Elsby Sr's First Draft Experience as AGM

Recommended Posts

March 18th at 8 PM marked the Live opening of the S72 VHLM draft , also the first VHLM draft newly hired assistant general manager in Philadelphia Spencer Elsby Sr’s and what an experience it was. Elsby was quoted after the draft “I could not be any more pleased with the way the draft fell into place and how things played out , I think all teams were a little shocked that no goalies went in the 1st round as I know we had that as a high priority, somehow we managed to snag the goalie we had penciled in as our first pick ended up going 34th Ovr future superstar John Poremba @celine, with the way the draft unfolded we were able to get the player we were most interested in , Jer Lefebvre , recent surprise 2nd round pick in the recent VHL draft, Lefebvre has been opening A LOT of eyes lately , and we couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to draft him and build around him”

The Philadelphia Reapers made six selections in this years draft and made some small draft pick trade to move up in the draft. Firstly the reapers traded up two spots moving S73 PHI 2nd and S72 PHI 6th to Houston for S72 SDM 2nd and were able to draft “there man” Jer Lefebvre at 19. The Reapers also Traded there S73 PHI 6th and (D) Hunter Harrison to the Yukon Rush for there S72 SSK 3rd . Finishing up there last trade on draft day the reapers felt comfortable with the way the draft was rolling and decided to move back a few spots and made a deal with Mexico Sending S72 PHI 2nd (21 Ovr) in return for S72 MEX 3rd and a S73 MEX 3rd.

After making these small move the Reapers ultimately had 5 Picks in this draft and not one 1st round pick’; 2nd Round (19), 3rd Round (27),(31),(34), 4th Round (47) and Finally 7th Roud (86). With the Reapers first pick by now every one knows his name and that Jer Lefebvre @Jer_Lefebvre. Jer is a future superstar and a proverbial 1st like center and the fans in Philly will love this guys scoring touch. Secondly the reapers were able to secure future superstar defenseman and the highly ranked “Riley Knight Gee” @KnightRiley. Riley has a fantastic season last year with Houston Scoring SEVENTEEN goals (as a defenceman) and 46 Asissts for 63 Pts in 68 GP. Riley has proven in his rookie season his offensive abilities , but he wont let you forget his defensive skills as well amazing 127 Hits and 193 Shots Blocked, this kid can do it all. With there next pick the reapers went with another highly touted forward in Turner McHugh @Turner, Turner is a pint sized energy bunny on the ice , he stands at 5”8 and 140 lbs, In 45 games on an abysmal Houston team Turner managed to Score 9 Goals and 23 Assists also averaging over a hit per game at 63/45 , Mccugh also proved clutch scoring two GWGs in S71. At pick 34 Shortly after the reapers found themselves where somehow John Poremba @CrlineDijohn14 was still on the board at 34 and the reapers made NO hesitations with their selection here  as the Philadelphia’s star Goalie from last season Isaak Sjostrom graduating to the VHL. Poremba was the ranked 3rd out of all Goalies going into the draft and being able to get a goalie of his caliber at 34 is something special. With the 3rd round coming to a close with Phillys 1st four picks all have one thing in common, and this was 100% coincidental however, Jer, Riley, Turner and John were all teammates during there rookie season last S71 playing on the S71 Houston Bulls. The reapers also selected promisng youngster Peekay Soupcan @Patpou22 in the 4th round , Peekay has alot of raw talent as he proved last season in his short VHLM stint in 20 games managing 6 Goals and 6 Assists for 12 PTS/20GP on a very week team with minimal ice time, Peekay could end up being one of the biggest steals of the draft. Lastly and deffintely not least the Reapers and @DMaximus Select Forward James Davis @I_gasselingwith the 86th pick in the 7th Round closing out Philadelphias draft day.
