Rayzor_7 741
And with those final two game as well as the fact that the NA conference was stronger here is the VHL's end of season Strength of Schedule So I get the argument for crossover, personally I somewhat agree. But the argument can also be made that then Toronto should be in the playoffs too. But by virtue of being the worst in their respective conference Toronto and Davos sit at the hardest schedules in each conference. Vancouver is a weird outlier thanks to an extra game vs Moscow. Yes, NY got short sticked and had to play Calgary two extra times but also Riga who had one of the easiest schedules finished 8th in the league. From first to last there is a variation of 0.31 while this seems like a huge margin, realise the league win %'s vary by .271. Even removing Davos then its .181. Will teams get slightly shafted each season? Yes. Is this a massive problem? Not really. Do I think the crossover should be re-implemented? That depends on how long the league intends to stay at 12 teams. Hogan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/81654-a-response-to-new-york/ Share on other sites

.sniffuM 1,741
The basis of our argument isn't really the SOS thing (or mine at least), obviously in a situation where you play each team at least 5 times the worst teams are gonna have the toughest schedules because they don't play themselves. I can see an argument for Toronto to also be in the playoffs, that's a bit radical for my tastes but I'm sure people would expect me to say that since I'm on New York. Garsh 1,190
How relevant is SOS with a league this size? This isn't meant as a dig, I'm genuinely not sure. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/81654-a-response-to-new-york/#findComment-737923 Share on other sites

It matters as there are 2 extra games randomly assigned as well and 8 in conference vs 5 out of conference (per team). So there's 10 extra games spent in conference (between 5 opponents) and 2 randomly assigned. In theory it's more SoS from the extra conference games but those 2 extra games do have an impact Edited April 28, 2020 by Rayzor_7 Hogan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/81654-a-response-to-new-york/#findComment-737932 Share on other sites
