Canada has had a somewhat average group stage. The positive side to it is that they finished 2nd, which helps them out going into the next round. The downside is that Asia looks deadly. A perfect 8-0 in the group stage is unexpected and utterly filthy. Making them the possible favourite to win gold at this stage, and that will be by far Canada’s biggest challenge if they can get there. Another optimistic side is that they finished 4-2 against the USA, Europe, and World. Nate Telker helped Canada get a 5-3 victory in their 8th and final game in the round robin. He produced 3 assists to help push Canada to 2nd place. Telker has a respectable round robin with 6 points in 8 games played as the 1st line center. He played well in the face off dot with 7 of his 8 games at 50% or better face off percentage. Canada’s next task is the knockout rounds where they may come up against Asia for gold.
