now after joining Quebec during off-season, he looks almost like a new player and is closing on 50 points and we are not anywhere near to halfway of the season yet. I´m here today to share in my opinion what the key reasons are, 1. Getting to play with Rauno Palo. Not a big surprise to those who have watched Quebec play this year, the rookie has impressed especially on the faceoffs and won close to 60% of them so far, Rayne as a defender gets to enjoy the won faceoffs the most and we have seen quite few goals after Palo first wins a faceoff and then Rayne either scores himself or throws a shot to the net and then someone else scores moment later. 2. Getting to be around Rauno Palo. Not only is Rauno Palo really good looking, he is also talented human being and a inspiration to many. There seems to be no limits on what Rauno can do. Only fitting that players like Rayne feel the vibe and step into another level soon after getting to share locker room with the eight wonder of the world. 3. Not being Rauno Palo. The name and expectations that come with it carry a lot of weight, simply by letting Rauno to take most of the spotlight, Rayne and others can step into even bigger roles and truly express themselves on the ice, but at the same time not have to deal with the massive media and fan attention Palo gets. 4. Change of scenery. This is in my opinion the biggest one, up until this season Colton played in New York without players like Rauno Palo, he did not play badly in all honesty, but as we can see, the change to Quebec has been nothing but success. 5. Destiny. We can only guess what life would be like if Rauno Palo was not drafted by Quebec Meute, then Rayne getting traded to Quebec and playing the best hockey of his life sounds almost too god to be true and it might be, I´m a firm believer on something greater that dictates everything. These moves happened for reason, it was destiny. Still too early to say what will happen during rest of the season and in the future, but I think we can all agree on the fact that Quebec is going into places, no matter if you are a fan or not, we should all enjoy the ride that is on it´s first steps at the moment. He was on Robbie Zimmers' Las Vegas Aces. 7. He deserves his New York Americans' GM spot.
