Devise 4,475
There are lots of unsung heroes in VHL's long decade plus legacy, and while lots of them have credible claims for the contributions they have provided over the seasons, to be @Frank with you a high majority of them aren't nearly as unsung as some of these articles would have you to believe. That isn't to say the concept isn't a great gimmick, on the contrary though I think I found a hero whose praises rarely get stated but he has always been a critical and most importantly consistent presence both behind and in front of the scenes. Of course I'm talking about @diamond_ace aka Jason Glasser. While there are tons of personal highlights for me over the years with Jason I wanted to focus in on his exceptionally unsung tenure as Calgary Wranglers GM. For those uninitiated, Glasser was the Calgary Wranglers GM from S26 to S41. While an argument can be made that he maybe held in a few seasons too late on that run, he brought a winning culture and consistency to the CGY LR that has helped keep that franchise relevant seasons later. Especially when you compare CGY to some of the other long term franchises, far more GM turnover. While Brovy did have a quick blip one season tenure with the franchise to break up @eaglesfan036 two runs as GM, @Bushito now continues a legacy that Jason started and Eagles did continue. Consistent, long term GM's that provide a stability and overall scope for a franchise. While Glasser would only lead his team to one Continental Cup in that timeline, he had another finals appearance under his belt and a solid 3 seasons voted for the David Knight Trophy as the Top GM in the league. Now finishing up his second season as the Prague GM, Glasser has been back at it and while the team did return back to normal the push that Prague had to start the season and the overall team structure could be a sign for things to come. Glasser showed his most success when he was able to secure his vision longer term, and with league parity as high as it is one has to wonder if the current league atmosphere isn't ripe to see him have another, potentially more Cup successful long tenure at the helm of a VHL franchise. eaglesfan036, Bushito and diamond_ace 3 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/74784-the-unsung-hero-diamond-ace/ Share on other sites
