Perrin Draft Day Interview

Hello and good sunday morning I'm Pierre McGuire here for NBC and today is the big day that's been circled on many young VHLM players calendars for months. Today, is VHL Entry Draft Day and the excitement level this year is a lot higher than usual. It's a lot more exciting this year as we got 2 new expansion teams, the Prague Phantoms and the D.C Dragons looking to make splashes at the draft in order to build themselves solid teams going forward.

Today we're here covering the entry draft and we're here for a one on one interview with Seabass Perrin who is eligible to be selected in this year's draft. Perrin, thank you for taking the time to talk to us here today.

No problem Pierre. I'm happy to be here.

Now that I have you here I want to find out a little bit about yourself. I understand your born and raised in none other than Calgary, Aberta. That being said, do you secretly hope the Wranglers take you here today since I assume you grew up a Wranglers fan?

Well you assumed right as I did indeed grow up a Wranglers fan however I'm not here to restrict myself to just one team here. The VHL has now 12 franchises and honestly i'll gladly play on any team that has faith in my abilities on the ice and are willing to take a chance on me by selecting me in the VHL draft here today.

Alright well, do you have any predictions on where you think your going to be selected here in this year's draft?

No not really. I'm not going to go out and just say a number here. I just care that I'm selected at all, not when I end up being selected. I know I had a decent year as a member of the strong Yukon Rush defense corps. We did great this year as we let the fewest goals allowed in the VHLM and i'm proud that our team was able to accomplish that feat. However I still need to further refine my game here, i'm still getting better and I'm just looking forward to growing as a player with my new team mates where ever that may be.

Well are you at least looking forward to getting away from the arctic after being there for a year?

Honestly I enjoyed my time as a member of the Rush and I enjoyed my time in the Yukon itself as well. I've always been an avid fisherman and I definitely took advantage of the ample fishing opportunities there. I recommend any future players to just give the Yukon a chance, you might just fall in love with it. Not to mention the management crew over there really help you feel at home.

So I want to move on here to your on ice abilities, what kind of player to see yourself being in the VHL?

Well I always envisioned myself as more of a defensive defenseman and I always have been throughout junior hockey. I enjoy playing a more physical brand of hockey but in the end a defenseman's job is to be able to defend and that's my main focus. This year I really improved my game in the offensive zone and gained a lot of confidence handling the puck thanks to the wonderful Rush coaching staff. However,  I think my 12 powerplay goals this season was somewhat of a surprise and I don't expect to be able to reproduce that in the big leagues, so I dont want my stats here to give GMs the wrong impression here, I don't consider myself a powerplay specialist.

Well your honesty is appreciated Seabass but that all does it for our time here as I have many other prospects to cover today, but I appreciate the insight you've given to me today and I wish you good luck on your future endeavors.

Thanks Pierre, have fun out there.

Review: great interview, a nice easy read. would have loved an image as well. sounds like you had a great time in Yukon. in future, for interview format articles, try to give more distinct “voices” / “personalities” to the interviewer and player, as they both sound a bit similar at the moment in tone. @Sebster03
