I thought long and hard about what my VHL Dream Team would look like, and after much contemplation and internal debating, I think I’ve nailed the perfect squad.

Since this is a “dream”, I might as well start with right wing, where I choose my own current player, The Terrible Trivium. It would only make sense for my dream team to include my player, as I’ve chosen this team somewhat based on who I’d like my current player to play with if the opportunity presented itself. Trivium is the first player in London history to hit 100 points and currently has 61 goals and 117 points in 123 VHL games, not bad at all for a rookie on an expansion team.

My left winger was a powerhouse who won multiple championships and was a consistent threat for the Boulet Trophy as best two-way forward. In season 44, he had 38 goals, 69 assists, 344 hits, and 120 penalty minutes. An absolute beast of a player, he won multiple championships and fell short a few more times. Any team he was on was immediately a contender. With a little luck, he could have won 5 league titles.

At center, I decided to go with more of a pure playmaker build. His peak season came in season 56, where he hit 127 points on the strength of 82 assists en route to a Victory Cup. Season 57 saw only a minor step down in production, down to 110 points, but he added his third and final Continental Cup.

I think it’s important to have a balanced defensive pair, so I went with a shutdown defender and an offensive defenseman here. My offensive defender finished his career at above a point-per-game pace, with his best season coming in season 57, where he hit the 100-point plateau. He was also a minus player only one season in his entire career, a year where he hit 99 points.

For a shutdown blueliner, I went with a mean S. O. B. He only won one league title, way back in Season 34, but for his day, he was a feared hitter and a takeaway specialist. A few seasons later, he suited up for the infamous Vasteras Iron Eagles, where he had over 200 penalty minutes and nearly 400 hits, along with 48 points.

Finally, in net, a man who needs no introduction. I had the pleasure of playing with this guy many years ago and would love to do so again in the future, though he’ll have to come to London because Trivium isn’t leaving. One of the best to ever play the position, he finished his regular season career with over 250 wins, 38 shutouts, and a career save percentage of 0.922. His playoff numbers were just as good, with 30 wins in 54 games and a 0.920 save percentage. He won two Aidan Shaw Trophies, three Devon-Marlow-Marta Trophies, a Daisuke Kanou Trophy, a Victory Cup, and a Continental Cup, and is truly a legend of the league.

So, without further ado… Der Meister’s Dream Team!

@STZ @OrbitingDeath we're getting close to a dream team of our own here

4 players down, 2 more self sentred egocentric maniacs to go for a starting line-up ❤️

Thanks for putting LeBeau in net though @der meister

You could have listed your grocery list for last week, I wouldn't have known the difference. I have a hard time remembering shit from a month ago. But still, a very talented yet underrated lineup.
