Today we are taking a look at the start so far for the rookie backup goalie for the Vancouver Wolves, Jimmy Spyro. Here are some facts and stats about his first 4 games in the VHL.

Jimmy Spyro’s VHL debut in Toronto against the Legion was like witnessing something out of a fairytale. He turned away his first big league shot just 27 seconds after puck drop, and then proceeded to blank the Legion and all 36 of their shots on goal to earn the shutout- capping off a flawless display of goaltending with a 4-0 win and the earning the First Star of the game. After the game some comments were made towards Spyro yet when he was confronted about it from the media, all he did was grin and shrug it off.

Fate works in mysterious ways as we see the Vancouver Wolves hosting the Legion for their next game, where Spyro makes his 2nd appearance in the VHL. This game looked less like Spyro being a god and looking more like what was expected of him, with the Wolves winning 4-2 and Spyro stopping 25 / 27 shots to give him a .926 save%.

Since the hockey gods find strange ways to make unlikely scenarios a reality, we find yet another game back in Toronto where the Wolves take on the Legion for a 3rd time in a row. Who else do you think started this game? Naturally Jimmy Spyro comes back to the crease and makes his 3rd appearance in the VHL of course against the Legion for the 3rd time. This game resulted in another dominating display from Vancouver’s rookie as he helped lead the Wolves to a 4-1 victory, turning aside 25 / 26 shots in the process to record a .962 save% and earn the Second Star of the Game.

Spyro’s 4th appearance was back in Vancouver to face the.. -you guessed it, the Toronto Legion for a 4th time in a row! Sure enough the result here was no different from the first 3 games, as the Wolves triumph yet again and this time it looked like the Legion had lost more than just this game. After the Legion could only notch up 16 shots and score only once yet again, the Wolves won this game 5-1 and with Spyro recording a .938 save% as a result.

His current save% is .962, with a 1.00 GAA which tops the whole VHL in both categories, posting up a 4-0-0 record in his 4 games this far.
